Thursday August 22nd – Open Thread

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

One of our favorites, Czarina and I have had that one posted on our fridge for decades. Used to have one with two fussy cats discussing the breakfast their slave-person fed them: “Where does he buy this stuff, the Grand Bazaar of Istanbul?” but it disintegrated with time.

Somewhat apropos one of our cats brought us an anniversary present last night – a fat and furry field mouse. She carried it in shocked but unharmed and laid it at our feet. I could have sworn she said ‘happy anniversary’ but the look on her face when the mouse recovered and we didn’t chase it was priceless. She didn’t move, she let the 22 pound cat sort of follow it, and then ignored us for having dissed her gift. It’s still running around.

Update on the mouse: it reappeared tonite, scooted across the kitchen to a spot behind the freezer and refrigerator. I moved both out from the L-shaped niche they’re in, allowing a free view of and access to the mouse cowering in the corner. I picked up the Russia Blue, took her over and pointed her at the mouse. She took one look…walked away in total disinterest. Took the large orange Fat Thing, chased the mouse out from behind the freezer and down the back hall by using a broom – he walked off and out of the kitchen, he’s union and it’s after hours. Finally just chased it out of the back hall into the garage.

    Gladly The Cross I’d Bear

The above title is based on an old Christian joke that tells of a hymn by this name that was misunderstood by a child to refer to a cross-eyed bear named Gladly! It is not known if there ever was such a hymn, but the idea for the title surely comes from the words of the Lord Jesus Christ:

“And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after Me, is not worthy of Me. He that findeth his life shall lose it; and he that loseth his life for My sake shall find it” (Matt. 10:38,39).

It is commonly taught from these words that “everyone has his cross in life to bear,” that we all face different challenges in life, and if we bear them well we will go to heaven. That this cannot be our Lord’s intent can be seen from Mark 10:21, where the Lord told the rich young ruler:

“…take up THE cross, and follow Me.”

Here we see the Lord was not speaking of each man having his own personal burden in life to bear that was distinct from that of others, but rather that He had one cross in mind that each man had to shoulder, and in so doing make it his own. By examining the context of each time the Lord spoke about bearing a cross, we can learn about the particular cross He had in mind.

Often when the Lord spoke about bearing a cross (Matt. 16:24; Mark 8:34 ; Luke 9:23), it was in the context of His own death on the Cross (Matt. 16:21; Mark 8:31; Luke 9:22). Thus the “cross” that the kingdom saint was asked to bear was a willingness to give his life for the Lord, just as the Lord had given His life for them. This willingness to die for the Lord is also mentioned in the context of bearing the cross (Matt. 10:38,39; 16:25; Mark 8:35; Luke 9:24).

But while many kingdom saints gave their lives for the cause of Christ, as will many more in the coming Tribulation, certainly not all Hebrew believers were called upon to bear the cross of martyrdom. However, the context of many of these “bear his cross” verses indicates that there was yet another way that kingdom saints could give their life for the Lord. It is significant that several times after speaking of bearing the cross, the Lord said:

“For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul” (Matt. 16:26 cf. Mark 8:36; Luke 9:25).

Since the Kingdom gospel included the command to sell “all” of one’s belongings (Luke 12:33 ; 18:22), it appears that the “cross” the Lord asked all kingdom saints to bear was the selling of all their material possessions.

And so, in summary, the “cross” the Lord asked the Hebrews to bear was the giving of their lives for Him, some as living sacrifices and some as dying sacrifices, just as He had given His life for them.

    By Pastor Ricky Kurth

Matthew 10:38 And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.
39 He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

Mark 10:21 Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.

Matthew 16:24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

Luke 9:23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
24 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.

Matthew 16:21 From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.

Mark 8:31 And he began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders, and of the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.

Luke 9:22 Saying, The Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be slain, and be raised the third day.

Mark 8:35 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it.

Matthew 16:26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

Mark 8:36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

Luke 9:25 For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away?

Luke 12:33 Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth.

Luke 18:22 Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.

“Since the Kingdom gospel included the command to sell “all” of one’s belongings (Luke 12:33 ; 18:22), it appears that the “cross” the Lord asked all kingdom saints to bear was the selling of all their material possessions.”

Considering additional Scriptural context, how does Acts 5:4 (post-Pentecost but pre-Paul and the stoning of Stephen) factor in as far as the selling of all material possessions, including land that was sold? “Remaining, did not it remain yours? And having been sold, was it not in the own authority? Why did you purpose this deed in your heart? You have not lied to men, but to God!””

Given the context, was there truly a “Kingdom gospel” command of universal applicability regarding all “kingdom saints” to divest of all their material possessions? Also, given what would constitute a universal “kingdom saint” command under the same rationale, were “kingdom saints” lopping off their hands and feet and gouging out their eyes wholesale per commands in Matthew 5, Matthew 18, and Mark 9? If not, could it be that points were being made that might not equate to universal literal commandments but serve another purpose?

When the rich young ruler asked Jesus what good thing he could do to obtain eternal
life, Jesus answered: “if you will enter into life, keep the commandments” (Matthew 19:17b). When asked which ones, Jesus listed several of the Ten Commandments. After the man said he kept the commandments from his youth, why did Jesus say anything further to him? Didn’t that settle the matter?

The Lord’s reaction was clear: “Jesus looked and him and loved him (Mark 10:21a)”. Had the rich young ruler thereby been justified, especially with his clear regard for the commandments? Or, could it be that even with someone following the written code, the man’s justification was not a settled matter?

Jesus continued (Mark 10:21b-22): “One thing you lack,” he said. “Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” Jesus asked the man — who had asked what must “I” do — for something beyond the letter of the written code. Instead, the man went away, showing that those who adjudge themselves to be walking according to the written code may or may not be truly walking with Jesus.

This is in contrast to the Caananite woman whose plea for help was answered by Jesus with the Scriptural truth that He was sent to the lost sheep of Israel. Citing her faith in answering her plea when she persisted, Jesus allowed a greater point about faith to be made just as He did about the limitations of outward observance of the Ten Commandments and the Mosaic Law. It must be considered that what was asked of the rich young ruler pertained to his individual situation and stumbling block, especially given Christ’s observation that “with difficulty a rich man will enter into the kingdom of the heavens” (cf. Matthew 19:23).

Our “friends” at Fox News are at it again. Their crawler is alerting us that American Jewish organizations (i.e. liberal Jewish organizations) are accusing PDJT of using an anti-Semitic trope (oh my!). The word trope is the lefts current favorite word, so they’ll use it alot until it loses its zing. No mention of how other Jewish groups support PDJT and that Israel loves him. That doesn’t fit the trope narrative.

This amazes me. Trump was raked over the coals many times by the Palm Beach WASPs for daring to have Jewish guests at his resort and allowing Jews (and Blacks) to play at and ne full members of his golf course. And that’s in RECENT times, not 20 years ago.

I worked for the Helmsleys in the early 70s just as they bought the Towers hotel in Palm Beach. Prior to that a Jew played hell trying to get a room in Palm Beach, it was almost impossible, and playing on a Palm Beach golf course or belonging to a Palm Beach country club was impossible. The 9 kinds of hell the Helmsleys received for buying the Towers and filling it with rich Northeast Jews was historic and a lot of it came from a particularly noted Catholic political family residing there, a family that had received more than its share of heat when it moved to WASP Palm Beach. The Palm Beach anti-Semitism sort of went back underground, after the Helmsleys lost it, until Trump bought Mar-a-Lago then resurfaced in a quieter, slicker mode.

Then again, most of the MSM that sets the Jewish narrative is and has been headquartered in the I-95 corridor from DC to NYC. Figure how many of these media moguls are WASPs who live in WASP enclaves from Long Island to Palm Beach and even LA and we can get an idea of why the liberal, anti-Trump Jewish narrative is to the fore.

There have always been groups of Jewish capo groups who’ve advocated for anti-Semites. Polls show that many Jews have become Jews with a small ‘J’, they think of being Jewish as a cultural identity, like being a ‘New Yorker’, rather than a religion. There are polls that show a majority of those self-identifying as Jews do not even believe in a God such as the Society for Humanistic Judaism.

For a multitude of reasons American Judaism identifies with the Left/liberalism, the events of their recent and historic past aside. Meir Kahane was about the last prominent Jewish conservative to recognize the reality of the threat to Jews in America. He was assassinated by El Sayyid Nosair, an Egyptian-American, after a speech to a group of Orthodox Jews. Nosair was a member of the same Mosque in Jersey City that was involved in the first bombing of the World Trade Center.

Bill Kunstler defended Nosair and got him off on charges of murdering Kahane even though when Kunstler first saw the evidence he tried to get Nosair to plead insanity. You’d think that such a prominent figure as Kahane was the New York Jewish world would be clammering for Nosair’s conviction but even the double irony of a major Jewish figure pointing out the threat, especially the Islamic threat, being assassinated by radical Islamist and defended/gotten off by a Jewish lawyer doesn’t seem to hit them.

This may be an active case of social Darwinism in the making. As the liberal American Jews are eaten by the jackals they so ably defend perhaps the remaining conservative ones can reset the narrative.

Descansos; Roadside Memorials in New Mexico
Excerpt FTA: Descansos do not necessarily mark the place where the person died. Rather, it may indicate that an accident occurred at or near the site, but the person may have died elsewhere, such as in the hospital.
Nor, for that matter, do Descansos necessarily indicate a car crash or vehicle death. One was recently erected near Silver City, for example, for a woman who was stabbed to death at that location. Others—such as a large concrete structure between Albuquerque and Los Lunas—are in place for highway workers who were hit by a motorist.
Throughout the year, many Descansos are tended to by friends or family members of the deceased. This might be to clear weeds or debris at the site, or even to add a new coat of paint.
Some memorials are also decorated and spruced up for the holidays, with hearts for Valentine’s Day, rabbits or baskets for Easter, trees or ribbons for Christmas, or birthday balloons.

The Slavery issue works like this: there is no way to go back in time, so it can always be hung over the heads of conservatives.

I recognize that there has been, and still is, racism. But Progs don’t want to discuss real-world solutions; they, being Marxists, want to end our prevailing Judeo-Christian, capitalist, Nukelar-Family based society. It is not about fixing or fine tuning. It is about revolution.

If they picked up genuine issues, like addressing the policing issue, honestly addressing home lending and business lending, etc., problems could be addressed. This is not what Progs want. Progs want to overthrow our prevailing society.

We have slavery now. Especially in relation to the open border. Are Progs all over that issue? Where we really could do something? No.

They tried to shape Trump as Playboy/Cad/Womanizer, which is not that difficult, then to add “rapist” and “sexist” to that. They are trying to tie issues together. Border security is getting tied to racism, and they are adding an apparent approval-of-slavery to racism.

This is quite a stretch. We will see how it works.

i have not yet seen Trump turn this on the Progs, as he has turned other issues on them.

Possibly: create a major initiative to bring Human Trafficking and Sex Trafficking high up on the agenda, and to fight this. Then, get the various Progs to either declare their support, or acknowledge that they are avoiding genuine progress on the slavery issue, and just using it for political points. Hey, and even using this “slavery” issue as a tokenism issue to string along their African American supporters, while not really doing helpful things for that community, such as jobs.

“I indeed baptize you with water…but He…shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and fire.” Matthew iii. 11

Have I ever come to a place in my experience where I can say – I indeed – but He”? Until that moment does come, I will never know what the baptism of the Holy Ghost means. I indeed am at an end, I cannot do a thing: but He begins just there – He does the things no one else can ever do. Am I prepared for His coming? Jesus cannot come as long as there is anything in the way either of goodness or badness. When He comes am I prepared for Him to drag into the light every wrong thing I have done? It is just there that He comes. Wherever I know I am unclean, He will put His feet; wherever I think I am clean, He will withdraw them.

Repentance does not bring a sense of sin, but a sense of unutterable unworthiness. When I repent, I realize that I am utterly helpless; I know all through me that I am not worthy even to bear His shoes. Have I repented like that? Or is there a lingering suggestion of standing up for myself? The reason God cannot come into my life is because I am not through into repentance.

“He shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and fire.” John does not speak of the baptism of the Holy Ghost as an experience, but as a work performed by Jesus Christ. “He shall baptize you.” The only conscious experience those who are baptized with the Holy Ghost ever have is a sense of absolute unworthiness.

I indeed was this and that; but He came, and a marvelous thing happened. Get to the margin where He does everything.

Please note that there are two Spirit baptisms in scripture. The one spoken of here, belonging to Israel’s Kingdom, is Christ baptizing with the Spirit. Since the Kingdom program has been placed on hold temporarily (for ~2000 years now), the other Spirit baptism (1Cor. 12:13) is the Spirit baptizing into Christ (Gal. 3:27) to form the church, “which is his body” (Eph. 1:23)

1Corinthians 12:12 ¶ For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.
13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
14 For the body is not one member, but many.

Galatians 3:27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

Ephesians 1:22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,
23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.

I wanted to share this from the ‘sacred scriptures’ #94

There are many passages in the word where the lord is described as wrathful raging, vengeful and is said to punish, cast into hell, tempt, and the like. People who believe this in simplicity and therefore fear God and tak care not to sin against him are not condemned because of there simplistic faith. However if people convince themselves that these descriptions are true actually to the point of believing that wrath, rage, vengefulness, and the like which are evil, are real characteristics of the lord and that he does punishus and does cast us into hell out of wrath, rage, and vengefulness, they are condemned because thy have destroyed the real truth, which is the lord is love itself, and goodness itself, and mercy itself, anyone who is these qualities is incapable of wrath, rage, and vengefulness. Attributing the other qualities to the lord is based on the way things seem. The same principal applies in many cases.

      • TreeClimber says:

The DuckDuckGo privacy extension lists the trackers it’s blocking. I know a lot of privacy extensions do, but having only ever borrowed Safari I really couldn’t tell you how to find it in that particular browser.

I use Duck Duck Go and am always looking for other good search engines.

    Search engine?

Not sure I spelled that correctly.

Anyone have a link to the search engine spoken of on this video (about .11 marker)?

    In other news:

New govt rules on who can access Title X funds have gone into effect. New rules basically cut out abortion providers. Planned Parenthood has opted to NOT give up on abortion. They have opted to not move the abortion business away enough to meet the new rules. They lose out on 60 million per year.

Why? Two reasons. First, by having abortion access be a big issue, they draw far more attention than they would, otherwise. This Heritage Found article notes this.

Second: without abortion, PP has no “stock in trade.” They have no business core. Besides abortion, the services they deliver are VERY modest, in terms of clinical difficulty. For licensed prescribers, figuring out if someone has contra-indications to any of the current forms of birth control is not difficult. It is not difficult to diagnose or treat STDs. It is not challenging to give the HPV shot. The Health Education they do is quite rote.

Clinically, they can easily be replaced. Practically overnight. FQHCs and corner Ready-Clinics and other numerous and easily accessible health care provider settings can pick up all of this care with hardly breaking a sweat. And, they are already doing this. And, also doing a more complete range of health care.

PP exists because abortion advocates have built the abortion issue into Progressive Politics, using it as a big issue to appeal to a great portion of the potential Prog voters and donors. A decade ago, abortion was an “also-ran” of an issue; a side issue. By various efforts of me and many many others, it has been pushed up in prominence. Now, like opposition to Israel and like opposition to capitalism, it has grown to be both a blessing and a curse for Progs. The Progs would have much rather had Global Warming be third or fourth in the batting order. But, alas, Global Warming is batting 9th, and PP is at the top of the batting order.

Progs don’t really have ANY agenda for you, other than to get control over your life one way or another. Abortion advocates have filled the vacuum. The Progs accepted this, and are now all-in, are wedded. Activism on both sides has driven this issue to be very prominent, for better or for worse.

PP has managed to get nearly all abortion activism channeled through PP. NARAL, etc., are also-rans, are klingons. If abortion legally gets seriously curtailed in the near future, PP will be out of business, since other health care provider sources will take over their client base. PP will have little money. The remaining abortion advocate forces are not strong enough to keep the abortion access card as a powerful card in the hand of the Progs.

Progs will not give up on abortion. Years back, I would say that (D) should steal the pro-life issue away from conservatives. Claim the high ground of watching out for The Little Guy, and be science-based, noting life begins at conception. That may have been remotely possible 10 years ago. Not now. (D) has gone too Red. Soon after Russian Revolution, like 2 years in, abortions jumped from modest amount to millions per year, with no looking back. 100 years later, abortion is a strong fixture in Russia and most former-Soviet-Bloc countries.

Besides an explanation involving Satan, I have no explanation for how abortion is so tied in to Marxism.

With this Title X change, we can now see how tied to abortion the Progs are.

You got to see this 15 seconds video of the warrior from the anti terror unit of the Israeli Police Force called Yamam. They are the first to arrive to terror incidents in Jerusalem and other places. Some arrive on motorcycles and some with vehicles. Notice the guy also loads his gun before he starts. A short translation at the end
    “what a man!”. Enjoy!

It is good to see this in USA Today, which up to now could be counted on to parrot faithfully the establishment media line on everything. But the SPLC’s stranglehold on the establishment media is weakening: first the Washington Post, and now this.

“Hasan Piker, a contributor to progressive socialist web show ‘The Young Turks’ and nephew of the show’s founder Cenk Uygur, said during a vulgar rant Tuesday night that America ‘deserved 9/11,’ and praised the ‘brave f-cking soldier’ who injured former Navy SEAL Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX).
‘America deserved 9/11, dude. F–k it I’m saying it,’ Piker said during an expletive-laced tirade he broadcast live on the internet.
Piker later doubled down on blaming America for the 9/11/01 Islamic terrorist attack that killed nearly 3,000 Americans” ~ From Breitbart today

Waiting to see if Goggle~Youtube bans this violent guy and his vile uncle from Youtube like they banned Alex Jones for his various harmless conspiracy theories? Yeah right, don’t hold your breath waiting. The Silicon Valley social media cult only focuses on silencing conservatives!

Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.

Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.

Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.

Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.

We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.

In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.

who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.
