This is a TV show. One problem they’re having is that their witnesses are not physically attractive, or compelling people.

John Dean, at the Watergate Hearings, had his gorgeous wife Maureen sitting right behind him. The TV Networks had her on camera surely as much as him. Anita Hill was an attractive woman. Blasey-Ford made a poor choice for a middle-aged woman, adopting the Betty Boop cartoon voice. And the dirty eyeglasses signalled a crackpot.

Vindman is an intensely ugly man. The uniform doesn’t save him; probably alienates the Left even more. You could split wood with the face of Williams, this morning’s other witness. And Schiff’s “ET, phone home” physiognomy is mostly all people notice about him.

George Kent at least wore the bow tie, which was a cunning choice, when his message was stability and permanence.

When you’re selling the sizzle, not the steak, which the Democrats are attempting here, the sizzle better not sound like a Swalwell fart.

      Well, we pay taxes.
Congress passes bills to give that money away overseas.
The people overseas love this so much they give Democrats and RINOS “finders’ fees”, campaign contributions, donations to “foundations” ran by politicians, hire politicians’ family members or former staff, etc.

So that’s why Congress votes to do it.

I’m thinking Vinnie was a ringer in uniform meant more for his presence than his substance. Funny how a Ukrainian-born, liberal university educated officer who worked in the US embassies (State) in Moscow and Kiev (his hometown) suddenly shows up in a Ukrainian-based conspiracy (right after a Rat spawned Russian conspiracy).

I’m thinking he has hi-level DC coverage – his career in the DoD’s probably ove (he may hake 0-6…may) and I’m seeing his sponsors moving him to a cushy job somewhere. Mabe in a Ukrainian petroleum concern?

Why would so many people from Congress need to go to Ukraine from 2014-2019?

Especially why would Graham and McCain need to visit Ukraine so quickly (Dec 2016) after Trumps victory in Nov.

Why was it so urgent for them to go to Ukraine??

Someone should FOIA all the trips by Congress people to Ukraine and build out a timeline.

My bet is Ukraine had more Congressional visits than any other country on the planet and if so why all the attention.

Build the timeline and IMO it will help zero in on key people.

Curious as to more info on Volker, esp. after it was specifically mentioned that he Volunteered in the last 2 years. Why/how did he have the $ to work on a volunteer basis in a high profile job?

Info from Wikipedia (so biased and filtered)
    1) “On July 7, 2017, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson appointed Ambassador Kurt Volker as the US Special Representative for Ukraine Negotiations.[22][23] Volker accompanied Tillerson on his trip to Ukraine two days later. On September 27, 2019, Volker resigned from this official, yet volunteer, position”
    2) Public servant until…
“Volker went into the private sector in 2009, becoming an independent director at The Wall Street Fund Inc,[11] where he worked until 2012. He was a member of the board of directors at Capital Guardian Funds Trust[12] beginning in 2013.[13] Volker was also an independent director at Evercore Wealth Management Macro Opportunity Fund until 2012.[14]

Volker served as a senior advisor at McLarty Associates, a global consulting firm from 2010–2011.

In 2011, he joined BGR Group, a Washington-based lobbying firm and investment bank, where he currently serves as a managing director in the firm’s international group.[15]

He then became executive director of Arizona State University’s McCain Institute for International Leadership[16] when it was launched[17] in 2012. He resigned in 2019.[18]

He has been a Senior Fellow at the Center for Transatlantic Relations, Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies since September 2009, and a Senior Advisor at the Atlantic Council since October 2009. Volker is currently listed as a trustee at the CG Funds Trust,[19] and a member of the board of trustees at IAU College in Aix-en-Provence. He is also a member of the board of directors at The Hungary Initiatives Foundation.[20] In addition, Volker is a member of the Atlantic Partnership[21] with such luminaries as Senator Sam Nunn, Dr Henry Kissinger, former Secretary of Defense William Cohen, and Lord Powell of Bayswater among others.”

So, connections to leftist/globalist Atlantic Council. Hmmm…

Completely a public servant in the State Dept. etc. until 2009 when he is suddenly hired and somehow qualified for managing investments funds on Wall Street? What did these firms gain by hiring him? On what qualifications did they hire him? Why? What expertise did he provide, that they were willing to pay him enough that he is now a volunteer with authority?

Tillerson hired him. Why? How did he know him previously? Why is he allowed to stay on as a “volunteer”? Does that make him harder to supervise? To whom does he report as a “volunteer”?

What are the connections of these investment firms to Hunter Biden’s connections/firm and to Ukrainian firms during the Obama admin? What conflicts of interests does Volker have?

Trial witnesses must answer questions from both the defense & the prosecutor, how is this any different?

    • Nevertheless, “we certainly don’t need to treat ‘Joe Biden,’ ‘Crowdstrike,’ nor anything else as “taboo subjects.” We don’t need to step forward on any political officer’s behalf to say that (s)he did, or didn’t, discuss them. Neither should we suggest that any sort of “inducement” was needed to “persuade” Ukraine to discuss them … or, to criminally pursue them … on its own volition.

The simple facts of the matter are not only that “Ukraine has been ‘famously corrupt,'” but also that very highly placed American lawmakers have been “famously involved” in plenty of it. We would be remiss if we failed to further notice that this list of offenders includes all of the people (Nadler, Schiff, Pelosi, Biden, Obama, others) who are right now driving “the impeachment narrative.”

Lady Justice, if you may recall, wears a blindfold. Therefore, let her wear a blindfold now. Ukraine’s interests align with our own (in an alignment that is confirmed by a ratified treaty). That interest is law enforcement. The particular concern of that interest is corruption. So, if anyone elsewhere in the American Government right now finds himself or herself with bloody hands, well, “that’s not the concern of either President.” Both of whom are simply doing their Duty to the millions of individuals who elected them.
