Sunday April 21st – Open Thread

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.

For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

      I really enjoyed watching Fox & Friends Sunday this morning when they played the old B&W video of Kate Smith singing that venerable song. I’m guessing they chose her version as an in-your-face slap to the loony liberals who are protesting her music. 🙂

    A.O.C. is now advocating “V.A. medical benefits for all” !
    Guess she realized “Medicare for all” has too much resistance, so she’s now pushing this B.S.

    Hopefully, this video will come into play.

    It is an example of Gaelic Psalm singing of the Western Islands and Highlands of Scotland accompanied by images from the Book of Kells.

    This video is from YT. I do not know which Psalm is being sung or who is singing it.

      If I am not mistaken, President Trump’s mother was from the Isle of Lewis. Perhaps she and her ancestors sang in this manner.

    Palm Sunday in the Orthodox Christian Church

    On this day, the Sunday of Palms, we celebrate the radiant and glorious Feast of the Entry of our Lord Jesus Christ into Jerusalem.

    Dismissal Hymn
    In confirming the common Resurrection, O Christ God, Thou didst raise up Lazarus from the dead before Thy Passion. Wherefore we also, like the children, bearing the symbols of victory, cry to Thee, the Vanquisher of death: Hosanna in the highest; blessed is He that cometh in the Name of the Lord.

    Another Dismissal Hymn
    As by baptism we were buried with Thee, O Christ our God, so by Thy Resurrection we were deemed worthy of immortal life; and praising Thee, we cry: Hosanna in the highest; blessed is He that cometh in the Name of the Lord.

    Being borne upon a throne in Heaven, and upon a colt on the earth, O Christ God, Thou didst accept the praise of the Angels and the laudation of the children as they cried to Thee: Blessed is He that cometh to recall Adam.

      Hopefully, this video will show.

      It is about two minutes long and shows scenes from Lazarus Saturday and Palm Sunday with the Troparion (Hymn) in Serbian chant. The words in English are above.

    Please join me in prayer.

    lilbirdee12’s prayer:

    Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.

    Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.

    Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.

    Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
    Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.

    We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
    Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.

    In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.

  14. A prayer for Justice Kavanaugh and Col. Flynn:

    Prayer to St. Michael

    St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle;
    be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
    May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
    and do you, O prince of the heavenly host,
    by the power of God,
    thrust into hell Satan and the other evil spirits
    who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

    In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.
