Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.

For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

    True Riches In Christ

    By Pastor Cornelius R. Stam

    To know God through Christ and His redeeming work is to be rich indeed.

    The Scriptures have much to say about the infinite riches of God. They tell us of “the riches of His glory” (Rom.9:23; Eph. 3:16), “the riches of His wisdom and knowledge” (Rom.11:33), “the riches of His goodness and forbear-ance and longsuffering” (Rom.2:4) and “the riches of His grace (Eph.1:7; 2:7). God would have us enjoy these riches through faith in Christ, who died for our sins.

    “For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that ye through His poverty might be rich” (IICor.8:9).

    We should rejoice continually that God, in addition to being rich in wisdom and knowledge and in glory and power, is also “rich in mercy” (Eph.2:4) and that “the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon Him, for whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Rom.10:12,13).

    To St. Paul, the chief of sinners, saved by grace, God revealed the greatest riches of all. Paul said: “Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints is this grace given, that I should preach among the nations the unsearchable riches of Christ” (Eph.3:8). These riches include, among other things, “all the riches of the full assurance of understanding” (Col. 2:2). How wonderful to have an intelligent understanding of God’s plan of salvation and of all He has purposed in His heart of love for those who accept the salvation He has provided through His beloved Son!

    True riches are not comprised of material things. The Scripture calls these “uncertain riches” and warns us not to trust in them (ITim.6:17). True riches is “to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge” and so to be “filled with all the fulness of God” (Eph.3:19).

    Romans 9:23 And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory,

    Ephesians 3:16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;

    Romans 11:33 O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!

    Romans 2:4 Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?

    Ephesians 1:7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

    Ephesians 2:7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.

    2 Corinthians 8:9 For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.

    Ephesians 2:4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,

    Romans 10:12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
    13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

    Ephesians 3:8 Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ;

    Colossians 2:2 That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;

    1 Timothy 6:17 Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;

    Ephesians 3:19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.

    Well . . . I was going to follow yesterday with Manual Barrueco’s version of “Old Friends” transcribed for classical guitar. But then listening to Simon and Garfukel’s original version I was reminded of how perfect a performance it was. I’m still surprised that Paul Simon was just in his mid-20’s when composed this wonderful song. BTW: If you’re interested Paul Simon’s autobiography is out in paperback. It’s a surprisingly good read—he’s very honest about his life and career.

    “We walk by faith not by sight” “to believe he is who he says he is”
    Which comes first, the miracle or the faith? When the miracles show up were they always there or did our faith bring them. Or reveal them?
    Like the rainbow. Light is full of colors but God reveals such beauty as a sign of miracles that exist right in our everyday sight. So, faith must reveal what God has done from the beginning, yes? Faith glasses!

    Events are occurring in that ” cradle of liberty, Virginia ” boding ill for all of us in light of the current quasi-legal ” impeachment ” of a sitting President because they have the power to do so ! Virginia Governor Northam now ( thanks to the 11/19 elections ) now has the power to not merely disenfranchise but criminalize tens of thousands of law-abiding Virginians for possession of the means of self-defense ! Recall Jimmy Stewart’s role as patriarch of a Virginia family during our first civial war in Shandenoa ? How many more like him is Northam willing to create ? Already over 40 counties have declared themselves ” 2nd amendment sanctuaries” and duly elected sheriffs ( the peoples’ law enforcement organization ) are already planning to legally deputize their citizens in defense of their firearms possession ! ( BTW, this means they’re legal to possess automatic weapons ! ) Talking heads inside congress are trying to ‘smooth over ‘ current contratemps but it may be too little too late to influence the die cast by the rebels .

        Reminds me of Dr.George Tiller. He was late termed about a decade ago.
        Some blamed it on O’Reilly and his reporting, but I think the culpability was mostly on Mr. Tiller.

      The biggest problem in Virginia in my opinion is that most conservatives were claiming that George Soros was putting millions of dollars into the campaign to support the Democrats and their agenda. As it turned out, it wasn’t Soros at all, it was Bloomberg. He’s the one that donated millions in that election. We conservatives need to start paying closer attention to what we’re up against. With Virginia, regardless of whether or not we live there, it’s partly our fault for what happened there. But when Civil War 2 breaks out, it’ll more than likely start in Virginia.

    I’d have a slew of 30 second to 1 minute TV ads ready for the day after the full house impeachment votes. Target each one at districts POTUS won in 2016 which have a Democrat incumbent who voted for impeachment. Simple storyline…open with the reading of the articles of impeachment on the house floor, then a portrait of the target with a sound bite of their voice vote (Republicans need to call for a voice vote BTW), casting a yea. Show the voting results next on a split screen; POTUS’ margin of victory in that district in 2016 and the target’s margin in 2018. Close with a single image:

    “Remember in November”

    Drive a stake in their heart while the iron is still hot…and then run the ads again in those districts right before the election in November…just to help the remembering part…

        She should be toast in November 2020–big military and retiree population here, tons of new jobs at the world’s largest shipyard building up the Navy fleet…all the VA Republican Party needs to do is field a strong MAGA candidate. Give their piss poor effort in fielding winnable candidates this last election that is not a certainty unfortunately…

    according to Dershowitz, the SC action on POTUS appeals guts the 2nd article of impeachment. So does that have any legal bearing? Will Pelosi need to amend or postpone the vote until after March when the SC is scheduled to hear the cases?

    “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give unto you:…Let not your heart be troubled.” John xiv. 27

    Whenever a thing becomes difficult in personal experience, we are in danger of blaming God, but it is we who are in the wrong, not God, there is some perversity somewhere that we will not let go. Immediately we do, everything becomes as clear as daylight. As long as we try to serve two ends, ourselves and God, there is perplexity. The attitude must be one of complete reliance on God. When once we get there, there is nothing easier than living the saintly life; difficulty comes in when we want to usurp the authority of the Holy Spirit for our own ends.

    Whenever you obey God, His seal is always that of peace, the witness of an unfathomable peace, which is not natural, but the peace of Jesus. Whenever peace does not come, tarry till it does or find out the reason why it does not. If you are acting on an impulse, or from a sense of the heroic, the peace of Jesus will not witness; there is not simplicity or confidence in God, because the spirit of simplicity is born of the Holy Ghost, not of your decisions. Every decision brings a reaction of simplicity.

    My questions come whenever I cease to obey. When I have obeyed God, the problems never come between me and God, they come as probes to keep the mind going on with amazement at the revelation of God. Any problem that comes between God and myself springs out of disobedience; any problem, and there are many, that is alongside me while I obey God, increases my ecstatic delight, because I know that my Father knows, and I am going to watch and see how He unravels this thing.

      Because we ask, God is faithful but we may not be able to receive due to lack of righteousness (which is understanding Gods laws) in our heart and the teaching begins. Teaching not sickness or destruction even ignorance is ‘laid down’ and replaced by knowledge.

        Ok, so all these years we have been duped by appearances with these monsters right? But now we see them, they are revealed to us, well some of us others want deception.
        Now, in a court of law, which Jesus often refers to in his examples of God and his throne, facts are presented and revealed before the case moves to the verdict and punishment.
        I wouldn’t stand by either of those two at this point.

    A Brazilian comedy group has released a Netflix special Christmas film, a parody about gay Jesus bringing his boyfriend home to meet Mary and Joseph, and religious conservatives have reacted with great anger.

    Last December it released its first Netflix film Especial de Natal Porta dos Fundos (The Last Hangover), which won an International Emmy for best comedy this year.
    A parody of The Hangover, it follows the adventures of Jesus’s disciples after they wake up hungover the “morning after the Last Supper… wondering where their Messiah is”.

    To Ponder

    Let me ponder on Adam and Eve’s fall into sin (Genesis 3):

    1. How Eve did not repent when she sinned, but hastened to make her husband share in her sin.
    2. How Adam did not repent when he sinned, but tried to justify himself by accusing his wife.
    3. How many sinners today look for others to share in their sin, and accuse others in order to justify themselves.
