Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

    The Peace of God

“Peace with God” is one thing; “the peace of God” is another. To enjoy the latter, we must first experience the former, for the peace of God, ruling in our hearts, is the result of “peace with God, through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

St. Paul declared by divine inspiration that “[Christ] was delivered for our offences and was raised again for our justification” and that “therefore, being justified by faith,” we, who once were at enmity with God, may enjoy “peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ” (Rom. 4:25; 5:1). The result of “peace with God” is “the peace of God,” the peace that He gives to His own amid all the troubles of life. This is why the Apostle wrote to the Roman Christians:

“Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing” (Rom. 15:13).

While only those who are at peace with God can — and should know “the peace of God,” it does not follow, however, that all those who are at peace with God necessarily enjoy “the peace of God.” Believers can enjoy “the peace of God” only as they practice Phil. 4:6:

As we follow these instructions the promise which follows will certainly be fulfilled.

As believers in Christ “we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose” (Rom. 8:28). Therefore we
should not be constantly overwhelmed and defeated by the adversities of life, but should heed the exhortation; “Let the peace of God rule in your hearts” (Col. 3:15).

    By Pastor Cornelius R. Stam

Romans 4:25 Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.
Rom 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

Rom 15:13 Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

Philippians 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Colossians 3:15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

My wife and I volunteered with/for Catherine Engelbrecht beginning in 2010 just before the midterm election where Republicans took back the house. She ran an organization in Houston called King Street Patriots where fellow citizens met to hear from their representatives in Washington or candidates running for office such as Ted Cruz whom I had the pleasure of speaking with before he was elected to his first term.
Catherine Engelbrecht also stated True the Vote to help expose and weed out election fraud, which by the way is in fact real and rampant in the US, and also train volunteers on how to legally get involved in the process of defending free and fair elections.

This is amazing. And, a spider spinning a web is one of the arguments against Evolution.

Evolutionary theory says that all the abilities and unique characteristics we see in any species have their basis in genetics, and the genes to support the abilities first occurred by mutations, and then allowed that single individual organism with the mutation to reproduce so much more successfully relative to others around him or her that the gene was not fleetingly lost, but was added to the gene pool, and eventually became an essential part of that species.

The scenarios of how insects might have first become able to produce silk AND spin a web stretches credibility. Way farther than any of Kipling’s Just So stories. [If you have not read any, go look these up. They are brief and clever. Each gives something akin to an evolutionist’s highly contrived story.]

When they teach us mutations and acquired characteristic, they usually teach us about one gene being mutated, and having some functional change. But for a physical body to manufacture silk, a great deal of genetics-based engineering has to happen.

So, did all of those genes fall into place, and then one day the final gene got mutated, and that spider turned around and saw all of the silk coming out of his body?

Along with the ability to suddenly produce silk, the spider all of a sudden has the knowledge to set up a web with the silk that is all of a sudden coming out of his body? And that knowledge came from a genetic mutation? This is all beyond credulity.

Now, the story might be that this first spider strung out one line. But it was so successful in providing food that it supported the spider, and subsequent generations, and MORE mutations happened that built the web-building genes?

i teach scouts to tie knots. We humans, at our adolescence, have a challenge learning and memorizing knots. These spiders are not teaching each other. It has to be in the genetics.

When I became a Christian, I carried on believing in evolution, in “science,” for a while. And then, when looking at you tuber videos on sermons and lectures, I stumbled on a couple seriously criticizing evolution. I had never heard anything like this in all of my life. In school, they give the simple basics of mutations, and then simply hand-wave to the next step – incredibly complex, unlikely processes such as the production of silk AND the technology for web spinning, all from randomness, and, even more unlikely, randomness captured in genetic code changes.

They hand-wave and say “science.” So that we don’t investigate or critically think any further. I changed my views. Part was just learning about our God-created world, and also by hearing various things and pondering things. Evolution producing a spider with the ability to spin a web with silk one day oozing out of him is just a bridge too far.

The example they always gave us in grade school, about the giraffe developing a long neck to reach the leaves at the top of trees, seemed to me even then, putting the cart before the horse.
What, all the short-necked giraffes were starving, until the lucky few with longer necks kept going higher and higher up the tree?

Why don’t deer have longer necks than they used to, then?
Up in New York’s Adirondacks, you can see the line at the bottom of the trees where they nibble when food gets scarce.
Really, that line should be halfway up the tree by now, and we should be looking at long-neck deer.

Or how in the last century with increased access to better nutrition and medical care the average height for the Japanese increased by about 6 inches. Might that have been to a spontaneous mutation designed to assist them with reaching the sushi on the top buffet shelf?

        • TheLastDemocrat says:

The point about the short-necked giraffes is yet another fundamental weakness.

All of the noted qualities of the different species are supposed to have been found to be highly adaptive, under the great survival pressure -yet, the mutations arose from a healthy, functioning population in order to springboard forward.

If they are healthy enough to survive, then how much more can one mutation in one individual add relative advantage? Would not the other un-mutated individuals carry on reproducing as they had been, for generations?

The Evolutionists have had to wrestle with this, and have doubled-down on evolution almost always happening when one group gets isolated from the rest. Sheesh. More Kipling Just So.

“But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret.” Matthew vi. 6

The main idea in the region of religion is – Your eyes upon God, not on men. Do not have as your motive the desire to be known as a praying man. Get an inner chamber in which to pray where no one knows you are praying, shut the door and talk to God in secret. Have no other motive than to know your Father in heaven. It is impossible to conduct your life as a disciple without definite times of secret prayer.

But when ye pray use not vain repetitions…(v.7). God does not hear us because we are in earnest, but only on the ground of Redemption. God is never impressed by our earnestness. Prayer is not simply getting things from God, that is a most initial form of prayer; prayer is getting into perfect communion with God. If the Son of God is formed in us by regeneration, He will press forward in front of our common sense and change our attitude to the things about which we pray.

“Everyone that asketh receiveth.” We pray pious blather, our will is not in it, and then we say God does not answer; we never asked for anything. “Ye shall ask what ye will,” said Jesus. Asking means our will is in it. Whenever Jesus talked about prayer, He put it with the grand simplicity of a child: we bring in our critical temper and say – Yes, but…Jesus said “Ask”. But remember that we have to ask of God things that are in keeping with the God Whom Jesus Christ revealed.

Here’s a situation that ties into what NGOs and not-for-profits have becoming, in my opinion lucrative rackets for connected individuals.

I know a woman who has from time to time babysat a friend’s autistic child, who can be challenging to people who are otherwise perfectly qualified to babysit.
The mother of the autistic child mentioned a certification process the woman could undergo, and she could then get paid through a special fund when she babysits.

Today the woman is going to the agency, and bringing documentation which will be used in the screening process. Fine.
One of the things she was told to bring, which raised my eyebrows, was a money order for 25 dollars, made out to NYS Child and Family Services.
    Wait, what?
New York State pays this agency to perform the background investigations necessary for this kind of work, which means good-paying jobs for the people at the agency, and the job seeker is expected to pay a fee for the certification?
If you get hired by NYS to work in one of its group homes, for instance, you go through screening and training, but you do not pay for it.

    Does this sound right?

Very interesting day. This afternoon Joel Gilbert will have a screening at the National Press Club of The Trayvon Hoax.

I know many at CTH are certainly well informed about the hoax. However, I know WeeWeed, Chip, Jello, maybe even Sundance, and others will be surprised at the amount of research conducted and the surprising results.

Last week I saw the movie and read the book. Certainly, I was surprised by the facts. Clearly, I believe we all knew witness number 8 was not talking to Trayvon as was sworn to at trial. However, who was talking to Trayvon surprised me. More surprising is how one individual saw, knew, and spoke to both individuals. However, with millions of dollars at risk, she said nothing. I hope she will be held accountable for her scam.

I would encourage everyone to both read the book and see the movie. I promise, you’ll be surprised.

We were talking about Iran using the Houthi as a cutout/proxy in the attack on the Saudi oil facilities and up pops this Iranian tweet:

(Sorry, can’t post the Tweet, only the URL)

The Tweet’s a threat to some unnamed foreign Navy that Hezbollah has the missiles to sink foreign ships. Note the Hezbollah logo on the side of what’s an Iranian Noor ASM. So far the alleged Houthis have allegedly fired alleged Noor missiles at the USS Mason as it sailed off the Yemeni coast in 2016. The Navy still hasn’t confirmed details though about the same time a UAE-leased ship was hit by what was proven to be an Iranian Noor ASM as it sailed off Yemen. We were, under Obama, busy laying US lip to Ayatollah butt so we called this a Chinese ASM but this series was sold to Iran over 20 years ago and has been reverse engineered into a family of Iranian crones. It was Iranian..alleged Iranian I was allegedly told.

Iran’s put a new series of upgraded guidance and terminal homing equipment in them making them harder to counter. Not enough of the missile in the Tweet for me to ID the series but as the Alleged Yemenis who allegedly fired the alleged 802 at the Mason failed to connect I’m not seeing Iran sending more obsolete early series Noors to the Houthi thru Hez. Seems things might be stepping up.

The Saudis don’t have the military capability but to me the US knows that if the Saudis move Iran will go to war with them and that will be a military and diplomatic disaster.

Iran will push the US, keeping the pressure up, but I see the Iranians trying to force the US to attack it without the Iranians having made a direct attack on the US. Attacking your enemy through cutouts has a long tradition of insulating actors from direct reprisal: Russia/China backing North Vietnam, US backing the Muj in Afghanistan, Russia/DDR using the PLO and others to attack Western interests. Will we cross that line?

Iran has a huge number of missiles of various types and it would make the Saudi oil fields a primary target, fighters and missiles would attack those fields, as Iran’s practiced for decades, creating pure havoc in the world oil market. That scares Europe and the US.
