I agree with our President. Our country is FULL—of dependent people. For those here taking his comment and running with the idea that we have millions of uninhabited acres throughout flyover country, just waiting for us to fill it up with high rise apartments, consider why the land you’re referring to isn’t full of people?

Let’s take western Kansas, for example. The grain elevators, wheat farms and I-70 hotels and convenience stores can only employ so many people. Before a high rise apartment complex can be built in, let’s say, Burlington, Colorado, there has to be sustainable jobs. Not subsidized housing, people needing food stamps and Medicaid. Small towns and big cities alike need people willing and able to create prosperity, not expand dependency.

For those thinking there’s so much open space just waiting for people to move and fill it up, have you ever thought that many open space areas don’t have enough annual precipitation to provide enough water to maintain bigger populations? Wyoming is the least populated state in America–about 5 people per square mile. Why? Many parts of Wyoming are remote in terms of transportation making commerce improbable. Harsh weather, miles of barren, windswept land and areas of very little water cannot sustain people or livestock.

The big population centers in America all were settled based on availability of basic natural resources–water, timber, tillable, rich farmland, easy access to waterways for commerce, access to oceans for commerce. Dry, barren land remains sparsely populated. For good reason.

The Open Borders crowd sees unpopulated regions and thinks filling those areas up with Section 8 housing, creating balkanized population centers full of dependent people is a great idea in order that Democrats seize and hold power until the dictatorial tyranny they so crave is accomplished. Yet, in the next breath they gripe and complain about not enough govt controlled land mass and not enough pristine outdoor environments and national parks. Can’t have it both ways. You can’t follow BHO’s agenda of expanding small towns, for example, in scenic Idaho with hordes of Muslim ‘refugees’ and still maintain the unique natural beauty and Old West mentality and work ethic.

Do we seriously look at our less populated regions and think we have so much more room to put more people? We are trillions in debt, we have trillions in unfunded liabilities, we have a resurgence in once-cured communicable disease and our President is RIGHT: our community services, hospitals, schools, prisons, etc., are bursting at the seams thanks to unplanned increases in populations of Third World immigrants, demanding all the comforts and opportunities that U.S. citizenship affords. Problem is, we actually can’t afford it.

I agree that there is grand scale planning for the invasion, the same as Europe has experienced.

When I wrote ‘unplanned’, I referred to small rural communities that wake up one morning and there’s a couple busloads of migrants or resettled refugees heading into town. During the Obama Regime, residents of small towns were criticized for meeting buses at the city limits, some holding guns, the message was “Hell no, you aren’t coming here. We can barely afford our own housing, food and taxes to keep the schools open for our kids. You are not coming here and demanding we pave your way.”

        • You make excellent points about the misconception of our open spaces Nobodysfool.

A lot of the “open spaces” is still needed for growing crops.

Here in the western part of the US water must be divided between domestic use and agriculture use.

Water must be take from our small rivers or taken from the ground by drilling, the American west is very dry.

We are already fighting here in Colorado over where the water goes, to the cities for human consumption or to the farms to grow food.

The American west is not like the south or the east where water falls in abundance from the sky.

Here in the dry west e will always be limited as to population to a certain extent.

And this is another reason for the Electoral College.

And as you point out just because there is an abundance of “open space” to put more buildings on that does not mean that there is water or other necessities for human prosperity or quality of life.

That’s why every major city in the U.S. now has huge condo towers and megalopolis apartment complexes that I term “modern caves”.
You’re entitled to your beliefs of course, but I hope your huge family can live an existence without having to beg and scrape for food, housing, clothing, etc.
We have been invaded by huge masses of foreign itinerants who will suck the resources and revenues from our governments without adding to it.

$2000 an acre, with $200 down, 1-5-10 acre lots available right across the highway from where I live.

Just because there is plenty of land does not mean there are other resources to support a large population, even if dispersed over hundreds of miles. There needs to be plenty if good quality water, jobs, roads and other infrastructure just for starters. Pointing only to one resource is extremely simplistic.

In most sparsely populated areas, the answer is a big fat NO. Additionally in populated areas, the answer is also NO, and all will be out of water completely in a short while. Look at Lake Meade or the Ogallala aquifer; what are those millions of people going to do when all the potable water is sucked dry ? Get back to me when you have a well-reasoned and practical answer.

Which is WHY there is so much homelessness. Why is this not discussed? The stunning increase of homelessness in all major cities coincides perfectly with the intentional flooding of our country with refugees and immigrants. There is only so much section 8 housing and community assistance for the down and out. The well funded and well staffed machine that exists to assists refugees and immigrants completely overwhelmed and co-opted the services that used to be available for locals down on their luck or who have trouble holding down work due to mental or drug issues.

We are blessed to live in a country where people can follow their own views/beliefs. Part of this is a government that is separate from religion. (in theory) Be fruitful and multiply is a way of life,,, I understand and respect that, but that may not be my particular belief system. The conflict I think arises when one person has a religious belief that other people end up paying for. I am more of a do unto others person, and that includes looking towards the future and making reasonable plans.

        From the article:

“…In his book, Ehrlich played out hypothetical scenarios that represented “the kinds of disasters that will occur.” In the worst-case scenario, famine rages across the planet. Russia, China, and the United States are dragged into nuclear war, and the resulting environmental degradation soon extinguishes the human race. In the “cheerful” scenario, population controls begin. Famine spreads, and countries teeter, but the major death wave ends in the mid-1980s. Only half a billion or so people die of starvation. “I challenge you to create one more optimistic,” Ehrlich wrote, adding that he would not count scenarios involving benevolent aliens bearing care packages.

The economist Julian Simon took up Ehrlich’s challenge. Technology—water-control techniques, hybridized seeds, management strategies—had revolutionized agriculture, and global crop yields were increasing. To Simon, more people meant more good ideas about how to achieve a sustainable future. So he proposed a wager. Ehrlich could choose five metals that he expected to become more expensive as resources were depleted and chaos ensued over the next decade. Both men agreed that commodity prices were a fine proxy for the effects of population growth, and they set the stakes at $1,000 worth of Ehrlich’s five metals. If, 10 years hence, prices had gone down, Ehrlich would have to pay the difference in value to Simon. If prices went up, Simon would be on the hook for the difference. The bet was made official in 1980.

In October 1990, Simon found a check for $576.07 in his mailbox. Ehrlich got smoked. The price of every one of the metals had declined. In the 1960s, 50 out of every 100,000 global citizens died annually from famine; by the 1990s, that number was 2.6…”

The military has not been deployed AS military, instead they are logistical support for law enforcement. Is it any wonder – any wonder at all – why the border remains uncontrolled? He also gave Mexico a whole YEAR to stop the invasion at their southern border! He’s not using trade leverage to make Mexico do so. And with all the billionaires down there I’m sure they can find the funds if only some trade leverage was exerted in the first place.

Plus the military can quickly erect hundreds of tent cities on our border if need be to temporarily house invaders rather than release them to the interior.

Build but not actually stop invasion and illegals are moved in right in front of the miltary. Well, the big, bad threat of sending military to the border is a joke. When it comes to illegals crossing, the border is a gunfree zone for law enforcement and military and many get escorted to processing by those in uniform. Military. War. Invasion. Shoot to kill upon entry.

You know, I’m really happy to see her get a comeuppance.

But I also wonder if there’s a bit of hyperbole here.

Was she “hauled off to jail”?

Or simply “processed” and then released?

I am fine with the latter -as that alone is probably enough to scare some of her sense of entitlement out.

Yet I can’t help but wonder about all the “hauled off to jail” talk. Because, most times, these people are just processed and released. The “jail talk” comes across to me as “virtue signaling opportunities” for “our side” more than actual happenstance.

Could be wrong… but I like to keep my ear open and not fall into the “drink some koolaid on our side” trap.

Good point, its a common expression used often by people who have little actual experience with the criminal justice system.Generally (and there are exceptions) jail is NOT used for punishment. Jail is where they put you, till they decide what theycarecgoing to DO with you.

Its a ‘temporary’ holding facility. If you are released on “O.R.” own recognisance, meaning you have a job, residence, etc. and your crime isn’t major felony, you may only be in “jail” long enough to process and release.

PRISON is where you GENERALLY go, after conviction, for PUNISHMENT.

Why use tax payer $ to hold some girl who destroyed a sign? She’ll be released, after processing, go to trial later, if guilty pay a fine AND restitution, and keep her job so she can pay the fine.

No one gets a year’s community service for stealing a political sign. They get a ticket equivalent to shoplifting, a fine equaling the sign’s replacement value and a notation on their record. It’s a misdemeanor, not a felony.

Get real. It’s poor decision making, not an act of war.

There is a factor in the future demise of the Democrats that will be decisive but not yet mentioned much in the MSM.
The unfunded public employee pensions problem is very, very big and it’s not going away without a big hurt to a lot of liberals.
California has well over $100 Billion that’s not covered.

If pension liabilities are funded as they occur, as they should be, the system can work.
Unfortunately, the politicians that have granted the public employees the huge salaries and benefits to ensure their political loyalty always had more rewarding uses for that funding.
(Just for reference, we have a 2nd grade teacher in my town who makes $155K, most of our police are $120K+ and a relative of mine makes $400K+ in education.)

There have been a few attempts in the past to bring the issue towards resolution but the unions and the other left wing sycophants bring out their “rental” protestors carrying signs claiming it’s an attempt to “steal from the mouths of police widows and their children” and the public swallows it.

There is a limit to how much you can tax the people under your control, even in California.
The sales tax and DMV fees are already among the highest (Some may remember when Californians recalled a Governor that re-raised DMV fees after they were lowered).
Property taxes are high on properties that already appraised high.
People and business are already leaving because of taxes.

At some point, it will be dealt with, either a huge tax increase (that will drive more taxpayers away). Unlikely.
Or they’re going to have to tell one hell of a lot of people that their pension will be 15 cents on the dollar.
They already tried “Fund a little/Cut a little” and they know that’s not going to do it.
They’ve made public pensions “untouchable” in the California constitution so someone is going to have to write bill to change it and the political fight between the loonies with the ensuing fallout will be huge.
I think there’s going to be a lot of angry liberals whose anger is going to be directed at the Dem Pols who have no way out.

I hope I’m still here to see it.

New York’s public pensions are also protected under the state’s Constitution, but Gov Cuomo made a recent play to reopen it, during a rolling window that appears every couple of decades.

He tried to reopen the state Constitution, otensibly to remove pensions from convicted felons, but the union strong didn’t buy it. Of course, once open, he could have had a field day rolling back any and all public pensions, as was his fervent wish.

As much as I despise the greed and graft of certain public unions, it angered me more to give Cuomo one more dime of taxpayer funds to waste on his illlegal alien sanctuary cities. So that is the ONLY reason I voted against clawing back pensions from our public servants, many of whom subscribe to all this open border nonsense themselves.

I want our sanctuary cities to wither on the vine. I had read that the Paris Climate Accord had funded some CA pensions. How is that even possible?!

Now, for the first time in many years, I actually look forward to the passing of our bloated school budgets this month. I want to savor the faces on these clueless PTA moms, when they no longer have SALT tax breaks to shield their own pocketbooks from unnecessary tax increases that fund obnoxious teacher salaries and benefits packages that will haunt us to the grave.

If anybody in authority is reading this, how about getting out ahead of the wildfire arsonists this year? Have teams ready to deploy to monitor suspicious activity in areas where the worst fires are likely to occur, then get them out there as soon as the “red flag warnings” go up. That’s the cue for the arsonists to spring into action. How big of a win would it be to catch them in the act and prosecute them?

Instead of doing that, here in California they are teaching people to be ready to abandon their homes on a moment’s notice whenever the arsonists decide to burn up their town. We know it’s going to happen, it’s just a matter of where and when and how often.

Would arial/satellite surveillance be more effective than boots on the ground? Maybe do both?

Waiting until after the fire is futile. All evidence is destroyed and they always blame the utility company. Nobody is brought to justice and we all end up paying through higher bills.

There were very strong winds just ahead of both the North and South California big fires last year if memory serves me right. But then those fires may have been prevented had your idiotic liberal governor not vetoed the unanimously passed bill to cut down the foliage under the rural power lines.

Two years ago, a punk teenager threw some fireworks in the tinder dry forest in northern Oregon and caused a huge forest fire that took a long time to get under control. He was caught, convicted and fined, but good luck squeezing blood out of that turnip. So even when the arsonists are caught, they end up not paying for their crimes.

Last summer a fire got started in our neighborhood during a sundowner. It was caused by a blown transformer. The embers whipped by the winds were terrifying. Good catch from Joe DiGenova. Comey briefed Trump on the most salacious parts of the Steele dossier (not that it was financed by the Clinton campaign) on January 6. The pretext was that the media had the story, and it was about to come out. Of course, Clapper worked for CNN now, and they needed a hook.

Now Baker says he advised Comey against this because of the optics. Also, Comey didn’t tell Trump he was under a counterintelligence investigation.

In fact, he lied about it. That’s because he met with Obama, Biden, Yates and Rice the day before in the Oval Office. Obama ordered Comey to blackmail Trump. Comey thinks he will be protected, but he’s looking at jail time.

I sure hope and pray so, God gave us Trump to lead our nation, I worry about the Left taking over all of western civilization. It’s a hard fight that seems like their totalitarianism is winning. If we could just get a hold of education, we could change a generation.

What the heck is DeVos doing anyway? I just read today the Transgender’s agenda for K-12. We can’t all home-school. I hear they are inserting SJW stuff into religious schools, too. And now this “Equality Act”, eight GOP signed it. How in the world do we stop this? I know POTUS can veto but what comes after him? Zombie Commie Marxists everywhere and they are coming after our children.

        https://thefederalist.com/2019/05/15/gender-inclusive-puberty-latest-myth-peddled-trans-activists/

“5 Crazy Things Trans Activists Want Your Kids Taught About Gender Identity

If the so-called Equality Act becomes federal law, we can expect gender-inclusive puberty education to be taught in every public school in the country, under the guise of protecting trans students from discrimination. Even if the act fails, however, gender-inclusive puberty education won’t vanish: Activists already have embarked on classroom, district, and state efforts to bring fake science into classrooms quite openly, creating “queer- and trans-inclusive curriculum and classroom[s].”

They are leveraging the political power of big-time endorsers to pressure school districts into adopting this approach. Gender Spectrum cleverly promotes its document not as a “curriculum” (which typically requires approval) but as a set of “principles” that any teacher can use to transform existing health curricula into an LGBTQ-friendly experience.”

Even in my smaller conservative district, we got some crazy libs apparently, and there was a big push at city council last November for them to create an anti-discrimination special protection of LGBT ordinance! Council is going to “think about it”. I don’t know of any harassment of gays around here, it’s the Gay Gestapo again.

Matthew 6 King James Version (KJV)

6 Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.

2 Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

3 But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:

4 That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.

5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

Came across this little excerpt tonight, wish I could find the whole thing, but it is eerily spot on for today. We are, indeed, being taken over by Communists, if we didn’t know it already. Half of Antifa carries the Commie signs around, “World Workers Party”, etc. The Commies have been at it for a long time, playing the long game, planting themselves everywhere, and now they are showing themselves and trying to take over all of us.

The difference between the Marxist socialists and the national socialists were that Marxists preached international government – workers of the world unite – while the national socialists preached their own racial superiority. The Marxists are insidious, because they infiltrate every country they want to topple, turning its people against themselves, using Alinsky-style rules to subvert the establishment. In power, the Marxists are just as brutal. It is enough to expose them for what they are: Marxists and their fellow travelers and their useful idiots.

Thanks Kaco for that reminder. I suspect that the only people who study Communism today are sympathetic to it, like Nellie Ohr with her “terror and excitement” for Stalinism, the faculty weeding out any blunt critics.

As to economics, it was Marx who named Capitalism as the existential threat to workers, and we let them define the terms of debate. “Capitalism” nowhere appears in our founding documents. As if Americans worship Mammon. I prefer to think of it as Marxism vs the blessings of liberty, one of which is free markets – free from unnecessary government, free from frauds, monopolists and manipulators.

More Deadly Than War – The Communist Revolution in America
“In spite of the widespread belief that Communism is dead, this lecture given in 1968 is far from outdated. Communism has changed its name to Social Democracy but continues to be a dynamic revolutionary force around the world. Drawing upon Marxist revolutionary textbooks, Mr. Griffin shows that there are two kinds of revolution: violent and non-violent. The non-violent stage is accomplished in the name of democracy, and that is where most of the action is happening in America today.”

The Grand Design – A Lecture by G. Edward Griffin
“This presentation details the hidden plan that shapes U.S. foreign policy. Many people believe that U.S. foreign policy lacks consistency, or that American leaders have been bungling the job. Mr. Griffin documents the fact that, not only is there a Grand Design to U.S. foreign policy, but that it has been the dominant force behind every major decision since the end of World War II. That goal has been to disarm the United States and submerge it into world government. Mr. Griffin presents the arguments that are used to justify this agenda and then shows the flaws in those arguments. This lecture was filmed in 1968, but the passage of time has only served to highlight the accuracy of the program’s conclusions and predictions. It is not possible to understand the peace movement or current disarmament measures without familiarity with the thesis presented here.”

CHINA MEDIASurprise Attack: CCTV6 Unexpectedly Airs Anti-American Movies as China-US Trade War Intensifies “They have no new anti-American films, so they’re showing us the old ones instead

“CTV 6, the movie channel of China’s main state television broadcaster, has gone trending on Chinese social media today for changing its schedule and playing three anti-American movies for three days in a row. Some suggest the selection for the movies is no coincidence, and that it’s sending out a clear anti-US message while the trade war is heating up. The three movies are the Korean war movies Heroic Sons and Daughters (英雄儿女, 1964), Battle on Shangganling Mountain (上甘岭, 1954), and Surprise Attack (奇袭, 1960), airing from May 17-19 during prime time at 20:15”

The Constitution does not name the Federal Bureau of Investigation, with its unelected boss, as a branch of government. The FBI is part of the DOJ, under control of the executive branch. The FBI conducts counterintelligence but has no mandate to spy on domestic political campaigns.

To avoid repetition of that debacle, the FBI should be headed by someone who went to the FBI Academy, rose through the ranks, and bagged some real bad guys. For all but the willfully blind, Christopher Wray was a Clinton coup clan protector right from the start.

Basically they decided he was not a she when he broke 9 records… They made a distinction between physiological sex v identification….

Schools should do the same thing. Identifying as a female is not being a physiological female. Most people know the difference. *sighs… from the article:

However, RAW Powerlifting Federation have now decided to take the titles off the American athlete, in a decision that could have huge ramifications for transgender athletes.

The president of the Federation, Paul Bossi, told Mail Online that Gregory could not have been considered a female when she broke the records.

“It was revealed that this female lifter was actually a male in the process of becoming a Transgender female,” Bossi said.

“Our rules, and the basis of separating genders for competition, are based on physiological classification rather than identification.

Humans are to be blended into one amorphous, androgynous blob, ripped from the arms of nurturing mothers and fathers and devoid of traditional family roles and bonds, with no sense of community.

Marxist “Pop” culture has already succeeded in destroying familial unity by pitting women against their men, men against their women and everybody against their own offspring.

It is pitiful how easily we fall into their traps. Some of the comments I read here are truly disheartening, so many wounded souls out there lacking in self-awareness and empathy for their fellow man.

Tech trivia. When you delete a file on a hard drive, you only delete the directory pointing to where it resides. It remains there to be recovered unless/until overwritten. Bleachbit and similar software actively overwrite the file/entire hard drive to all zeros. Makes the file unrecoverable.
iOS for Mac has an option for this when ‘emptying the trash’ called ‘secure delete’.

Actually cleaning up the swamp takes some time. The simple fact the government was taking fines and DOJ settlements from big corporations and giving them to progressive groups instead of the victims caused problems. This led to a lot of the public protests used to generate news. I don’t see Antifa running around any more, nor Black lives matters. Correct me if I’m wrong, but they magically disappeared as the new administration cut off this type of “community activity funding” and the funds dried up after about a year. You would have to credit that to Trump, Mulvaney and Sessions for cutting that crap out. The outrage industry lost it foot soldiers because they didn’t have the money to keep their recruiters and logistics, all done with our money. If Trump is a dictator and racist as the media portrayed they should be running around with 10x the intensity then under Obama and now they are pretty much gone except a few nut-jobs. Now all the protests are gone.

Remember Dem’s can’t do anything without our money -rule one. Shut off the funding to the “asylum charities” and then number of refugees would plummet.

If he doesn’t like charter schools, I wonder how he likes homeschooling parents bringing up, taking care of and education their children themselves.

Sometimes I think our nation’s children have been abandoned to the public commons, becoming victim of the become commons mentality. Since public school is free more and more people chose that option and they expect more and more from the public school. After all, its “free” and they (school system & teachers) are “supposed” to do that (insert any number of things a child is supposed to be taught).

I see public schools now teachings ethics, morals, character, shoe tying, personal grooming, manners, and any number of things that schools (and anyone taking care of & overseeing children for 8 hrs a day, 9 months a year, 12+ yrs of their lives) ought to reinforce but children have Much beyond academics that ought to be taught by parents in the home v. relegating to government run institutions.

Those FEW wouldn’t teach them what they need to know if they were going to public school EITHER. The problem is, most parents are too busy with work/life to understand how truly indoctrinated their kids are becoming until well after they can have an affect. They trust the school. First mistake. The kids’ teacher is nice. She might also be a Communist with a hidden agenda. (Most of them are doing what they can with the curriculum provided, but if you get one your child really admires, they can have all too great an influence in areas that might not have occurred to you.)

My hope is you just forgot the /sarc after your comment, or I’m am not getting some intended humor from it. We were a home school family from 1997-2014 in three different Florida counties, and I cannot think of a single family in all those years who even resembles that description.

Homeschooling also is a way of protecting your children from bullying and sexual harassment by gangsters or people who are mean. Before considering me a snowflake for that desire to protect, look up what happens to public school students in the Memphis public school system. If my child received a serious head injury or other bruising at home, I’d be investigated. If it happens at school it gets covered up.

Then there is the South Carolina child who was rammed into a bookcase recently, by a violent child in her classroom, and died. Her district is claiming that the deceased child had a congenital issue that caused her death, and that being rammed into the bookcase wasn’t what killed her. As a parent that wouldn’t comfort me

                • Wondering999, quite a lot of my friends have grandchildren who are home schooled.

And 95% of them say that the reason for home schooling was bullying.

A very small percentage is because the academic standards are too low, most of the families are fed up with the brutal psychological and psychical treatment that the kids suffered from daily.

Home schooling was difficult to arrange because so many families rely on two paychecks now days but more and more parents are turning to it than I had realized.

They are utilizing part time employment and grand parents as teachers.

Anything to get the children out of public schools.

I heard Joe DiGenova tell Judge Jeanine James Comey tried to blackmail Trump with the filth in the “dossier.” Where would Comey get the idea to blackmail Donald Trump? It came directly out of the mouth of Hillary Clinton. Hillary and Bill Clinton have been successfully blackmailing people all of their adult lives. Remember all of those missing FBI files found in the Clinton White House?

Silly me, I was under the impression that OUR Border Patrol was suppose to protect our border.

Not to see to the comfort and safety of illegal aliens that thrust themselves upon American taxpayers.

Our Border Patrol should be way past worrying about where they will place these invaders and needs to start letting our country know that they are understaffed and very, very overwhelmed to the point that thousands of illegals are being released into our country every day.

        The Border Patrol is useless.

        We have no southern border.

It is wide open and controlled by the drug cartels.
