Given the EO and the cross departmental sharing of data and subsequent ramifications, I wonder if the Left now regrets fighting Trump on inclusion of a simple question on the census? … NAH!

    • POTUS will use Census Funding (remember that $16-20 Billion…) to INTEGRATE ALL Government Databases on Citizenship & Illegals!!!

      • Now let your mind run wild on how we can then WEED OUT Illegals from EVERY Federal Program … and CUT FUNDING for States based on their Illegal Populations!

      • Then we can COMPLETELY CUT FEDERAL FUNDING for every past-declared Sanctuary City & State until THEY have deported ALL of their Illegals.

      • Student Loan Eligibility for Illegals goes up in SMOKE.

      • E-Verify gets a YUGE Jump-Start.

      • Then we hit the VOTER ROLL PURGES!

      BEST PART:
We start IMMEDIATELY without having to wait for the Census Count to begin in 2020.

Unexpected! Big data comes to non-citizens. I’m so tired of being surveilled by Google, and every website I visit, and my data compiled, sliced, diced and sold to the highest bidder, all without my permission, AND, I presume, shared with NSA and others in government so that any one with access to their data can spy on me, legally or illegally. Now, it seems, big data will identify non-citizens.

Several years ago I got a letter from the IRS telling me it couldn’t process my tax return because fraud was suspected. I had filed an extension, not a return, so I knew someone had filed using my SSN. I had to jump through many hoops to filed subsequent returns, and was required to sign up with Experian, which promptly had my data stolen. I could not find anyone in government who would tell me who had filed this fraudulent return. I later surmised that an illegal alien was using it to gain employment and file returns, the IRS was aware of that, and had concluded they wanted illegals to file returns, used their own data analytics to figure out what was what, and was taking those returns, but not prosecuting anyone for SSN or identity theft.

Well, now the time has come the Walrus said, to talk of many things, of SSN thefts, and tax filings, illegal alien status. I hope they use big data to find and prosecute all those who unlawfully aid and abet violation of lawfully issued court orders, i.e., those who instruct illegals on how to avoid being served with lawful deportation orders, after their asylum requests were finally determined against them.

Barr says “there is a current dispute over whether illegal aliens can be included for apportionment purposes…depending on the resolution of that dispute this data may be relevant to those considerations…we will be studying this issue”.
So what does this mean…apportionment is not necessarily based on citizenship? The apportionment laws are vague and subject to interpretation?

Yes, very odd indeed. Apportionment is about voting. Why are illegals a factor?

        • Marc says:

Apportionment is about representation rather than voting. The higher the populace, the more representatives a state is allowed in the House. Illegals should never be apportioned because they have no legal right to be considered citizens. This is why the 3/5ths Compromise came to be, so that slave states could get partial representation for the slaves residing within their borders, but not full representation which was considered unfair to free states as slaves obviously couldn’t vote.

I’m not a lawyer, but I believe the Constitution describes apportionment based on population. This might be where there is dispute: does “population” pre-suppose it’s comprised of legal citizens or not.

If you look at the wording of that Amendment – it talks about counting ‘persons’ excluding Indians. Indians were also excluded from birth right citizenship because they weren’t citizens. Both of these Amendments were written at the same time so it seems to me that only citizens were expected to be counted since only citizens were considered ‘persons’ at the time of writing. Not a lawyer and I’m probably wrong but it is a point to argue from.

Will be a very good argument when they file court case against President Trump. They have been collecting our information for years. So how is a judge going to be allowed to discriminate against the citizens of the USA after years condoning data collection.

      Can not be done.

I believe the language needs to change. Stop using the words illegal immigrants or aliens. They are people with citizenship in another country. Who even knows if they still cast ballots in their native country. Start demanding that citizens of other countries living here illegally be deported. Start with the ones already told to get out. Mining SS data will be a huge start to getting to the bottom of identity theft. Of course it all depends on the will of those in D.C. to execute POTUS directives.

Yes, and THIS is the job we hired him to do. He has not disappointed me or most of use here at all. We recognize we don’t know everything we want to know about what’s going on in various areas, but good things come to those who wait and so we do.

The Supreme Court said the administration has the unquestionable legal right to ask the question. It’s ridiculously stupid to deny this legal right because of justification which is NOT at all necessary in the first place. First a judge rules not on what Trump’s EO said, but on what he said during his presidential campaign before he became president. Now the highest court in the land is also ruling not on the legal right but on whether or not the president has “mean thoughts.”

We no longer have a justice system. We’ve seen this over and over again and in many ways. And once again, we wait for that to be restored as well.

I hope the taking down of Epstein leads to the takedown of the entire blackmail controlled swamp. We know Epstein wasn’t a hedge fund manager. No one worked in the fake office and he spent all of his time at parties. So the real question is who funded him and what they got for Epstein’s services. Prove that and it ALL falls down. And with that, I suspect Trump’s constant obstruction falls away as well.

Working with the 60+ million reference point. The real question is how are they distributed?
Social media/MSM would have us believe that the central tendency is that non citizens are distributed along political divides via sanctuary jurisdictions.

I am not sure that is the case.***1

If so, by making a big deal of asking the Question on the census, “Are you a citizen?” Could not possible indirectly, the ‘move the ball’ down the field back fires on the DNC/RINOs.

Seriously, by rejecting the citizenship question, “What has been established is the fundemental role the census plays in apportionment of Congressional seats.

That is the game and the number one unaddress fear. “It is not that resident aliens won’t answer the question”, the prevailing fear is, “In the grip of TDS many left leaning citizens may self undercount the census by not complying out ideological objection to the question, “Are you a citizen?”

It is an important reference point the opposition/resistance has established in objecting to the Citizen question.”

Now, that the DNC have made their bed…
“The question reflection back on the correlation argument of the undocument.
In other words those have entered the USofA illegally. By forcing the issue, the DNC has no grounds not to accept the results. In other words by the very nature of slipping under the radar, the DNC has no means to refute this is how undocumented resident aliens are distrubuted across the Nation.
Once that hits the DNC up aside of the heads just watch, “How quickly the DNC in the House moves to close loop holes in the laws.” More VSGPDJT

Again, by the very nature of not knowing who is here legally and who is not, “How can it possibly be argued the census results are not an accurate reflection of the population.

***1 I do believe in many respects, undocumented resident illegal aliens are effectively barred from social services(contrary to MSM reporting), that means in effect, they have gravitated to States where they are economically viable(does not mean they can vote).

In other words States that are ecomonically vibrant, combined with population flight from the likes of Ca, NY and NJ, while states like TX, FL and plains States, the results may see a census that supports a realigment in number of House Seat apportioned.

In truth, the number of net loss/net increase seats in play is likely only five to seven seats, but the census results might just be on the RNC side.

Solutions only come when all of the information is revealed. They aren’t just going to reveal how many. They are going to reveal how much money is wasted on them. They are going to show not just how much voter fraud there is, but also what a drain they are on this country’s resources. After that, no citizen that cares about this country and the massive debt and taxes we pay will be able to support any further Democrat policy making. And after that, it won’t matter how many illegals vote.

Late to the comment party so I’m sure this has been posted somewhere already. But this is a good alternative, but the census is what determines state representation in the House among other things. He needed to see this through. I don’t get why it was so impossible, even SCOTUS said it was constitutional, he just needed a different rationale, which could have easily been put forward. I’m pretty sour over this.

The Supreme Court decision made it impossible to add the question in time to print the Census forms. As soon as a new rationale was presented to the Supreme Court, everything would have been re-litigated in other courts for months. Not to mention court injunctions in place not allowing the questions.

I suppose this could process could have been started two years ago, but something tells me the injunctions and court cases would have come up at the last minute anyway. This is how the DEMS fight. The best, and only practical course of action, was this one. Roberts messed it up big time again.

Not a win, but the best course of action given the way the Dems use the courts.

Another example of a Trump admin screw-up trying to be presented as a win. Gathering the citizen data from other agencies was the original proposal of the Census Bureau, but was rejected by the Administration. Now Trump has no choice but to do it that way, even though the count won’t be official or be considered for House apportionment (which is based on the Census).

There is noting in the law that says the census has to be filled out by hand … it’s just that hand filling out the forms was the most accurate way to count people for most of our history. Surely just a SSN count would be more accurate for determining the total population and their location from the latest IRS form would show where they live. That is ALL that is required by the census. All the other stuff is just the Government being nosy.

Because, as Secretary Ross explained in his original memo announcing the citizenship question, where he rejected the use of federal records for determining the number of citizens, a mere compiling of existing federal records “would provide an incomplete picture.” In addition, the Census Act states that reapportionment can only be done using the Census (contrary to what many here are claiming).

    • Eric Kennedy says:

Do your realize how inaccurate the actual Census is? This will be far more accurate. And just wait until the actual number of illegals comes out.

      Also, Trump said:

The Census Bureau can use this information, along with information collected through the questionnaire, to create the official census. In other words, as a result of today’s executive order, we will be able to ensure the 2020 Census generates an accurate count of how many citizens, non-citizens, and illegal aliens are in the United States of America. Not too much to ask.

This will greatly inform a wide array of public policy decisions. This information is also relevant to administering our elections. Some states may want to draw state and local legislative districts based upon the voter-eligible population.
