Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

    That Blessed Hope

    For believers in Christ it would be the most blessed of all if this year turns out to be the year of our Lord’s coming for His own. How long the present dispensation of grace will be prolonged we do not, and cannot, know. Even St. Paul, who was commissioned to make known the glorious truth of the rapture of the Church, did not know. He never dreamed that God would linger in mercy for more than 1900 years, for in I Thes. 4:16-18 he says:

    “We who are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord, shall be caught up…”

    Thus instructed Bible-believers in every generation since his day have rightly been on the alert for their Lord to come for them, for they know that “the days are evil” and every hour is an hour of grace.

    To the Philippians the Apostle wrote: “We look for the Savior,” to the Thessalonians: “[Ye]… wait for His [God’s] Son from heaven,” and to Titus he says that we should be “looking for that blessed hope, and the appearing in glory of …our Savior, Jesus Christ” (Phil. 3:20; I Thes. 1:9,10; Tit. 2:11-13).

    With the Lord’s coming and the close of “the dispensation of the grace of God” so much nearer than it was in Paul’s day, we say to the unsaved: “Receive not the grace of God in vain…. Behold, now is the accepted time; behold nowis the day of salvation” (II Cor. 6: 1,2).

    And to the saved we say: “Buy up the time,” take advantage of every opportunity to win the lost to Christ, for “the days are evil” (Eph. 5:16) and the day of grace may soon be brought to a close.

    By Pastor Cornelius R. Stam

    1 Thessalonians 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
    17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
    18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

    Philippians 3:20 For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:

    1 Thessalonians 1:9 For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God;
    10 And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.

    Titus 2:11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
    12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
    13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

    2 Corinthians 6:1 We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain.
    2 (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)

    Ephesians 5:16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

      From J.H. in Erie, PA, who sends me these daily. He added this:

      Study to shew thyself approved UNTO God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth (II tim 2:15)
      But i certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. For i neither received of man nor was i taught it, but by revelation of Jesus Christ. (Gal 1:11,12)
      How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery:(as i wrote afore in few words, wherby when ye read, ye may UNDERSTAND my knowledge in the mystery of Christ) Which in other ages WAS NOT made known unto the sons of men, as it is NOW revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit; And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: (Eph 3:3-5,9)
      But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: Which non of the princes of this world knew: for HAD they known it, they would NOT have crucified the Lord of glory. (I cor 2:7,8)
      seperate Pauls gospel of the mystery from Peters and the prophetic program revealed SINCE the beginning (Heb 1:1-2) (all scripture not written by paul)

    This incredible musical face-off on the New York City subway may have taken place several years ago, but it has since gone down in internet history as a jazz performance for the ages.

    Back in 2013, several subway passengers captured video footage of two musicians having what is supposedly an impromptu saxophone battle on one of the train cars.

    At the start of the video, one of the saxophonists can be seen playing some tunes for a few attentive passengers—but he is eventually joined by a second saxophonist from the other end of the car.

    The two men then face off in the middle of the train and begin covering everything from Michael Jackson’s “Billy Jean” to “Chameleon” by Herbie Hancock—and as the tunes get jazzier and jazzier, the passengers quickly become more and more enthused.

    It’s quite possible that the performance had staged, rather than improvised—but that doesn’t mean that their duets are any less impressive.

    The ability to think rationally.
    From the ‘sacred scriptures’: the apparent motion of the sun (Sun rises and sets) is a semblance of truth. The immobility of the sun is a genuine truth, we may talk in terms of the semblance, and we do so, but thinking that way with conviction weakens and blinds our ability to think through rationally.

    What I noticed is the inconsistency of rational in our understanding when I began to study Gods word. And I see and hear it all day and everyday, it’s not by accident. It is attributing evil to God and just as pointed out, ‘it weakens and blinds you’. How many more are we missing?
    The power of God is real and attainable and is in Gods word available to us all through understanding.

    “When thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and…pray to thy Father which is in secret.” Matthew vi. 6

    Jesus did not say – Dream about thy Father in secret, but pray to thy Father in secret. Prayer is an effort of will. After we have entered our secret place and have shut the door, the most difficult thing to do is pray; we cannot get our minds into working order, and the first thing that conflicts is wandering thoughts. The great battle in private prayer is the overcoming of mental woolgathering. We have to discipline our minds and concentrate on willful prayer.

    We must have a selected place for prayer and when we get there the plague of flies begins – This must be done, and that. “Shut thy door.” A secret silence means to shut the door deliberately on emotions and remember God. God is in secret, and He sees us from the secret place; He does not see us as other people see us, or as we see ourselves. When we live in the secret place it becomes impossible for us to doubt God, we become more sure of Him than of anything else. Your Father, Jesus says, is in secret and nowhere else. Enter the secret place, and right in the center of the common round you find God there all the time. Get into the habit of dealing with God about everything. Unless in the first waking moment of the day you learn to fling the door wide back and let God in, you will work on a wrong level all day; but swing the door wide open and pray to your Father in secret, and every public thing will be stamped with the presence of God.

      stevie, when I first read this entry from Oswald, many, many years ago, it was as if a load had been lifted off of my heart.
      His picture, “…the plague of flies begins…”, his stating the reality of “woolgathering”as a common problem, was Such a Relief to me!
      I don’t think it had ever occurred to me that I was not alone in my troubles with concentration…and here, the great Chambers was acknowledging what must be fought off
      by closing that closet door.
      This clarity was of enormous help to me…our adversary is ever-active, and with the help of the Lord, we may overcome Satan’s intentional interference, and our fallen nature.
      Thanks for continuing to post Chambers’ little meditations.

          stevie…I have found Chambers’ little daily offerings to be quite arresting, and worthy of extended contemplation and meditation.
          I think its worth noting he gave these little devotions to soldiers, and was somewhat constrained, time-wise, thereby writing these comments in very condensed form.
          And we benefit from his efforts.
          You do know his wife recorded his work in shorthand, no? and bc of her efforts, we have his reflections verbatim.

    David Koch, one of the “Koch Brothers”, who did NOT support Donald Trump for president in 2106, and who was against President Trump’s policies for immigration and trade, is DEAD. Regardless of any conservative beliefs that Koch may had had, the SOB was for open borders and letting countries like China stick it to us. No Thanks!. I’m sick and tired of people of wealth who have been harming middle class America for decades. I’m certainly not jealous of their wealth, only the way they use and abuse any influence it provides them. President Trump is wealthy, but he’s one of the few who realized just how much the bad trade and immigration polices from previous administrations were harming this country and especially its people.

    The Koch Brothers, who bought power and political influence over the years with their money, are the poster children for what happens when the U.S. Supreme Court makes a bad ruling, such as the 2010 Citizens United decision, which allows people like the Kochs to buy even more political influence.

    One down, and a whole lot more to go.

    Found this today: (An excellent study regarding Women in Ministry consisting of 7 different articles)

    FTA: The impact of the church upon the world comes about when men and women walk in the character and in the conduct that God has prescribed for them.

    FTA: Prayer:
    Thank you, our Father, for the great practicality of Scripture, for the insights it gives us into the nature of our lives. Give us obedient hearts that quickly and readily respond to what You say, hearts that do not argue, fight, and resist, but know that Your great loving heart has chosen for us, both men and women, unique contributions which the other sex cannot make but which are necessary to life and its fulfillment. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
