Mexico Threatens Tariff Retaliation…

Too funny…. apparently Mexican Economy Minister Graciela Marquez didn’t watch what happened to China (or Canada) when they made similar threats of retaliation against President Trump’s tariffs.  Seriously.

President Trump wants the border secure, yes. However, President Trump would also welcome a trade tariff battle with Mexico (they can’t win); so this isn’t a technically a threat from the position of POTUS:

(Reuters) – Mexico will be ready to retaliate in kind if the U.S. government imposes tariffs on Mexican exports to the United States, Mexican Economy Minister Graciela Marquez said on Friday.

Speaking in Congress, Marquez said Mexico’s government would also initiate bilateral and multilateral procedures to defend its trade interests if the United States were to introduce tariffs. (link)

Now, if Mexico intended to fulfill its end of the recent border and immigration agreement, the tariffs would be a moot point.  So why are Mexican officials even contemplating a tariff war?

Here’s the specific and expanded Mexican promise on border and migration control:

That’s the letter POTUS Trump had in his pocket:

Essentially: keep your word, or in 45 days things will get ugly…. and 45 days from then, the 20% rate tariffs will begin.  Choose wisely.

It is we the voters who are stupider than the world leaders. If we were smarter, we would have figured out the deception and fraud a long time ago and elected far better and far more honest leaders and representatives in Congress.

We did much better by electing PDJT. We also have maybe a dozen honest members of Congress who aren’t on the take. Now we only have to replace the other 523.

These invaders were labeled ‘New Seeds” meaning they are to be the new and transformed america’ (intentionally lower case ‘a’).

These invaders were the ones who suppose to be unleashed on the white American population by any means to wipe them out, put them into their prepared FEMA camps and worse.

Well, to repeat what the president has said . . . We are the big piggy bank other nations depend on. The US market is diverse enough that, again as the president keeps reminding our trading partners, we can comfortably get along entirely without them. We have the manufacturing resources, the workforce, raw materials, and financial power necessary to be pretty much self-contained for an indefinite period of time. Put another way, the president is telling Mexico, Canada, and China (among others) that is we who are standing on their air-supply. They can threaten and bluster all they want but, when all is said and done, they need us far more than we need them. For example: the other day I was in Harbor Freight (AKA the Chinese Embassy). One of the staff told me that Harbor Freight is already sourcing most of their stuff from countries other than China. He also said more and more of their products are being made in the USA.

The globalists, of course, absolutely hate this but, you know something? Who the hell cares? Globalism has intentionally impoverished America’s middle-class. During the campaign the president repeatedly spoke of the abandoned factories that he saw on the campaign trail and how he’d like to see those lost jobs return to America. Other countries have long used tariffs to protect their industries and workers. I think the president has decided that if they can protect their industries and workers with tariffs, then so can we. Go Trump!

“The tariff history of the United States spans from 1789 to present. The first tariff law passed by the U.S. Congress, acting under the then-recently ratified Constitution, was the Tariff of 1789. Its purpose was to generate revenue for the federal government (to run the government and to pay the interest on its debt), and also to act as a protective barrier around newly starting domestic industries.”

The high tariff (for them) and zero tariff (for us) relationship was a posted WWII arrangement intended to give damaged European and Asian economies an opportunity to revitalize. It was a good idea at the time because they desperately needed to rebuild their industrial base and we were the most dynamic market for them to sell too. Problem was the arrangement became permanent and globalist oligarchs in this country enjoyed the ability to profit off their foreign investments by hiding behind tariffs and selling stuff to us.
It was a sweet deal—for them and, over time, a very bad deal for us as a country.

As Sundance has often said, thanks to Trump trillions of dollars are now at stake. And, right on time, the off-shore American companies making things in China to sell to us are all whining loudly (at China’s behest) about the damage Trump’s tariffs will cause them.

Tariffs were indispensable in the development of a US industrial economy and achieving true independence *in fact*… not merely by declaration… from Great Britain and other European powers.

Furthermore, all prominent Republicans — I repeat ALL prominent Republicans — from Lincoln until Eisenhower were in favor of tariffs to nurture, yes, *PROTECT*… US domestic manufacturing. We would not have risen to be the preeminent industrial power of the world in the 20th century without that policy. Impossible.

Although written in the 1990s and therefore no longer fully up to date, nevertheless Pat Buchanan’s “The Great Betrayal” is a fantastic and highly readable treatise on this, and of course 19th and 20th century history hasn’t changed since its publication.

    drumroll please

    Refined petroleum products..
Specifically Gasoline AND Natural gas, ..
Remember, Mexico is currently having problems with the Cartel’s et al vandalizing it’s “Gas” lines..
Think what happens, when & if Gas gets real scarce AND goes up in price because of “tariffs”..
Mexico might be “Short Squeezed” realizing they cannot even “export” Products either..

We got’em by the Pelos Cortos 😉

    Top Ten Mexico Imports.
    http://www.worldstopexports.com/mexicos-top-10-imports/
Given Mexico’s population of 126 million people, its total $464.3 billion in 2018 imports translates to roughly $3,700 in yearly product demand from every person in the southernmost North American country.
Why does Mexico, an oil producer, need to import refined petroleum products?
    FTA:
Mexico may have major reserves of petroleum but it lacks the necessary refining capacity to supply the domestic market with all the refined products such as vehicle fuels that its industrial, commercial and residential sectors demand.
As a result, Mexico has to import refined petroleum products, mainly from the USA. The high costs of these imports is a constant point of discussion in Mexico. If the country developed sufficient refining capacity, it could spend every dollar that currently goes on petro-based imports on something else, such as social services or infrastructure improvements.

In other words, It’s a Third World Chit-Hole..

Fifth world nobodies. They THINK they are ‘someone’ when they are really ‘no one’ of importance. Mexico is only that little sh*thole piece of land to the SOUTH of our own border, full of shiftless, worthless, LAZY liars, cheats and thieves. Mexicans just don’t have standing in the world. EVERYBODY else in the world KNOWS them for ‘who’ and “WHAT” they are….. They should be grateful that we let our flotsam and jetsam swirl down that way so they will HAVE SOMETHING. Our throwaway cars, goods and shiftless ne’er do wells, (the ne’er do wells will fit right in)….. Mexico’s “produce” can be manufactured from discarded cardboard, (ever tasted crap called food from Mexico?)! Their manufactured clothing is ALL inferior to even the Japanese goods of old.

jfjdsiu—not all of them are as you describe. Separate the politicians, the cartels and the influx of illegals that are coming into their country from the “triangle” and there are a LOT of very unhappy Mexican citizens right now!

And THAT is what may (combined with tariffs) shake things up and change things dramatically!

jfhdisiu I don’t particularly like the “all the apples in the barrel are rotten” statement implied.. there are MANY hard-working Hispanics here in the U.S.A., and, I imagine, in Mexico… I also tend to agree that there are many who qualify as to your statements…
      but, let’s be fair…

Any one coming across the border WITHOUT our permission is an illegal alien invader. But that aside, I’ve known MANY Mexicans over a period of 70 years. Not a ONE of them was worth the humanity they were born to. The South Vietnamese were more honorable…. Now! The Spanish Mexicans HATE the peasants, (Native Mexicans), with the BIG H. The Spanish Mexicans are no good invaders themselves who are trying to rid themselves of the Native population by foisting them off on us, BECAUSE the native population IS so lazy and dishonorable. They really ARE peasants.. Most alien invaders from Mexico itself ARE Native Mexicans. An illegal’s work here is theft, but they don’t WORK at home in Mexico. That’s supposedly the reason they HAVE to come here to steal.

When Mexico STOPS the illegal alien invaders themselves, they will have shown that they are not shiftless, worthless, LAZY liars, cheats and thieves. Until then….. Were the people in Mexico NOT shiftless, worthless, LAZY liars, cheats and thieves they would have a THRIVING economy that isn’t based on shaking down their neighbors… Let Mexicans LOOK AFTER THEIR OWN if they don’t want the reputation they’ve earned..

Interesting articles out there about situation in Mexico. I am still a slow learner when it comes to posting links! –Sorry

Seems that the Mexican Immigration chief “resigned”. We have to remember –AMLO just took office in December.

The resigned immigration chief from articles ticked off Nielson because his philosophy was open borders and he was “very outspoken in human rights”. “Gueillen, the former head of an immigration think tank, was notably absent during back-to-back meetings in Washing where that deal was worked out.”

The kicker of it all…..the new immigration chief was the Director of Prisons.

    Starting to get REALLY interesting!

Looks like Mexico is not going to comply.

Tariffs are good idea but also, tax payments back to Mexico by 50%, can trump do that with EO? Would seem to me that would work on both American and Mexican soil. Keep illegals out!!!

As long as the US congress and politicians continue to publicly undermine President Trump’s goals, countries like China and Mexico will be embolden to mouth off against Trump. What they fail to grasp is, our President puts his money where his mouth is and does what he says he will do.
What Mexico fails to realise is Americans are woke to how much Mexico and Mexicans hate us. They also fail to understand that the politicians in this country do not speak for the majority. So come on Mexico, go ahead and retaliate.

If we close our border for a week your economy will feel major pain. And the thing is, that’s what we really want to see. You think we are a passive bunch of idiots like the puppets in congress have been for decades? Just try us!!! We want this fight more than you do. We want to humble the crap out of your whole country as payback for all the illegals you have been sending, all the crime you have been sending; all the backhanded help you have been giving China by repackaging and backdooring their products.
WE WANT OUR AUTO INDUSTRY BACK, we want our manufacturing back.
So PLease, please please Mexico, on behalf of America I say MAKE MY DAY!!
As our conservative actor Clint Eastwood would say.

Mexico has 45 days or this happens,
“Mexican officials convinced Trump to delay his demand for a “safe third country” agreement and give them 45 days to show that the other measures in the agreement will work. If they don’t, foreign minister Ebrard understands that Mexico will either have to accept new asylum measures or face tariffs.”

Of course, my back yard is already full of all the unwanted illegals I already have.

THE CASE FOR TAXING REMITTANCES THAT DRAIN OUR WEALTH

Gaybama scoffed at the idea of taxing remittances saying
“The notion that we’re going to track every Western Union bit of money
that’s being sent to Mexico, you know, good luck with that,”

We already know he was a vindictive, communist Kenyan jackass who hates America. He pretended that imposing a percentage SURCHARGE to be immediately paid by those sending money to certain countries was something to be dismissed, just as he did with saying Trump would need a magic wand to bring back manufacturing.
But when we look at just how much money flows out in remittances it is staggering.

The World Bank reported the following.
In 2018 – “Excluding China, remittances to low- and middle-income countries ($462 billion) were significantly larger than foreign direct investment flows in 2018 ($344 billion)”.
That is YUGE, the flow of remittances was $118 Billion higher than actual investment funding. While an investment provides a return on money, remittances simply siphon of wealth from the sending country.

Now let’s look at just how much money pours out of America by illegals sending money back home that goes towards rebuilding their countries and increasing wealth there, while America gets NOTHING back.

In 2016 figures according to the world bank for the previous years are telling.
The U.S. is the biggest single source of those remittances — with an estimated $56 billion outflow in 2015.
The Bank estimates that officially recorded annual remittance flows to low- and middle-income countries reached $529 billion in 2018, an increase of 9.6 percent over the previous record high of $483 billion in 2017. As usual the USA led the way.

And where did those remittances come from and to which countries were they sent?
Mexico continued to receive the most remittances in the region, posting about $36 billion in 2018. ( keep in mind this is just to the single country Mexico that got $36 Billion).
Three other countries in the region posted double-digit increases in the remittances they received in 2018: Guatemala (13 percent) as well as Dominican Republic and Honduras (both 10 percent), reflecting robust outbound remittances from the United States. ( Stats courtesy World Bank Group).
All this is outflow of our wealth where we get nothing back.

In terms of costs and the drain on US Citizens’ wealth lets look at other ways Mexico and illegals drain our wealth.
Mexico sends its poor to be clothed, housed educated, and obtain medical care at the expense of America’s tax payers. Its estimated it costs US tax payers An estimate of $35, 000 annually per each illegal without any hospitalizations. Hospitalizations adds about 15% more.
    2. Note food stamps were not included in this calculation.
    3. Free Higher education costs given by universities/colleges were also not included.

Folks we have over 60 million illegals in this country, and over 10 million refugees and yet others with ‘special temporary status” who run in the millions. Though these last categories
cannot be categorized as undocumented illegals they receive all the FREE benefits of our welfare system.

Are you beginning to have your eyes popped open at how much this invasion is costing you and me our children and grandchildren? Its welfare benefits, free education, free housing, Food stamps, free higher education given to people who do not give back. Instead they take their earnings and send it out of the country. It therefore does is not reinvested in the communities where they live, or in helping America.

Add to all this the fact that 90% of these people DO NOT PAY ANY INCOME TAX. However they’ve scammed IRS for decades to receive child tax credits (some up to US$30,000) claiming as dependents numerous children not living in the USA, not even US citizens, without having to offer any proof these children even exists. The average is about $15,000 claimed in tax credits per illegal family.

Again 90% DO NOT PAY PROPERTY/REAL ESTATE TAXES.
So they do not contribute at all to the building and upkeep of our infrastructure, roads, hospitals, courts, armed forces, airports NOTHING!!
They may pay rent, but most are given housing allowances by our government and pack those apartments roof high with family members.

So all this money is invested in illegals who work and send their money back to their countries and America gets nothing back. We educate illegals who will take that education knowledge and skills to scuttle our Constitution like the certain fresh-women in Congress.
Others take it back to their countries, or become advisors in international organizations and NGO’s to tell others how to keep scamming our country. Certain radio/tv personalities come to mind.

You can see that the argument that illegals pay sales tax is laughable in the scheme of things when they get everything else FREE. What the hell are they contributing?
Seriously, illegals are a major drain on America costing us as much as the bad trade deals combined. The wealth of this country is hemorrhaging like a public fire hydrant in the summer. All of this is permitted by the cabal that we call the US Congress.

We also pay to protect Europe, carry the cost of the United Nations with the largest contribution totaling more than the rest of the world combined. We paid for that multi billion real estate that houses the UN and all the utility bills and security to maintain it. The new NATO building was built with American tax dollars too. On top of that there is financial aid siphoned off to countries all over the world. Think of this when you vote for incumbents who’ve been in DC more than two terms. 80% of them need to be sent home.
