Wakey Wakey – Exit Polls Show Landslide Conservative Boris Johnson Win in U.K. Elections – Open Discussion Thread….

A “landslide”, a complete “wipe-out”, a “massive victory” appears looming for Boris Johnson and the conservative party in the U.K. if exit polls are accurate.

These blowout results guarantee a faster Brexit from the European Union and the leftist labor party in the U.K. has been crushed.  Conservatives look to have picked up 50 seats and Labor has lost 71 seats; the Scottish National Party (SNP) has picked up 20.

The “Remainers” in the U.K. have been decimated, and the voters who want to “Leave” the EU have fueled a massive victory for Boris Johnson.  Liberal heads are blown-out, bigly.

(Via Daily Mail) Boris Johnson hailed his new blue-collar Tory army tonight as it emerged he is on track to secure a staggering landslide in the election battle – with Labour’s ‘red wall’ of Brexit-backing strongholds imploding.

A dramatic exit poll shows voters handing the Tories a massive 368 seats, with Labour languishing on 191 – down 71 on 2017 and the worst performance in modern history.

The bombshell numbers would give a huge Commons majority of 86, the biggest since Margaret Thatcher’s triumph in 1987, and are equivalent to a 10-point lead in the popular vote. (more)

This result also has massive ramifications for a U.S-U.K trade deal; and subsequently major leverage for the U.S. (independently) and a U.S. – U.K. alliance in future trade negotiations against the European Union.

Brexit on the Sands of Time

Above all things the Brexit Circus has given us a metaphorical microscope with which to examine the putrid innards of the Palace of Westminster and far beyond. It has exposed in detail the full extent of the devious workings of the establishment and its fellow travellers and their blatant contempt for democracy. It has most of all peeled back layer by layer the darkly flawed construct that is the EU and revealed the motivations, control mechanisms and future intent of those presumptive masters across the ditch.

The EU and, to a lesser extent the USA, thanks to what remains of its once sound constitutional foundations, are both monoliths built with good intent but now drowning in an ideological cesspit created by a political class consumed by an insatiable lust for power.…

    • Ozymandias

I met a traveller from an antique land
Who said: “Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. Near them on the sand,
Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown
And wrinkled lip and sneer of cold command
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them and the heart that fed.
And on the pedestal these words appear:
`My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings:
Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair!’
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare,
The lone and level sands stretch far away”.

This earth of majesty, this seat of Mars,
          This other Eden, demi-paradise,
This fortress built by Nature for herself
Against infection and the hand of war,
This happy breed of men, this little world,
This precious stone set in the silver sea,
Which serves it in the office of a wall
Or as a moat defensive to a house,
Against the envy of less happier lands,—

Corbyn is giving a speech after his seat election results were announced. They had a guy from the Loony Party dressed up like a Monty Python character get about 200 votes, and he’s standing behind Corbyn as the latter speaks. The visual seems apropos.

So under the terms that Boris has been negotiating with the EU, how will that affect a free trade agreement with the US? I would assume No Deal would make it a lot cleaner.

The English hating bigots of the SNP live in La La Land. Scotland’s economy without its vast subsidies from the British Taxpayers would not meet the Economic Criteria needed to allow them to join the EU as a Sovereign Nation nor are they likely to ever meet those criteria.

  19. Pound SURGES to its highest level against the euro since 2016 just after the Brexit referendum and hits $1.35 as Boris Johnson sweeps to victory

The pound has surged to its highest level against the euro since July 2016 as Boris Johnson surged to victory in the general election.

Shortly after 10pm, the pound rose about two per cent against the dollar to reach $1.3469 and was up 1.6 percent against the euro at €1.2054.

Sterling was at its highest against the euro since the immediate aftermath of the EU referendum, and its highest in more than a year against the dollar.

Mr Johnson’s majority will end the months of deadlock in the House of Commons and bring an end to the uncertainty over Brexit.

It will also put an end to Jeremy Corbyn’s hopes of imposing higher taxes and nationalising industries.

Funny thing. Just yesterday I was reading how “tight” the race was. Today I read it’s a “blowout”! I can’t help but make a comparison to what was being said by the pollsters before the Brexit referendum vote compared to what the results were. Seems GB has the same problem we in the US do. The most reported polls lean left and their claims cannot be trusted. .

  26. Nigel Farage is going to remain vigilant with the “wet” Boris. I suspect Boris would pull a “soft” Brexit in a flash, if he has enough fellow wets in his majority.

Alas, establishment Boris can’t be trusted not to do a pretend Brexit where the EU Institutions still trump British law, Farage knows that.
Boris is also a Catastrophic Anthropogenic Global Warmist who wants UK “carbon neutral” by 2050.
He isn’t a Trumper, just better than the marxist ratbag Corbyn.

    • What do you think is the difference between Trump and Johnson? If you are interested, I have recently published an article on my blog about my reflections on the election result. If you are interested, let me know your thoughts on it!

  40. MNBV says:

If Boris was smart he’d encourage Scotland to leave, give them exactly what the SNP want.
No Labour govt in UK for decades, Scotland votes Labour or SNP, the SNP vote with Labor.
Rejoice in eliminating the massive Scottish welfare impost on English taxpayers. Let the EU subsidise the Scottish mendicant State. This is the reason Scotland will never vote for “independence”….too many know their parasitic existence is all over come exit UK time.
