Thursday May 23rd – Open Thread

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

    Christ And Politics

Astronaut John Glenn in politics — running for the U. S. Senate! It seems odd to think of him in a political role, but evidently he feels he can serve his country best in politics.

But did you ever think of Christ’s relation to politics? He came into this world, remember, as a King. The very opening words of the New Testament are: “Jesus Christ, the Son of David…” (Matt. 1:1). This emphasizes the fact that He came from the royal line. John the Baptist had gone forth as the King’s herald, to prepare His way, and the twelve apostles proclaimed His royal rights as they preached “the gospel of the kingdom.” This was all in fulfillment of Isaiah’s prophecy:

“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder: and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David…” (Isa. 9:6,7).

Instead of crowning Him King, however, they nailed Him to a cross and wrote over His head His “accusation”: “This is Jesus, the King of the Jews.”

Actually our Lord had come especially, this first time, to be rejected and crucified for the sins of men. Psalm 22, Isaiah 53 and other Old Testament passages had predicted that at His first coming He would be despised and rejected. Matt. 20:28 says of this coming: “The Son of Man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister and to give his life a ransom for many.”

Our Lord did not die an untimely death; the cross was not a useless sacrifice. He knew that man’s greatest need is moral and spiritual — that his sins must be paid for if he is not to be condemned forever before the court of eternal Justice. So in love He came to be rejected and suffer and die “the Just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God” (I Pet. 3:18).

He will come again to judge and reign as all prophecy indicates, but for the present He deals with mankind in grace. Eph. 1:7 says that “in [Him] we have redemption, through His blood, the forgiveness of sins according to the riches of His grace” and Rom. 3:24 declares that believers are “justified freely by [God’s] grace, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.”

    By Pastor Cornelius R. Stam

Matthew 1:1 The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.

Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

Matthew 20:28 Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

1 Peter 3:18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:

    Ephesians 1:7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

Romans 3:24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

You never stop “being a parent.” And when they marry, you accept those spouses as family now, too. And just like the joy you feel, watching yours “adulting” you also feel the sorrow and worry that your daughter is now dealing with now.

Be strong for her…just be ready to be “daddy” for her too. No matter what…she learned her strength from you, and she is going to need it periodically….even if you need to instigate it during a private moment.

I will keep your Son/law in my Prayers…it’s not fair to be struck this hard as a younger person with a young family……but….I will also include you….too…for you are going to be the one to help your daughter get through this.

How Your Dog Knows When You’re Sick, Even Before You

Our dogs know when we’re sick by using their senses — especially their noses — to pick up the tiniest changes in our scent and other signals we give off
Your dog may even know you’re coming down with something before you do, thanks to his truly remarkable sense of smell, which is up to 100,000 times sharper than yours
The canine sense of smell is helping detect several types of human cancer; dogs are also being trained to detect medical emergencies in humans before they reach the crisis stage
Dogs can also sense human moods with their noses, and respond by mirroring their owner’s emotional state

Dogs have been used for years in Europe to test for prostate cancer, there are special facilities training/selecting them. All of the testing of the dogs shows they are usually far more correct in their ‘diagnoses’ (sorry, wrote itself) than current lab-based testings. So far the tested dogs have not, in any testings, been shown to be less accurate.

There is tremendous resistance here to their use, it’s disguised as questions about the ability of a mere dog and its possibly making a mistake (as if labs and doctors don’t) but it’s really about $$$. I was in medical insurance for years and learned 1st hand that it’s all money, that’s what drives every factor in the medical-industrial complex.

Those guys who’ve had the pleasure of being tested for possible prostate cancer knows there are two basic ways. Way One is a 40-minute (at least) MRI where you’re squeezed into a noisy and tight Pringles tube with an IV in your arm. That’s uncomfortable but then you have the biopsy where your fully conscious body is subjected to 8 to twelve punctures by a biopsy device you swear was developed by the Caligari-Mengele medical team. I had the MRI while a friend had the biopsy. He is a three-war combat vet and has been married for just short of 50 years so he knows pain – he was in tears and could not sit/lie down comfortably for days after the biopsy.

My insurance company was billed, entire process considered, a couple of grand for my MRI while my friend’s insurance was billed far more for the biopsy, hospital stay, follow-up, etc. The medical processes are money makers, think what would happen if the screenings could be accurately done by a dog as part of a regular check-up. Fast, accurate and there’s no way the med business could bill $3000 or more, not to mention the inconvenience to you, for a doggie sniff.

The medical industry is and has been fighting using dogs for years, as they do anything that cuts into their bottom line. Don’t expect to see ANYTHING that doesn’t increase the costs of medical treatment being brought into the business any time soon.

And I know you’re aware of dogs trained to recognize seizures. I know they work, the owners/trainers know they work yet one **** of a lot of doctors won’t ‘prescribe’ one or even discuss them and most insurance companies (unless they’ve changed a long-standing policy) won’t cover the purchase.

One of these days the medical industry will find a way to make 3rd party payers cough up the money and they’ll be prescribing dogs like they did opioids.

A majority of our drugs including generic are made overseas.

Generic drugs amount to 90% of all prescriptions filled in the U.S., most of them made in plants in India and China. Generic drugs can be more affordable, but in her new explosive book “Bottle of Lies: The Inside Story of the Generic Drug Boom,” investigative journalist Katherine Eban works with two industry whistleblowers to expose how some manufacturers are cutting corners at the cost of quality and safety. This comes as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration just issued its own update on the state of pharmaceutical quality that found the drug quality of factories in India and China scored below the world average. FDA officials say that’s because more robust inspections have uncovered problems and that “the quality of the drug supply has never been higher.”

Walk by Faith, Not by Sight
    MAY 23, 2019

    Matthew 14:22-33
22 Immediately He made the disciples get into the boat and go ahead of Him to the other side, while He sent the crowds away. 23 After He had sent the crowds away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray; and when it was evening, He was there alone. 24 But the boat was already a long distance from the land, battered by the waves; for the wind was contrary. 25 And in the fourth watch of the night He came to them, walking on the sea. 26 When the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were terrified, and said, It is a ghost!” And they cried out in fear. 27 But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid.” 28 Peter said to Him, Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” 29 And He said, Come!” And Peter got out of the boat, and walked on the water and came toward Jesus. 30 But seeing the wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, Lord, save me!” 31 Immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and took hold of him, and said to him, You of little faith, why did you doubt?” 32 When they got into the boat, the wind stopped. 33 And those who were in the boat worshiped Him, saying, You are certainly God’s Son!”

Throughout His ministry, Jesus repeatedly commended people for faith and reproved others for a lack of it. Faith is of great importance because it’s required for salvation. It’s also essential after we’re saved, as we are to continue living by faith—that is, by the firm conviction God will do what He has promised. This requires us to stay focused on the Lord. If we take our eyes off Jesus and start looking at circumstances, our confidence in Him could begin to wobble.

A good example is Peter’s experience of walking on the Sea of Galilee. He started out confident, but as soon as he looked away from Jesus and saw the wind, human reasoning took over. The apostle thought, People can’t walk on water!—and his faith faltered. We’re just like Peter when we know what God has said but try to add our logic to His commands.

Another reason we falter is that when we focus on the circumstances instead of on Christ, little problems can seem huge and start to dominate our thoughts. That’s why we must consider every situation in the light of our great God, who can handle anything and everything.

Sometimes the problem is that we can’t see God in our circumstances. He’s promised to take care of us, but He may provide in a way other than what we want. Or, we may think the Lord couldn’t possibly be in the midst of a difficult or painful situation. But He is, and He works everything for our good if we belong to Him (Rom. 8:28 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose).

Are you walking by faith or relying on your senses and reasoning? Walking by sight brings anxiety and fear, but faith produces peaceful confidence.

They just aren’t what they were even 30 years ago, they’ve dropped quality (a tough word to justify when talking fast food) for quantity.
As for ice cream, the weak soft-serve the junk food mafia sold helped destroy the last REAL, over 80-year old, soda fountain we had. It was so genuinely 40s-50s, they made all of their ice cream dishes, shakes, malts and sodas from scratch using the old dishes and fixtures.

The food was sooooo tasty but with the new owners they decided to forego quality for quantity and their fries are done in some shallow, tasteless 10W-20 and their patties seem to be boiled and put into a warming drawer. It tastes nothing like it used to, it actually HAD taste.

Any thoughts on this from any of the Treepers? Chem trails are obvious to any skywatcher, and I can even believe they’re spraying lithium… but some aspects of the article seem a little “out there.” Anyone else want to weigh in on whether it’s legit?

Sorry if this has been posted before but I just received it from a friend…doesn’t seem to have been a big deal to the MSM.

Y’all remember John Walker Lindh, the American Taliban? He was captured on the battlefield early on when the US invaded Afghanistan in 2001. Lindh, the son of a DoJ lawyer, was sentenced to 20 years for aiding the Taliban and was released 3 years early for good behavior.

Lindh was at the Qala-i-Jangi site with other captured Taliban when the prisoners revolted and, in the process, killed Mike Spann, a CIA operative, making Mike the first American killed in the GWOT and Afghanistan. Most folks have completely forgotten the battle but it went on for days until the revolting surviving Taliban were trapped in a cellar and the defending Afghanis pumped it full of after. JWL was there and was active in the revolt, when the survivors gave up he was captured a 2nd time.

JWL is still an admitted jihadi and is now released right back out into the country he swore to destroy. A lot of members of the government from DoD, to DoJ and especially the intel community are pissed but he only received 20 years and was a good boy for 17 of them. Ain’t this a wunnerful country, we forgive our sworn enemies guilty of being an accessory to murder and let ;’em have a 2nd shot at us?

Island’s parliament calls for ‘sensitive incineration’ of aborted babies

Europe’s most draconian anti-free speech law censoring pro-life freedom of expression will come into effect Friday on the Isle of Man.

The Isle of Man’s parliament, Tynwald, passed a statutory instrument on Thursday, creating no-go zones within 100 meters of the boundary of the land around the island’s Noble’s Hospital.
