Put Up, or Shut Up? Well, 137 House Democrats Voted Against Impeachment…

For the first official time since taking control over the House of Representatives, today the Democrats in the House had their first official opportunity to vote on a resolution to impeach President Donald J Trump.

This impeachment vote is what all of the most vocal political opponents have been asking for.  This impeachment vote is what CNN, MSNBC and MSM panelists have been advocating for since November 2018.  This is what every democrat presidential candidate has supported.  This was the put-up or shut-up moment the far-left has been diligently working toward.  Yes, it finally came; this was their moment.

So what happened:

137 Democrats and 194 Republicans voted the kill the resolution.

HERE’S The VOTE

Resist we much?

This doesn’t mean they’re done with this. They are still building the obstruction case — both of the Mueller investigation as well as obstruction of Congress. And they’re working on timing it where they believe they can exert the maximal damage on re-election, as well as potentially catching him at a weaker moment due to some other unforeseen negative event for him. They will never stop.

I am sick to death of this traitorous wench and the other crazy, traitorous wenches in the ‘Rat party. In a just world, they would all be tried for treason and sedition in a military court. Following the guilty verdict, they would have their citizenship revoked, their assets completely confiscated, and then be immediately deported to any place willing to accept them. I would be willing to pay Liberia or the Central African Republic a considerable sum to take them just to get them quickly and permanently out of the U.S.

We, as a nation, need to remember and start applying a lot of the practical, effective rules we used to use to keep the country safe. First on that list is the principle of “addition by subtraction.” The ‘Rats have made it clear they hate this country and are unashamedly the party of traitors and treason. There should be a high cost for taking that position. Having a few ‘Rats suffer the penalties mentioned above would undoubtedly have a salutary effect on the rest of them and might put the brakes on what now looks like an increasingly fast drift toward civil war.

Congress needs to start charging Al Green (TX-D) for his impeachment bills he constantly inserts into the daily workings. This is the “third time” beginning with when Trump came down the elevator. He and Maxine Waters have flooded the floor for over two years and never get any votes worthwhile other than perhaps the nefarious Sheila Jackson Lee.

I think the numbers show her control. The more politically astute Dems know that legally impeachment for “hurtful language” is a nonstarter. She and her group are looking for something more substantive, something they can use to tie up the senate, probably in November.

I think she could use a vote so her members could show their constituents what they think. Impeachment districts vote impeachment and others vote against. Then they can go home over the break and tell their people they tried.

The reason she didn’t want a vote is because she knew it would be just like this one. That pretty much takes impeachment off the table. There is no real support for it. She would have preferred to keep pretending there was an impeachment proceeding going on so she could use that claim to damage Trump in the election.

She lost her fake impeachment card.

The only thing we should learn from the left is they never, never give up. Win, lose or draw they continue down their chosen path. Look at globull warming as an example. It’s been debunked so many times the general populace ignores any calls for implementation of it’s job and country killing edicts. Has that stopped those in favor from routinely forwarding the message of impending doom if we don’t address it. No it hasn’t.

This my friends is how the left has come into power in all sections of society over the decades. They to not go back to a normal life and leave us alone like we are prone to do when we think we’ve won an argument. Until we have the same kind of commitment to defeat them we will not win the fight for the soul of our country.

The House just signaled (to the Senate)
it ALREADY has 95 votes to IMPEACH based on a ludicrous “racist comment” charge.

This is the number in the bank BEFORE MUELLER’S testimony.

The ludicrous nature of this resolution will have the effect of making “Mueller’s” charges in his testimony seem even more serious.

Devin Nunes has been all over FNC the past several days and maybe it’s just me but I’m sensing that he has become very worried about the effect of Mueller’s coached testimony.

            • I am quite sure that Grand Juries will indeed see those documents. But, I never expect them to be made available to the public until after trials have been concluded. If they were to be “tried in the Court of Public Opinion,” satisfying to all of us though this might be, they could escape justice on the grounds that an un-biased jury could not be convened. And/Or that the Grand Jury was biased. Many a mob boss walked free on such technicalities.

On the other hand, if the evidence presented to the Grand Jury is undeniably authentic, and has been shown to no one else contemporaneously, the indictment would hold water. The Jury subsequently trying the case could also examine the documents. They would form their opinion based on what they see, not what they hear or read in the papers.

Mike, what I mean about time expiring is experts say any trials that might come from this scandal would probably be after the 2020 election. And you still got impeachment on the table. So there is a time frame here that must be taken into account. If mueller goes in and stirs up the hornets nest it can not go unchallenged. I would hope that Nunes and others are on top of this, however he didn’t seem so confident to other nite.

      • Mueller did not perform the office of Special Counsel, and his work product does not conform to the legal specifications required of such work. As we see from being able to examine the [redacted] document ourselves, it’s so much quasi-legalistic mumbo jumbo. It makes almost a dozen accusations using, as William Barr curtly put it, “not the standards we use in the Department [of Justice].”

I submit that we have been nationally defrauded by these lawyers, and that we should be entitled to a full refund of their legal fees.

What a worthwhile use of your tax money.

When I was a teenager in the 90’s, democrats back then were all about “burning down the system.” They said stuff like that thinking it would appeal to young people back then. And it did appeal to some of them. But the ones calling for destruction never had any clear ideas on what to replace our “system” with. They just wanted to kill our society and feast on its remains like simple parasites. As the years have rolled by, the parasites calling for destruction have clarified their position. Now they say they hate America because it was built by white men and represents “white supremacy.” Basically, they don’t consider themselves American at all. They just live here, and would like very much to burn down what we all have – white or not – and plunder the remains.

So that’s what the democrat party is to me. They’ve always been the party of parasites, bottom feeders, and destruction. To hell with them all. I’m glad to see them finally drawing up to their full height and proudly owning their ugly communist hatred. The 2020 election cycle will be a bolt through their party’s heart.

  16. There’s a certain group of canny lawyers – they call their company “Lawfare” – who are certainly making a ton of money off the Democrats right now by telling them exactly what they want to hear. The Democrats’ problem is that, (a) “collusion” isn’t a crime, and (b) when the “obstruction” statutes are applied as the Federal Courts actually apply them, there’s no obstruction, either. So, the “Lawfare” people literally want to cherry-pick the last half of a single sentence in the United States Code to mean that “obstruction” can be anything you want it to be … including saying that the target might object to a proceeding that doesn’t exist. William Barr wrote a lengthy paper about that as a private citizen. But the Democrats don’t care. Her Majesty ordered them to get rid of her political opponent, and they will Obey.

Nancy will only push impeachment if she thinks there is a way to secure a conviction in the senate. If she impeaches and the senate acquits, VSGPDJT will rightfully say he’s been exonerated.

Question for lawyer types: If VSGPDJT is acquitted of the articles of impeachment, could he be tried for the same offenses once he leaves office? (Or would that be double jeopardy).

Impeachment is a POLITICAL process and in fact the Constitution says this:

      Article 1, Section 3

7: Judgment in Cases of impeachment shall not extend further than to removal from Office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any Office of honor, Trust or Profit under the United States: but the Party convicted shall nevertheless be liable and subject to Indictment, Trial, Judgment and Punishment, according to Law.

      • The latter part of that article expresses their sentiments and intent very clearly. We know that they struck the word, “maladministration,” which had been (ab)used in English law, and replaced it with “high crimes and misdemeanors.” It is clear from this sentence that they expected the accused to then be in trouble with the law, and that impeachment would [only …] occur because of this. The Constitution does not grant law-enforcement powers to the Congress, and stipulates that they may not “adopt” powers not granted.

The “Lawfare” legal theories have been dismissed by William Barr, first as a private citizen and then as AG. The Congress cannot appoint itself to be a courtroom, and in that [kangaroo …] courtroom apply legal interpretations that are not used by Federal Courts. That would be pure-politics, masquerading as law enforcement of an idea masquerading as law – which is not the law.

When the Department of Justice, after exhaustive examination and vast costs, gathered evidence and applied the rules of law to that evidence and found “No Collusion, No Obstruction,” I think that Congress must be bound by that legal determination, as the Courts themselves would be. It is untenable to throw a person out of public office for “high crimes and misdemeanors” when, as a now-private citizen, he would face no charges.

          Great info.
With SOLE power of impeachment granted to House and Senate the definition of “high crimes and misdemeanors” can be interpreted plainly:
Whatever a majority of the House says that 2/3 of the Senate agree.
The debate over and later rejection of the crime of “maladministration” and future indictment after impeachment clearly show the Founders wanted the bar for impeachment set very high:
          actual prosecutable LEGAL crimes.

Hopefully the 116th Congress sees it the same way.

Wanna see something funny? Check Out CNN’s article on this where they list the individual Dem members who voted against impeachment. They rightly state that 137 Democrats as voting against it. Now indulge me for a moment. Count the names and see how many you come up with. Go ahead, I’ll wait.

    https://www.cnn.com/2019/07/17/politics/democrats-voted-against-trump-impeachment-resolution/index.html

No, you didn’t miscount. There’s only a 136 on there, not 137. They intentionally left Pelosi off the list. The article states it was the most “direct challenge to the way she’s handled impeachment”…and then proceeds to leave her off the list.

CNN is now revealed as little more than the Propaganda Wing of the Democrat party. For all time they spend revving the far left of the base up in the hopes that they’ll come out and vote, they know darned well what Pelosi has known all along: Voting for impeachment under these circumstances is political party suicide.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t doubt for a second that if the public had a desire for impeachment she’d be right there leading the way. That’s why, as Sundance pointed out many times, Pelosi changed the committee rules, so that if the polling was in their favor they could pull the trigger on impeachment. So they go to plan B, where they talk about it a lot to keep the base engaged but never actually do anything.

She’s following the John Boehner blue print from 2010-2012 because she finds herself in the same position: The party campaigned on doing something it had no intention of doing (for Boehner it was repealing Obamacare, for Pelosi its impeachment) and now the base and the newly elected actually expect you to keep a promise you never had any intention to keep. So now you have to find a way to keep the base from what your perceive as committing political suicide while somehow convincing them you really are trying.

So, I’d expect Pelosi to do what Boehner did next: Publicly giving lukewarm support as a sign of unity while working behind the scenes to find new candidates to primary the trouble makers, cut off re-election funding, etc.
