    This is a coup.

Only the OMB guys, Mulvaney, Pence and Guiliani have said they aren’t testifying because of the sham process. Why aren’t more of these witnesses (government workers) objecting to the lack of transparency to the American people. This should all be public. I don’t mind if they testify, it just should be done in public.

Now you have a high ranking department of defense person testifying in this sham impeachment process. That is a bridge too far for me.

This is undermining free and fair elections.

He, Ratliffe, and all of our favorites are out there exposing the impeachment hoax for what it is. However, what we need them to do is to also be out front and being as forceful condemning Romney and any other GOP senator who even hints at voting to convict the president when the senate trial comes.

Their loud, consistent, and persuasive voices directed at wavering GOP senators MAY be the winning hand this President needs.

Hopefully, they wont go silent at that time.

It’s not the secrecy that is making this a sham.
Starr worked pretty much in secret, and it used to be impeachment trials were conducted outside of public view.
I understand that conducting the instant proceedings in public would tend to stifle the shamsters. At the same time, errors in statting principle, for example claiming that secrecy is per se a sign of sham process, will come back to bite.
This process is a sham because the players are partisan hacks who have predetermined the outcome. Welcome to the politics of failed institutions. The GOP pulls the same stuff when making public policy.

Are you talking about Kenneth Starr or the English Starr Chamber that was in effect from the 15th Century to the 17th Century?

Kenneth Starr was an Independent Counsel that worked under US law.

Are you saying that the Democrat controlled House is working within in the law or even within norms and precedents set forth since the 1868?

          Kenneth Starr.
No, I am not saying the Hosue is working within norms. It is not. The process is a sham. But it not secrecy that makes it a sham.

What makes this a sham is that they are pretending to conduct a criminal trial … to find(!) that a person has committed some crime … when the House is expressly forbidden to do that by our Constitution. And, they are doing it in secret, attempting to deny not only the accused but their own colleagues access to what they are doing. Now, they expect to draw up Articles that no one has seen before, and to simply pass it on a party-line vote.

Well, since they are accusing someone of a crime, why doesn’t the Sixth Amendment apply? Oh. “Because you don’t want it to.” Gotcha.

Someone needs to tell those fools: STOP LISTENING TO LAWFARE! Their very expensive legal advice isn’t worth 💩

The role of the House is akin to that of investigator or prosecutor in a criminal case. They are not conducting a trial, they are preparing a charge.
What makes theire preparation of a charge a sham is that they are converting legal and normal executive activity into something they claim i untoward and ruinous toward US government. In fact, it is the House that is subverting norms, not Trump.
They are using the new age Weissman/Clinton methods. Bad scene all around. This sort of person should never be allowed near power, yet our federal government is infested with them.

The major mistake you make in your discussion and analogy, is that the crimes are to be defined and then investigations are to be conducted, after a vote, into the defined crimes (i.e. the article of impeachment). The Democrat Committees are in perpetual hunting mode actually creating the crimes. No articles of impeachment have been proposed, which outline the offenses the House would then “INVESTIGATE”.

That is the major flaw and mistake in your discussion.

        • cboldt says:

One other thought. The House is akin to Nifong. Nifong’s sham didn;t manifest itself “under the law” until Nifong had the accused arreted and broiught to trial. The parallel step in an impeachment is the House passing articles of impeachment (we aren’t close to that right now) and walking them over to the Senate.
It is in the Senate where Trump would have the right of confrontation and affirmative defense, etc.
We don’t let suspects argue against search warrants. The control there is to demand honorable conduct from the investigator. What we have in the House is dishonorable investigators. The remedy is kick them out of office, becuase they aren;t going to police their own skunks. The House is an utterly failed institution.

          • thedoc00 says:

You give a pretty good outline of events but leave out the House is supposed to first define the crimes, vote on the need to investigate and then investigate those crimes. The Democrat Committees are actually “creating” the crimes (as you yourself said by defining normal Executive branch actions as a crime) and then not allow a bipartisan discussion or even vote on those crimes. Also, the discussion and vote on definition of the crimes, portion of the impeachment proceedings, has been made public in the past, to include Nixon and Clinton. Yes, there were more secret deliberations than public discourse but both parties were allowed to publicly comment on investigations. There was allot more public discourse of the impeachments than you allow in your discussions. I watched them on TV at the time.

So, besides no votes, no discourse, no disclosures, we have one party attempting to control all the discourse with selective and out of context controlled release f materials they declassify as needed.

I have a question for everyone. We were watching NBC prior to the president’s announcement this morning (couldn’t look away – I had no idea it had gotten this bad) and noticed something weird. They had their foreign correspondent Richard Engel on, hyperventilating about our “betrayal of the Kurds.” But while he was on camera talking the screen kept cutting to him with two black eyes, a bandage across his nose, and blood on his chin. And it wasn’t just a still picture. The image of a beat-up Engel was talking, his chin was moving as he spoke, then it cut back to regular Engel, also chin moving and talking. It was two identical images transposed, like they were layering on injuries, then taking them away, as he spoke.

Can anyone here explain what was going on with this? Extremely strange.

Simplest explanation is that whoever was testifying knew there were now people listening who could call their bullshit when the time is right. Witness got cold feet. Can’t convince stooges to testify if the stooges know there will be experts sitting there who know the background on what you were going to testify about and will call you’re bullshit later, at crunch time.

That is the purpose of a the Schiff Rule requiring a democrat member of committee be present and a log being created to cover materials read and/or removed.

Tulsi, as evidenced by her Harris dismemberment, can probably take out anyone she sets her sights on. That means, she could possibly take out certain front runners, thus allowing one dem primary candidate to win enough delegates for a first ballot win.

It could be she’s working with another dem candidate, or it could be she’s a Judas Goat working for the good guys (active duty military) to ensure that the biggest dem fish is the one that gets the nod.

I hear all this talk about her past & policies, etc., that would show she’s not working with the good guys. I’m not discounting that argument, however, I could also argue that, in her Judas Goat role, that’s what’s we’re supposed to be thinking. If she wore a “Trump 2020” shirt up on the debate stage it would certainly be easier to take a deeper look at the undercover angle, I guess.

    • NATO-Ally Turkey’s President Erdogan promises to clean up the 1% ISIS residue in Syria, so President Trump simply agrees … assigning REGIONAL OWNERSHIP for Neighborhood Security.

    • If Turkey fails to honor their commitment, or uses it to persecute the Kurds, they’re NO LONGER an ALLY, RAISING their DUPLICITY for using Khashoggi to set up their arch-rival MBS of Saudi Arabia.

    • Trump’s pull-out HONORS yet another CAMPAIGN COMMITMENT.

    • He triggers the Media-DemBot Complex to again PROVE they’re FAKE NEWS by duplicitously criticizing him for actions that they extolled Obama for taking and for LEAVING a VACUUM.

    • He got the D-Rats to PROVE they’re now the WAR-MONGERING PARTY.

    • POTUS secretly embeds Saudi Arabian Military to replace withdrawn American forces at a newly-constructed base in Syria
    … LEAVING NO VACUUM and
… setting the table for Saudi-Turkish TEAMING to DEMONSTRATE REGIONAL OWNERSHIP for Neighborhood Security.

    • The Saudi role will cement the Saudi-Israeli-Jordanian ALLIANCE.

    • The Saudi role positions MBS to HONOR his COMMITMENT to PROTECT the KURDS with a SAFE ZONE (overlooked by everyone).

    • Trump’s Withdrawal-and-Replacement action ENTANGLES RUSSIA in MEDIATION or FIGHTING over who-gains-what in Syria amongst Turkey, Iraq, Iran, the Kurds and the Saudi Alliance.

    • His decision to leave ENDS CONTENTIOUS DEBATE (a good thing) over his Regional Ownership policy to TRANSFORM AMERICA’s DEFENSE ROLE
… from ENDLESS CONFLICT as FRONT-LINE FIGHTERS for other nations’ interests
… to MILITARY BACKSTOP for Existential Threats to America.

    • This triggers RESIGNATIONS of ADMINISTRATION ANTI-TRUMPERS (SecDef Mattis and Special Envoy to Defeat ISIS McGurk), whose announcements prevented political fallout by eroding their own reputations with their chicken-little demands that we needlessly keep our troops in harm’s way.

    Our VSG POTUS or what!

Yes! PT has been weaving a big beautiful peace tapestry, intertwining major regional players in an amazingly creative way. Achieving such a great outcome clearly is a manifestation of sheer genius. I’m grateful for the brilliant leadership President Trump and his magnificent team have provided the American people!

Could this simply be a sub contractor spraying a weed killer on the ground. I’m guessing the wall is actually a few feet back from the border and US Border Patrol doesn’t want weeds 5 feet high obscuring what’s going on. If anyone remembers, the Border Patrol wanted a fence they could see through instead of an actual wall.

      • Maybe boogystew, but you do not get a lot of weeds in the desert.

I was born and raised there and if you want ANYTHING to grow in the southwest desert it must be planted, cultivated and watered very lovingly.

Any weeds that manage to grow will only be about 6 inches tall at the most and very sparse.

I grew up in the AZ desert, plants can grow amazingly quickly with just a small amount of rainfall, doesn’t take much at all.

Another possibility is spraying for insects, spiders, etc., that might cause problems. Critters can excavate huge holes, cavities in the ground, maybe not desirable for maintenance of optimal integrity. But who knows what was really going on in that picture.

          • I know what you mean about plants growing in the desert after rainfall.

But then they die off as quickly.

            No water no life.

Yes an animal burrowing under is possible but I thought that there was concrete under this wall going down quite a ways.

I also understood that the wall had sensors imbedded so the Border Patrol would know if anyone was messing around.

As you say who knows what was really going on in that picture.

I do hope that the BP had their eye on this guy.

Well they sure would know about it since the video has been pretty widely circulated.

True enough, vegetation dies back when things dry out. But the “ghosts” of plants clinging to, or supported by the vertical posts could obscure viewing through the openings, particularly at night.

Probably a safe bet that the guy was doing something that was purposeful. It is for sure a big beautiful Wall isn’t it?

We know the EXACT spot where this spraying is going on. A Border Patrol agent should clue us in on the nature of the spraying or investigate it.

          Liked by 1 person

          • Yes, they should if the spraying was BP or other law enforcement approved.

Along the border in Arizona the BP would put out a press release when ever they had some kind of activity going on that might catch the attention of the legal locals.

If not they or other law enforcement would be overwhelmed with calls.

Like what is going on right now.

I don’t think anyone should jump to conclusions. The wall, both sides of it, are US property. The guy is probably just spaying for weeds. It’s improper to refer to him as “Mexican” when he could be a US citizen.

So Schiff is bogged down and taking fire with the Ukraine stuff. Pelosi is flailing to keep her ducks aligned and in tune in Syria and Afghanistan after Abdullah told her to FO and the Turks and Kurds just announced they’re BFF and coming to DC to celebrate. No tapped phone calls to worry about at Trump DC.

Now the Italians are ready to spill the beans.

Here’s the other thing coming, I’m guessing. The Katie Hill thing might just be the taking of the first pawn in the voter fraud campaign. She won close over Steve Knight (120 votes?) in CA. Smells like the vote harvesting BS, so I think the good guys are giving Hill the option to take the hit on the staffer ethics charge and resign or the the whole election fraud enchilada will be served up. This would give the other dem frosh something to think about before they dig in come impeachment vote time. Good old fashioned hard ball by the good guys with some chin music for Hill to show they mean business. Don’t know why they picked her, though.

Just a SWAG. I just don’t believe in coincidences wrt the timing.
