And, after the Convention, sort of a Hubert Humphrey redo. No other Candidate can even TRY to pull off a pivot to center, after the primaries.

          Dems ALWAYS pivot to center, after the primary. Joes job will be to TRY to sell;

“C’mon man! Forget all that foolishness during the primaries! This is STILL your Dads Democrat party!”

It won’t work, but thats the plan,…

At the bottom is a chasm. The bridge is out.
And they are shoveling more coal in the firebox as we speak.

The outcome is certain, at this point there is NOTHING that can alter the inevitable outcome.
IMHO the destruction will be nearly absolute, not just for 2020, but going forward there will be no rebuilding.

That IS logical, and grounded in reality. However, I challenge you to point to ANY action of the Dem party leadership, in thd last 2 1/2 years, which we can critically examine, with the benefit of hindsight, as evidence the Dem party leadership being grounded in reality, or acting in a logical manner.
EVERY plan they have tried, has blown up in their face. And, its been foreseeable. Their have been offramps they COULD have taken, but they blew past them.

Their desperation is palpable, and destruction inevitable, as they scream “Damn the torpedos, full speed ahead!”

I have no confidence that any of them have even the most tentative contact with reality.

Either, as we go forward in the election cycle, a gradual realisation and acceptance of reality will occur, or the shock on election nite 2020 is going to be even greater than 2016.

And, the insanity post election, even greater.

“China signals intervention as Hong Kong’s protests intensify”

“HONG KONG (BLOOMBERG) – China sent the strongest warning yet of using troops on Hong Kong’s streets, where Beijing says protests have turned into a “Colour Revolution”, with water cannons and tear gas fired in skirmishes between police and demonstrators in the 12th straight weekend of unrest.

“It’s not only the China central government’s authority but also its responsibility to intervene when riots take place in Hong Kong,” the state-run Xinhua News Agency said on Sunday (Aug 25) in a commentary, recalling comments by former top leader Deng Xiaoping that Beijing has to act under such circumstances.”

You want to get people talking and the media covering the indictments of powerful politicians? Epstiens rapy island is were you start. Where’s the evidence of what happened on the island? If Bill Clinton and others were having sex with minors, every mother and father, Democrat or Republican, would be a AWAKENED to just how corrupt and evil some in government have become.
You would see people literally shaken to the core that their favorite politician or Prince ( like in Andrew) or Governor ( like in Richardson ) or TV talking head ( like in Dershwitz) are guilty of the worst crimes possible. There’s a reason why child rapists don’t last long in prison and that same reason is what would shake America to the core if evidence exists!
The coup would be secondary but come into play very quickly because if they are capable of raping children they are capable of committing a coup. Where’s the Wiener laptop and where’s the evidence from the Epstien residences? The release of that info is where you start the long march to justice, IMHO.

    Observations from a smaller limb.

Having wondered whether the current incantation of the Federal Reserve open market committee was stupid, ignorant or corrupt I have finally decided they get the trifecta.

    Stupid:
2 years of warning about inflation that wasn’t there based on a study when the primary concern of shoppers was not stepping in horseshit. The primary mode of transportation was foot is just plan stupid. I wish someone could put together a tape of every time someone from the Fed warned about the coming inflation that hasn’t arrived.

    Ignorant:
Apparently no one at the Fed has ever actually done or read a study on the effects of tariffs. Pre-Keynesian or pre-sellout American workers to the rest of the world. Shear unadulterated ignorance and pretty damn lazy intellectually.

    Corrupt:
After doing their best to derail the maganomics train raising rates to quickly and major quantitative tightening. Their plans to keep American growth from happening to get rid of PDJT proves they are ineffectual when faced with someone who actually understands how stuff works.

If I could ask a single question to the Fed chairman when testifying before a congressional committee it would simply be “ Who do you work for, who do you serve”? I’d place a bet against longs odds he doesn’t get it right.

I have posted before hand that the coming pressure from the globalist to reduce rates would arrive and it did, they dropped rates. It has and will continue to build for another rate reduction. Well since it is the globalist instead of PDJT asking for the American people we may see additional reductions.

    Harker: Philadelphia: August 22
No need for further rate cut.

    George: Kansas City: August 22
    Rate cut was not needed.

The Fed is holding a symposium at Jackson Hole. They invited Mark Carney former Bank of England governor to speak. His idea is a new virtual currency because the problem is the U.S. dollar dominance. Olli Rehn member of ECB’s governing council agrees it an idea worth considering.

Stanley Fischer former fed vice chairman responded to Carney by saying PDJT is a bigger threat.

    https://www.bnnbloomberg.ca/carney-s-libra-idea-shows-how-the-dollar-is-everyone-s-problem-1.1306675

    O.K. So I’m repeating myself:
    Stupid, ignorant and corrupt. Trifecta.

No restraints on spending is a major part of the issue. Too many don’t save, maxed out credit cards. Buying is an obsession. Where are the classes to teach personal money management? The same with younger people in the military, always broke. They have to eat off Post instead of the mess hall…which is good food. However, the Army is now starting to teach this basic personal responsibility.
Until the public schools get rid of the internal communist administrators and unions the schools will continue turning out the kids that have no discipline, no idea of responsibility and expect somebody else to take care of them. All part of the plan.

        Everything you said is accurate.

I would add to it that schools are OUTRAGEOUSLY overpriced. And the garbage they are “teaching”is utterly useless except for the professors who get grants to “study” and teach said garbage.

When my son was in college one of the classes that could be chosen to fulfill requirements was something about Winny the Pooh. I kid you not. And that was only ONE ridiculous option. That’s only an ice cube off of an iceberg. I went to the same school. It was nowhere near as ridiculously priced then as it is now. It has so outpaced inflation that it’s laughable. They teach little that is useful in life. The complaints that college is merely indoctrination for liberals is genuinely true. Staggers the imagination.

One can easily, EASILY, in Kentucky, stay on campus and incur debt well in excess of $80,000 for a four year degree…………….to get a $30-35,000 per year job. Or less. Colleges are pricing themselves at a point that they are a net negative on future earnings in a lot of instances. And the kids are not really learning much of anything. It’s genuinely sad.

A well known problem that “seniors” took on way too much in Parent Plus loan debt. Parent Plus loans have higher interest rates, and much more strict rules on making sure they get paid. They were are/were supposed to be the cash cow that funded Obamacare and the rest of the student loans. Obamacare and the change in student loans only originated by the federal government were tied together in legislation.

I only see good consequences in breaking China’s government totally. Their people would be free of Communist evil, their vassal states in Africa and South and Central America would be out from under the yoke of Communist influence for the foreseeable future. Destroying Communism is a good thing. The world can come together and ensure that the PEOPLE of China do not starve and have a soft landing. Their government can go to Hell.

G S the right thing is to totally bankrupt these lying, cheating, thieving, communist pukes, NOW, so we don’t have to have a real war in the future. I want no deal and them so broke that they can’t buy off our politicians anymore, and they can’t afford their military. The most serious consequences to the whole world would be to not break them and let them continue on their path to world hegemony. For example, right now the pukes are ready to invade a defenseless Hong Kong to break them, because they can.

I always wished we had nuked the red army when they invaded Korea in the fifties. Might have saved my uncle’s life…

Our fearless POTUS is doing the right thing just as Reagan did with the USSR. I wish he had more help.

I just read John McCain’s widow, Cindy McCain, is calling for civility in public discourse. I almost choked to think of how petty this woman was to exclude Sarah Palin from John McCain’s funeral. I thought of the abusive way President Trump was derided at the funeral. That funeral was a disgusting seminar in how to turn a funeral into a low-class, snarky spectacle.. Cindy McCain is the LAST person who should be lecturing Americans on civility.

‘Civility’ means to agree with and totally support the Globalist agenda or just shut up. Oh, and it’s always civil to discuss Orange Man Bad.

That’s not the definition I learned years ago, but that’s how Cindy McCain is defining civility.

BTW, is there any truth to the rumor that the ground over her hubby’s grave is turning into a swamp? Too much moisture from *ahem* some source or other. If it’s not from tears, it’s something else, then.

John McCain, himself, was not very civil in private (campaign speeches, news interviews) when talking to staff, private citizens in public, etc. There are all kinds of reports of his potty mouth, temper, and and harsh treatment of people . He trash talked Ted Cruz and the Tea Party movement, lied to constituents for political gain (repeal Obamacare then thumbs down, etc), and had a role in Spygate. No thanks to his type of civility.

Oh, my, Cindy! Like when your own husband basically told you to shut up in a live interview and specifically referenced you by calling you the ‘c’ word . . .?

There is another possible explanation that does not involve the US press perception.

We are talking about the #2 guy in China, who might stand to gain if Xi loses face and falls on this trade war. So he just got pinned as the fall guy if it fails. That puts his interests’ and Xi’s aligned.

Their internal politics and how they navigate this to a reasonable internal political solution is pretty important.
