Sunday May 26th – Open Thread

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

This has got to be one of the stupidest things…men claiming to be female competing against women. If we have to put up with this idiocy, the least we could do is have a third classification for transgenders. Honestly, who in the hell will watch women’s events if “men” are competing in it?

Aside from that,,, Laura Ingraham brought up the incident/issue in CT.. It was the same high school she attended back in the day.. All this is bundled into a new law recently passed by the House,, the Equality Act… SMH…. it will get much worse.

I have thought about a third classification for trans people..

The way I see it, an athlete has a choice. They can either compete as what they really are, or they can go through the change to the other sex. Period. Trying to make the world revolve around them, as small as the group is, is ridiculous.

So transgenders should be allowed to
participate in their own transgender titled sports events or they are no different than athletes that use steroids to enhance their abilities in sports and should be treated like cheaters and denied entry to male and female sports events.

Can anyone explain the recent surge of anti-abortion laws in different states? I’m confused as to why this is a sudden issue with these states, or in general, lately.

    • nimrodman says:

I can’t explain it for sure, but I will say that the recent “abortion until birth – or even after” laws (New York? Virginia? where the Governor got a lot of attention) and the severely restrictive anti-abortion laws (heartbeat, 6 weeks – Alabama?) are unfortunate opposite sides of a coin.

Some have speculated that the severely restrictive laws recently enacted might have been in part a response to the abortion-after-birth push.

… that conservatives were even triggered into acting oppositely
… but I’d have to think the restrictive laws were in the works for awhile, it’s seemed “too quick” that they were strictly reactionary – but that’s just my opinion.

What I WILL say, is that it’s to the detriment of conservatives that the restrictive laws were rolled out and passed.

If you wanted a Get-Out-the-Vote program for leftist women, pu$$y-hated women, raving feminists, and even a bunch of women in the middle … you couldn’t come up with a better program than to trumpet restrictions on abortion.

Even assuming the best of intents, this is a push that should have waited until after the 2020 elections.

Because the long view would be “We’ve been graced with President Trump. And this is a last possible chance to save America. Those 2 facts should be foremost above all other considerations.”

With the challenges of voter fraud and “vote harvesting” facing us, the last possible thing you’d want to happen as a conservative is for leftist voter turnout to be maximized by unforced error (beyond the levels that the histrionic ranting of the left will already produce).

But this restrictive abortion push in 2019 has surely done it, surely maximized leftist and leftist women turnout in 2020.

It’s been on my mind a couple weeks now, finally taking the time to voice it in reply to your question.

      As always, YMMV

This is a really great question… We have had, ahem,, discussions at my house.. Not that I have an answer, but I do have a suggestion… Do a little online research and look up Justice Scalia’s comments on Roe V. Wade.. There are many people that felt it(Roe v. Wade) was a terrible decision.. but Justice Scalia felt it was more about State’s rights etc.. and that the Government would be in big trouble if it tried to rule on this on a federal level, or something. And this problem that he saw happening,, I think that is what we are seeing now..

      Here is a summary… https://www.thoughtco.com/roe-v-wade-overview-3528244

      From the dissenting opinion:

Finally, he concluded(Justice Rehnquist) that because this issue required a careful balance of the interests of the woman against the interests of the state, it was not an appropriate decision for the Court to make, but instead was a question that should have been left up to state legislatures to resolve.

Or course with the Recent Virginia comments & the attempted passing of that “infanticide bill” was the “final straw” for most republicans..

    Faith And Hearing

“Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God” (Rom. 10:17).

This important passage of Scripture is, sad to say, little understood. Many people think of faith in the abstract, as though it had some mysterious power in itself. They speak of faith, but what do they mean? Faith in what? or in whom? Surely it is not possible just to have faith, without something or someone to have faith in.

Faith is not wishing hard, or feeling confident. It is not optimism or presumption or imagination. Faith must have a basis, a foundation. Thus the Christian’s faith is founded on “the Word of God” — on what God has said in the Bible.

The above passage explains: “Faith cometh by hearing.” Isn’t that simple? Isn’t it true? Some have said that “seeing is believing,” but a moment’s reflection will reveal that, like the phrase: “I’m from Missouri,” this saying is an expression of unbelief. When we have seen a thing we need no longer believe it; it has been demonstrated to us. But when we hear [or read] a matter reported, we may either believe or doubt it. “Faith cometh by hearing.” And likewise hearing comes through what has been said. We believe, or doubt, what we hear and we hear what has been said. The Christian’s faith, then, comes by hearing (God) and hearing by the Word of God. All true Christian faith is founded on the Word of God.

Actually the word “hearing,” in Rom. 10:17, however, has the idea of heeding — paying attention, listening eagerly. This is why Gal. 3:5 speaks of “the hearing of faith.” And thus Eph. 1:13, referring to Christ, says: “In whom ye also trusted, having heard the Word of truth, the gospel of your salvation.” Thus, too, we read in John 5:24 the words of the Lord Jesus:

“HE THAT HEARETH MY WORD, AND BELIEVETH ON HIM THAT SENT ME, HATH EVERLASTING LIFE, AND SHALL NOT COME INTO JUDGMENT, BUT IS PASSED FROM DEATH UNTO LIFE.”

    By Pastor Cornelius R. Stam

    https://www.bereanbiblesociety.org/faith-and-hearing/

Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Galatians 3:5 He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

Ephesians 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

It is clear that the founders wanted to protect the presidency from foreign intrigue (infiltration and influence). That is the expressed intent of the Constitution’s natural born Citizen clause. Written records from the founding reveal that they gave the presidency this special protection both because its power was concentrated in one man and that one man was commander-in-chief of the country’s military might.

The founders put in place the natural born Citizen restriction to maximize the likelihood that our president would be a loyal American with ties and allegiance exclusively to America and no other country or sovereign. To this end a president must be both a born citizen (the meaning of which is obvious) and a natural citizen.

So what exactly is a natural citizen? This must be the most normal, common type of citizen who naturally populate a country, that is those whose inherent nature (born of citizen parents) make them citizens naturally (requiring no law to be citizens — because no other citizenship is possible).

Who are the citizens who would naturally populate a society in a repeating stable cycle into perpetuity? The only answer possible is citizens born within the country to parents who themselves are citizens. This is the only pattern that naturally can repeat over and over again. The founders did not see the need to define something that to them was so obvious. How far we have fallen to have abandoned their wisdom.

    Like

    • thinkwell says:

By the way, natural allegiance is influenced strongly primarily by three factors:

      1) the citizenship and allegiance of one’s father,

      2) the citizenship and allegiance of one’s mother, and

      3) the place where one is born and raised (because of the citizenship and allegiance of one’s peers).**

** It is important to note that in the time of the founding people were generally raised where they were born.

The greatest natural allegiance arises only when all three factors are aligned with the USA. That is what a natural born Citizen is, a person with no natural allegiances other than to the USA.

O Lord, you have examined my heart and know everything about me. 2 You know when I sit or stand. 5 You both precede and follow me and place your hand of blessing on my head.

13 You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit them together in my mother’s womb. 14 Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! It is amazing to think about. Your workmanship is marvelous—and how well I know it. 15 You were there while I was being formed in utter seclusion! 16 You saw me before I was born and scheduled each day of my life before I began to breathe. It must be her determination also modeling for her children plus she’s programed after all these years on tv and radio etc. And we are all wired differently. In any event I know she will be just fine.

Two hundred and twenty-seven years ago this month, the U.S. Congress passed the Militia Acts of 1792. This pair of bills authorized the president to lead the state militias in war and to conscript all able-bodied free men to fight with self-provided arms and munitions.

To a modern American living in the midst of an empire with a permanent military presence both here and abroad, there might be little reason to acknowledge this anniversary. However, it offers an example of how the founders believed military defense and war should be handled, and why so many modern arguments against civilian gun ownership don’t match the history.
