Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell Outlines Upcoming Impeachment Trial and Process…

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell appears on Fox News to discuss the upcoming impeachment trial and the processes within the Senate that will be followed.

McConnell states he will be working closely with White House counsel and the President’s lawyers.  The Senate Leader said “there’s no chance the President is removed from office”.

.

[Sidebar (somewhat): I find it to be interesting timing for this interview… U.S-China trade agreement, phase-one, announced today and Senator McConnell comes out in full-throated defense of presidency. Perhaps just a coincidence.]

          Unfortunately, I have an uneasy feeling that there are many in the uniparty that would much prefer to not have an intensive trial in the Senate. I think many Republicans have been gaming the system, along with the Democrats, and have been enriching themselves through the pay to play schemes, not only in Ukraine, but in many countries receiving foreign aid from us. I think they’d like to put a quick end to any proceedings if indeed it actually reaches the Senate.

There’s one specific reason I think we’re 100% safe now, where we might not have been just a year ago. That’s about the time this got PERSONAL for Mitch and his wife. Attacked in their car, in restaurants, who knows when else. So while in the past the only thing in Mitch’s mind was what he could do to protect the swamp and globalism, now he MUST at least have a little tinge of doubt in his mind. He has learned a bit about what it’s like to be “othered”, and I suspect he doesn’t much like that.

    “The Dreyfus Affair (French: l’affaire Dreyfus) was a political scandal that divided the Third French Republic from 1894 until its resolution in 1906. The affair is often seen as a modern and universal symbol of injustice, and it remains one of the most notable examples of a complex miscarriage of justice.”

    The French Establishment and media of the time had their “proof” that Alfred Dreyfus colluded with the Russians Germans, but when all was said and done, Dreyfus was finally completely exonerated..

  7. Battleship Wisconsin says:

    Repeating one of my comments from a previous thread, Steve Bannon says that it is in President Trump’s best interests to seek a Senate trial where he is fully exonerated, not simply acquitted.

    In other words, the Senate trial would be used to send a powerful message to the American people that President Trump did nothing wrong at all, not simply that there wasn’t enough evidence to convict him.

    Thinking further about this strategy, then the Deep State’s and the Democrat’s coup against the President might be fought in two major but separate actions:

    — Use the Senate trial to expose the purely partisan nature of the House impeachment of the president by focusing very narrowly on Ukraine and on alleged abuse of power.

    — Allow the Durham investigation to proceed quietly forward without fanfare until such time as criminal indictments are issued.

    A narrowly focused Senate trial demonstrates to the voting public just where the Democrats are coming from. It also prepares the public for understanding the complexities and the motivations behind the Spygate story, once these have been fully revealed by the Durham investigation.

    In addition to keeping the public’s attention fully focused on topics that are digestible over shorter periods of time, doing it this way also has the benefit of not prejudicing any criminal trials prosecuted later against the Spygate perpetrators.

      No way the UNiparty wants a real impeachment trial, which would afford the President the right to defend himself, as well as discovery of the evidence. They don’t want to go on record, give testimony and be cross-examined.

      So they have no intention to go through with impeachment for this reason. These corrupt losers could not possibly withstand the scrutiny, and they know it. Instead, like Sundance said, they put on a fake impeachment show, making up the rules as they went, and only to affect public opinion and tarnish the President’s image leading up to the election.

          The impeachment trial must happen. It has been anticipated by Team Trump from the beginning which is why capturing the Senate in 2018 was critical. The impeachment trial will allow the President’s team to call witnesses and you can bet that a WHOLE lot of unsavory, criminal and seditious actions will be revealed. This is the best way – along with Durham’s investigation, Rudy’s work, etc. – to get a lot of information into the record (and in front of the American people (and let’s be honest, the world) legally.

          I believe President Trump and military intelligence have war-gamed this whole thing from the beginning…it was, from the beginning of his presidency, a foregone conclusion that impeachment would be the end game for the Left.

      There is much reasonable debate on our side whether the Senate should quickly acquit, or have a more prolonged trial. I think there is merit on both sides. However, I am on the side of the more prolonged process. This is our first chance to get the real facts out into the public. A longer trial will make it harder for the media to keep up their obfuscation of the facts.

      A quick dismissal will only add fuel to the fire for the progressives that the Senate is only covering for the President and serving as his lackey. I want to take names and no prisoners. We’ve been waiting for this for so long. The Dems knew they’d never get a conviction in the Senate. All they wanted was to tarnish Trump with “He’s only the third president in history to be impeached.” If we abbreviate the trial in the Senate we will give them exactly what they wanted. “We impeached him, his cronies in the Senate obstructed a full hearing, and we need to get rid of him.”

      It’s sickening when you think of all the machinations going on with people like Mitch and Lindsey. I think both of them are up to their eyeballs in corruption and are doing their best to play things both ways. I sincerely hope I’m wrong.

      He will never be exonerated as far as the Democrats are concerned. They believe he’s guilty as hell of treason, bribery, conspiracy, and whatever charge they have ever accused him of. They will not accept the results of the Senate trial no matter how many witnesses testify because they will claim he obstructed and hid evidence or extorted witnesses to testify in his favor. The best that can be expected is total crushing at the pols and then maybe some of the survivors might decide it’s expedient to work with Orange Man Bad instead of trying to overthrow him.

      He knows there will plenty of influence he can exert, in combination with Graham and Chief,Roberts, to effect how the proceedings go.

      I agree the ‘best’outcome for the anti-Trump forces, is for the House prosecutors to reiterate all their Orange man bad complaints, that we have heard ad nauseum, to ‘tarnish’ PDJT as much as possible, with minimal refutation.
      Then Senate,Repubs vote not to go any farther. House Dems, paint this as,Republican whitewash.

      THIS is what the anti-Trump forces will be angling for, and what PDJT’s defenders should resist, instead pushing for a full trial, where they can shred the ‘prosecutions’case, AND expose the,corruption,…ALL the corruption in Congress.

    Senators on the different FNC shows tonight making highly definitive statements that not only will Trump be acquitted, but that they plan to rake the Democrats over the coals for this phony impeachment. In part, I think that is to tell Democrats in the House who are “on the fence” that their vote will be utterly meaningless in harming Trump. And, to let them know that the GOP fully intends to use the Senate trial to destroy multiple members of the Democrat House leadership as well as the Coup Part Two plotters at State Dept, NSC, and elsewhere.

    I’m still at 51% odds that the House passes the articles of impeachment from the full House. They’re admitting “six” defections, which means the real number is probably double that. If they lose 19 votes, impeachment is dead, and that seems plausible at this point particularly given what is going on in the UK tonight. I still think the rage heads will carry the day, but it will be a bipartisan “no vote”.

    If the vote fails, I’d like to see HJC hold hearings to investigate the House of Representatives. Starting with the fake whistleblower. HJC should make it clear that the purpose of the hearings is to determine if there was a criminal enterprise behind the House’s fake impeachment.

    I’m more of a fan of the Senate doing its Constitutional duty to “receive” the articles of impeachment, followed by a swift, closed-door vote to acquit. The articles of impeachment are meritless, and should not be given the dignity of a full-up trial. However, I do see the merit of a trial that puts Democrats, Bureaucrats, and others under oath in the middle of the Democrat primaries.

And who else was in on it. Get to Ciaramella’s data and you probably get records of his contacts with Schiff’s office. Issue actual subpoenas of phone records, for example, to find out how often they were talking to each other. We also need more insight into that “last second” rule change that the ICIG implemented which allowed for hearsay whistleblower reporting.

This trial, if it happens, is going to be a massive counterattack directly focused on Schiff, Nadler, Ciaramella, Vindman, Sondland, Taylor, Yovanovitch, Atkinson, and the Bidens. That’s probably one of the reasons Democrats decided to take the Mueller stuff out of the articles of impeachment – because it would have opened the door for Trump to call Brennan, Comey, McCabe, Weissman, Mueller, etc. to unmask that conspiracy as well.

        Big points: This is the Senate, not a courtroom. Chief Justice will preside, but will not guide the direction of trial. The Senate Leader will be joined to the Trump legal team, and will follow their lead. All senators are likely to vote against. Both sides will present their arguments, and President’s team might not present witnesses. A vote could be swift!
        50/50 the Impeachment vote in House will fail!!

    If articles of impeachment are passed, I hope and pray that the President is able to use the Senate trial to 1) exonerate himself and 2) demonstrate the fraudulent nature of the House impeachment process and humiliate the House Democrats.

    But the Senate trial will not touch the issue of Joe Biden and the Biden Crime Family’s corrupt involvement in Ukraine, because there is more than one ex-Senator or current Senator milking Ukraine.

    As much as I’d like to see the Bidens both subjected to public humiliation, it won’t be the Senate that does it. Biden is a “made member”.

    But there is no reason Trump can’t use the process to publicly expose the perpetrators of the Ukraine hoax including Ciaramella, Chalupa, Jovanovich, Schiff, Nadler, Pelosi et al as frauds and perjurers.

    I look forward to the trial. I might actually watch it live.

Attendance at his rallies never wavered, donations went up, and his ratings went up. They can’t remove him with us behind him, so keep fighting with him.

    I think McConnell has possibly “gamed this out” various different ways and concluded (correctly, IMO) that the Repubs will get smeared by the Fake News Media regardless of whether there is a trial and a vote to exonerate, or the Senate just rejects the sham impeachment articles right at the beginning.

    But I think even if there isn’t a trial, the truth about a LOT of the coup conspiracy is going to surface despite Mitch’s efforts.

  29. As the impeachment insanity drags on, I am feeling surprisingly optimistic tonight. Leftists and Remoaners got trounced in UK tonight, it was brutal. The NYSE hit another all time high. An interim trade deal has just been struck with China. Two days ago Crazy Nancy said she will pass the USMCA. The IG report is devastating for Russia Hoaxers.

    ….And any fair minded person knows the Articles are WEAK AF…

    SO WHAT’S NEXT:

    Crazy Nancy and her little minions are in a cul de sac, a dead end tunnel and they have no good options yet. They have to be feeling like al Baghdadi did when he realized he ran down the wrong tunnel and Conan started racing towards him…

    I am not convinced Nancy has the votes. I have heard of at least 9 Ds who will probably vote against. If 9 then why not 25. It could still fail. If it fails it will be a total humiliation and disgrace for them. They are on course for obliteration in 2020.

    If it passes then the Senate trial is going to be a show for the ages. Over a decade of training on the Apprentice has prepared Donald Trump for this moment. Lindsay Graham says the trial will be over quickly, but Mitch McConnell and the White House say, “not so fast”…

    Watch these two clips: Mitch McConnell on Sean Hannity tonight, followed by a 3 minute Laura Ingraham with Ed Henry segment.

    McConnell: “we will be coordinating directly with WH counsel and this case will be run the way the administration wants it to. It’s up to them whether or not they want to call any witnesses.”

    Henry: “word out of the White House is they want to have this be a long trial with many witnesses including Joe Biden, Hunter Biden, Adam Schiff etc.”

    From a Breitbart poster: Twas the night before Impeachment, When all through the House
    Not a Creature was Stirring, Not even Louse

    The articles were hung, By the Gavel with care
    In hopes that some votes Would be cast there.

    The Democrats were nestled all snug in their beds;
    While visions of victory danced in their heads;

    And Nanzi with her dentures, and Nadler in his drool,
    Had just settled their brains for a long winter’s rule,

    When out of the polls there arose such a clatter,
    They sprang from their hubris to see what was the matter.

    Away to Windows they flew like a flash,
    Tore open the screen and booted up the stash.

    The full weight on the breast of the new-fallen news,
    Gave a lustre of midday to subjects who knew,

    When what to their wondering eyes did appear,
    But the IG Report and 17 little fears,

    With a terse answer here so lively and quick,
    They knew in a moment he must be a prick.

    More rapid than eagles the defectors they came,
    And they whistled, and shouted, and called them by name:

    “Now, Schiffer! now, Nadler! now and Nanzi, you Vixen!
    On, Comey! on, Stelter! on, Cooper and Blitzer!

    To the top of the capitol! to the top of the hall!
    Now dash away! dash away! dash away all!”

    As leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
    When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky;

    So up to the House floor the Liars they flew
    With articles full of ploys, and their reputations too—

    And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the news
    The panic and polling of each little stooge.

    As I scratched my head, and was turning around,
    Down came the drool from Nadler with a bound.

    He was dressed in those pants, buckled under armpits,
    And his clothes were all rumbled from dribble and spit;

    A bundle of papers he had flung in his sack,
    And he looked like a pedler just opening his pack.

    His eyes—were so hollow! his jowels, how dour!
    His cheeks were so ashen, his pout so sour!

    His droll little mouth was drawn up like a sow,
    And the spittle on his chin made him resemble a cow;

    The stump of a tooth he held tight in his teeth,
    And the stench, it encircled his head like a wreath;

    He had a broad face and a huge round belly
    That shook when he mumbled, like a bowl full of jelly.

    He was chubby and plump, a right ugly old troll,
    And I laughed when I saw him, get up and then roll;

    A blink of his eye and a twist of his head
    Soon gave me to know he was very near dead;

    He spoke no sense, but went straight to his work,
    And filled all the articles; then turned with a jerk,

    And sticking his finger inside of his nose,
    And giving a nod, up the nostril it rose;

    He lollygogged to his team and gave a gavel,
    And away they all flew like a motley rabble.

    But I heard him exclaim, ere he hobbled out of sight—
    “Tomorrow we vote our party out of sight!”

    The “experts” who watch the polls tell us that PDJT’s approval goes up when he sticks to the real issues.

    Mounting a full scale defense, dragging it out over months, has at least the potential of being perceived (and undoubtedly will be portrayed) as NOT sticking to the real issue, but instead wreaking revenge on his political enemies. There will be no indictments in any Senate trial.

    So ‘justice’ is not going to come in the Senate, though ‘political revenge’ might. ‘Justice’ is going to come from Durham and Barr. Complete with indictments In late Spring, early Summer.

    Perfect timing.

    So do you go for the big show trial?

    Or you you let Cocaine Mitch swat this away like it sort of really deserves. So that the Senate does not set a precedent and also besmirch the Constitution, along with the Majority in the House.

    What to do? If this were Nanci her head would be spinning with focus groups.

    I know PDJT will be unerring in selecting the option that will most benefit him. Assuming he has a real choice (and McConnell is actually going to relinquish control to the WH on this like he says.)
