Florida Governor Ron DeSantis Officially Suspends Broward Sheriff Scott Israel – Replacement Gregory Tony From Coral Springs…

New Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has officially suspended Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel today over his handling of the February 2018 shooting massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

Governor Desantis flew to Fort Lauderdale three days after taking office to remove Israel and he has appointed former police sergeant Greg Tony, 40, to serve as acting sheriff. Sheriff Tony worked for Coral Springs police for 12 years before leaving in 2016. He is the first African-American to serve as Broward’s sheriff.

(Via AP) […] DeSantis’ office issued a statement saying, “Sheriff Israel has repeatedly failed and has demonstrated a pattern of poor leadership. He failed to protect Floridians and visitors during the tragic Fort Lauderdale International Airport shooting in 2017. He failed in his duties to keep our families and children safe during the devastating shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on February 14, 2018. These incidents demonstrate Sheriff’s Israel’s repeated incompetence and neglect of duty.”

The statement added, “The families of the victims deserve accountability.”

Minutes after DeSantis’ announcement, Israel said he would fight the suspension.

“There was no wrongdoing on my part. I served the county honorably,” he said. (read more)

Excellent, Gov. DeSantis. I am so proud. I’m also proud on Andrew Pollack. He has been relentless in his pursuit of justice (the right way) for Meadow’s death and her classmates.

I sincerely hope this is truly the beginning of destroying the corruption in Broward Co. that you, Sundance, have worked tirelessly for also. Bravo for all of you!

Mr. Pollack is a hero. He has my deepest respect and my deepest sympathy for the loss of Meadow. He is a good guy, like our President, who doesn’t deserve the grief heaped on him by the likes of David Hogg and the rest of the unAmericans. This upcoming anniversary is going to be tough for so many parents!

Sheriff Israel is a coward, and the men he had working for him at the school when the shooting was going on are also cowards. Took deputies from a nearby town to put a stop to the massacre.

I love that the policemen that rushed past the cowardly deputies into the school to save the kids were from Coral Springs, and it was one of their long serving alumni that was just appointed to replace the cowardly “Sheriff” Israel. A great Karmic message.

Makes one wonder what Sheriff Israel and his department did to earn those big paychecks. Seems like theft of taxpayer funds for no work done.

Obviously on the day of the shooting, allowing 17 students to be killed without resistance was serving the county honorably.

Who couldn’t see that to be true?

    • That was my first thought too when I heard that the new sheriff is from Coral Springs. Just the name Coral Springs made me feel good about the appointment. If he’s from Coral Springs PD, then he has likely internalized the culture of responsibility, protection and service so evident in CSPD during the Parkland shooting and its aftermath. It’s good to hear that Broward county gets a new sheriff who seems well-equipped to bring a change of department culture with him.

DeSantis appointed him to fill out the current term. All he can do. It’s an elected position.

The Broward County Sheriff’s Department contracts with most of the municipalities in the county to do their municipal police work as well as the county’s. Lots of patronage goodies, highly politicized. Parkland is a small but exclusive millionaire community in the northeast corner. People not quite rich enough to live on the beach, buy there. Coral Springs is a large, upper-class suburb located between Ft Lauderdale and Parkland and has its own police force. When the shooting erupted they were the closest first-responders other than Sheriff Deputies. My kids attended Marjory-Stoneman in the ’90s.

When the newly appointed Sheriff’s term expires, the heavily Dem ‘voters’ of Broward will elect another politico as Sheriff …just like they re-elected the corrupt/incompetent Elections Supervisor 3 times despite repeated election snafus. Broward/Ft Lauderdale is Detroit 20 years ago …the Dem machine owns it lock, stock, and barrel. DWS owns the Dem machine.

Justice prevails. Now on to the crimes individuals committed against America by interfering with a Presidential campaign, spying on American citizens, threatening witnesses, leaking confidential information, trafficking in classified intel, conspiring to unseat a President through a Special Counsel appointed without any identified crime and based on a dirty dossier authored by the opposition party, FISA abuses, questionable actions on the FISC itself, destroying evidence, stonewalling Congressional subpoenas and interviews, lying under oath, need we go on?

If I was a Floridian or a Broward County resident I would be very happy that Ron De Santis is now governor.

The fathers of the school shooting victims and the wife of one of the adults killed that spoke today are incredible people and Americans. The indescribable pain they felt from losing a loved one did not break them. It emboldened them to take action and correct the abysmal policies and leadership in Broward County that contributed to the massacre.

New Sheriff Tony’s credentials are impressive and his presentation was very well done. Ensuring that the competent and dedicated members within his police force were recognized favorably was a fair and wise decision. Hopefully, he will also not be reluctant to purge any officers that might not be up to the new standards.

Nothing on Drudge about the Top Coward of Broward getting fired by the Governor. Whatfinger.com however, does have a link up. I guess Matt Drudge is still too preabsorbed with himself to worry about reporting important news.

I wish Acting Sheriff Tony the best of luck in straightening out the BCSO. He seems like a very honorable and competent man. He’s got his work cut out for him. Israel had a lot of his fat and lazy good old boys working for him. Hopefully they’ll be gone and soon.

Not to mention, the TAXPAYERS of Broward County (yours truly) deserve BETTER than this little twerp. BSO has the best of everything, equipment, (choppers, boats, bicycles, motorcycles, SWAT vehicles, etc., etc.), but BSO lets “minor crimes” like home break-ins, etc. go by the wayside, and actually tell people “it’s not worth it to pursue”. I pay for POLICING (and live in a city, unlike Coral Springs, which had the foresight to keep its own police force instead of contracting with the rent-a-cop BSO).

BSO’s motus operandi for YEARS has been to seek the “glamor stuff”…..yes I know we all remember Israel with the Mazerati in BSO livery…..but when it comes to law enforcement, they’ve also been conspicuously absent for years. Just like at Stoneman Douglas HS that fateful day.

Good Riddance to Bad Rubbish! And I hope Runcie is next up on the to-be-axed list.
