IPSOS Poll: Sleepy 32%, Crazy 14%, Spank Me 7%, How 7%…

Reuters/Ipsos national polling shows there are only four or five viable Democrat candidates in the race.  Biden and Bernie lead, and everyone else is way far behind.

With this level of inability to gain traction, if there isn’t another walk-on ‘chosen’ candidate, the 2020 primary is going to be a complete mess. [Poll pdf here]

(Via Reuters) […] The poll released on Wednesday found 29% of Democrats and independents said they would vote for Biden in the state nominating contests that begin next year. That is up from 24% who said so in a poll that ran in late April, days before Biden announced his bid.

[…] Biden, 76, remains in the strongest position for the top of the ticket despite questions about his age and centrist positions. He also has faced criticism over his unwanted touching of women and his treatment of law professor Anita Hill three decades ago during Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas’ confirmation hearing.

The monthly survey showed 29% of women who identify as Democrats and independents said they backed Biden, up 4 points from last month.

And among registered Democrats, those who supported other candidates still listed Biden as a top alternative if their choice dropped out of the race, according to the poll.

“That means that there is not a significant anti-Biden block of voters split between the other candidates,” said Chris Jackson, a polling expert at Ipsos.  (read more)

Today is the first time I’ve dug into polling data… and things are seriously goofy on the DNC club side of the 2020 election.  What’s really surprising is the lack of support for anyone other than Bernie or Biden.

Statistically, barring some unpredictable event, however the polling data aligns on July 1st, 2019 through August 1st, 2019, will be the exact same line-up outcome when the first 2020 primary is held seven months later.  It won’t change much (if at all) between August 1st 2019, and the 2020 Iowa caucus.

The DNC has a LOW-ENERGY problem, and a lack of authenticity problem, and they know it.   It’s a hot mess.

  1. Yes, it’s going to be the most laugh-inducing fuster cluck of the century as the candidates stumble over one another trying to prove to the low info democrat base that hate Trump – and by extension – American success more than their opponent.

    Pass the popcorn.

At the 1968 Democrat convention, the protesters actually tried to nominate a PIG, from the floor of the convention.
A dead pig, IIRC, complete with apple in its mouth. Ah,,,those were the days, my friend!

And, I have been predicting a REAL goid chance 2020 convention is going to make ’68 look like a walk in the park.

Are the bernie bros/AOC wing REALLY going to take getting screwed, by the old guard, yet again?

I watched the 2016 Democrat convention, and the ONLY thing that kept the lid in, BARELY, was “We don’t want a repeat of ’68! Your guys antics guaranteed Nixon won! Blow up the Convention, and you give Trump a victory!”

Well, “Trump” won anyway, and DEMOCRAT pundits are already agreeing they can’t beat “Trump” at the ballot box (and so must impeach).

So what, exactly is,going to keep the upstarts from doing what they really WANTED to do in 2016, and burning down the Convention hall?

      Answer; Not a damn thing!

Hi ho, hi ho, its over the cliff they go!

Among Millennials, Trump soars — and Bernie Sanders craters

Here’s some news that will never see the front page of the New York Times:

President Trump is soaring among older Millennials, according to a poll from Zogby, of all places. And that unexpected report from the left-leaning pollster just happens to coincide with the nosedive that Trump’s socialist challenger, Bernie Sanders, has taken among youth in a separate Morning Consult poll.
    According to the Daily Mail:

President Donald Trump’s job approval rating surpassed the half way mark in a Zogby Analytics poll published Tuesday.
In the poll, Trump earned 51 per cent approval from likely voters and 48 per cent disapproval – 2 per cent say they are unsure.
Among younger millennials, those between 18-29, Trump received 51 per cent approval, but among older millennial voters, those between 25-35-years-old, 53 per cent approval of Trump’s job as president.

If nobody runs against Trump in the GOP primary then those of us in states where we can cross over and vote in the Dem primary can totally f things up for them. We’ll know by late December how we should work this, which candidates each state should vote for. We literally could force a situation where there is no clear Dem primary winner prior to the convention so they have to duke it out there. Hahahah. Please everyone join me in this plan. We can assign a different loser Dem candidate to each state.

Good plan except I think its guaranteed PDJT will have primary challengers. In addition, there will be 3rd party candidates up the wazoo.
And, these candidates will get far more coverage from corporate media.

Its a splitter strategy. The goal in 2020, is NOT to get elected, its to prevent PDJT’s reelection, and thats fundamentally different.

So, its going to be a different kind of a campaign, and election than we have seen, at least in our lifetimes.

  39. justlizzyp says:

My sense is that the Dems/ MSM are so desperate for ANYONE but Trump to win in 2020 that they are pushing the candidate that has polled the best since 2016. If that candidate was ‘Ham Sandwich’ they’d be pushing Ham. NOBODY is listening to the ridiculous, dated, irrelevant and incoherent crap coming out of Joe’s mouth. Polling Republicans, who are most likely to pick Joe out of the clown car because he’s the least whacko, is how they create more media buzz which encourages more Dems to jump on the bandwagon. They’re going for the self fulfilling prophecy. Biden could belch the alphabet during a stump speech and they would write about how fired up the crowd was and isn’t he dreamy blah blah blah. Leave open the possibility that some of this chaos is planned. Because of rule changes brought about by the Clinton-Bernie feud at the last convention, the Dem superdelegates (party establishment) will not be permitted to vote on the first ballot at the convention unless the nomination isn’t in dispute. It’s likely with so many candidates, none of them arrive with enough delegates to win on the first ballot.

Enter the superdelegates on the 2nd ballot to be the king (or queen) makers. Hell, they could even go outside the convention and find a “unity” candidate.

OK. Let’s get real. This is lining up just like the 2016 Republican field as to the “trend” that insurgents were 65-70% of the field while the establishment had a total 30%. But nowhere in the insurgents is a experienced “star” like Trump. What we have here is an inter-sectional race to be the VP running mate. So let’s have fun with the rankings:
In first place is Harris, the 1/2 black 1/2 white and all female (as attested by Hiz Honor Willy Brown, and especially good at the horizontal mamba (need that Hispanic flavor))
Next would have been Warren, but Faux native american blond shiksa are so 60’s.
The upscale version ideally would be a black lesbian, but alas, we’ll have to make due with Butti-gig (Is that his stage name?)
Yet, if 59 year old “bachelor” Booker would be a little more gender neutral (or is that properly gender confused?), he’d have the edge being a black male (at least half like Harris or Obama)
Following would be the three other white women starting at the darkest hair down to the blond.
Now we get back to males: the Hispanic Castro would slide in next followed by the Asian Yang.
Poor old white Governors used to be desirable due to their experience and broad appeal (nah)
None really excite the base so after hyphenating his Logo to Bi-Den to show his solidarity with the gender rainbow (LGBTQetc), and then going by Jose (hey, Beto worked for another Irish man – though that’s what Joe’s father claimed, some genealogists say it’s from Boton, French [sir name for a button maker). Ah, plagiarism in ethnicity, now where have I seen that before?). So Bi-den goes with the “Sarah Palin” hail-Mary of his buddy John Mc-Cain (son of Cain, was not Able to pull his off), still it’s — AOC. And the young crowd swoons!
Poor Rich Socialist Bernie an also run again, unless he can pick an experienced establishment type — come on down Hillary!!!!!!
