House Judiciary Committee Plans to Subpoena McCabe Memos Outlined in New York Times Reporting….

The House Judiciary Committee, chaired by Bob Goodlatte, tweeted today their intention to immediately subpoena the memos written by fired Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe.   The memos were part of an article presented by the New York Times citing evidence of Rod Rosenstein making statements about President Trump.

The House Judiciary Committee announced on Friday that it intends to subpoena memos from former acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe detailing reported comments made by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein in which he proposed secretly taping conversations with President Trump and initiating a process to remove the president by invoking the 25th Amendment.  (read more)

However, the subpoena alone that’s not the revelation-angle within the story. There’s a bigger story as noted by judiciary committee Representative Jim Jordan: “Mr. Rosenstein, give Congress the McCabe memos that we asked for in July and all the other documents we’ve requested so we can all judge for ourselves.”

The bigger revelation here is how someone, some unknown FBI officials, kept the McCabe  memos from congress and subsequently from a previous internal INSD investigation of McCabe.

According to the New York Times the memos were given to Special Counsel Robert Mueller, and a copy kept inside the FBI.  This friendly custody process ultimately kept those memos from Inspector General Michael Horowitz who wrote an entire 2018 IG report on McCabe without having that 2017 documentary evidence for citation.

Why is this important?

Well, consider this as an example how someone, some faceless nameless group inside the system, is manipulating the outcomes of the IG investigation and subsequent IG reporting by withholding evidence that is adverse to their interests.  It is virtually guaranteed those same unnamed and unknown officials are the same people behind the unnecessary redactions within non-classified Lisa Page and Peter Strzok personal text messages.

The OIG can only report on facets of the investigation he is able to reach.  If the system within the investigated agency is withholding information, well, clearly we can see how that would impact the investigative outcome and Inspector General report.

That troubling reality circles directly back to President Trump today saying he will hold-back on his declassification directive toward DOJ/FBI documents, pending the use of those documents by the IG in the current FISA abuse probe.  In essence, President Trump is holding the DOJ and FBI accountable to an honest assessment of the internal corruption.

If IG Horowitz -using the declassified evidence- does not outline the institutional corruption and how the FISA process was weaponized for political benefit, President Trump can proceed to declassify the underlying documents to the public and expose the corrupt manipulation of more than just the DOJ and FBI; Trump will be exposing corruption within the Office of the Inspector General.  That’s the leverage.

What’s up with the GOP Congressional leadership? We’ve seen Goodlatte, Nunes and a few others attempting to hold the DOJ and FBI accountable for years now, and they never get the support of Ryan, Scalise, McCarthy. McConnell, Thune, and the rest of the House and Senate Republican leadership team.

It’s clear that Rosenstein is a crook. By their continued protection of him the GOP leadership makes it appear that they approve of his crookedness.

And they have the chutzpa to ask for votes and money, when they can’t even get records, with a president willing to help them.

Chugk Grassley begs feinstein for the accusatory ford letter, rather than issuing a subpoena. bizarre.

Has anyone else noticed how Rosenstein even looks like a weasel? Its out of character for him to be anything else…..

Point of view of an Independent.

I think, everyone is aware that the Mueller team is being used to hide information. And, that the usual process for subpoena’s is to request them, and if the request is not completely ignored. Then they may show up severely redacted, someday.

I don’t think at this point, that it matters allot who is keeping the memos from the public when we have a President doing it for them. Expecting Mr. Rosenstein to give Congress or the American people any document that matters to the Deep State is at best wishful thinking. I will instead believe in the efforts of Judicial Watch.

As for some unknown FBI officials, kept the McCabe memos from congress and subsequently from a previous internal INSD investigation of McCabe. Well it’s not a mystery after watching Project Veritas.

The problem for me is the that the Democrats are unacceptable and the Promised Republican platform related to security is not being delivered. Republicans, through the efforts of the President are delivering on the financial end but this is not a replacement for the security of our friends and family.

In other words our POTUS has just TRUMPED the FBI,DOJ, and OIG, he is saying, give me an honest assessment of the corruption within DOJ/FBI/FISA or the s–t will hit the fan when I declassify and expose everything

  5. Lactantius says:

President Donald J. Trump has mastered the art of swimming with sharks. Inspector General Michael Horowitz wrote a report which gave sufficient evidence of causation for a prosecutor to gear up and probe deeply into the FBI and the DOJ. IG Horowitz muted his language to probable cause rather than express a conclusion. Typical bureaucratic boilerplate. But, the DOJ and the FBI did not take the probable cause and run with it, unless U.S. Attorney John Huber is quietly busy with a Grand Jury.

At any time, President Donald J. Trump can walk into the Department of Justice and tell Rod Rosenstein and Christopher Wray that he, POTUS, wants to see the original documents of his choice. Check mate. He can not be denied. If he takes Vice President Pence with him, the 25th Amendment is by-passed, it would be clear that Vice President Pence was not on board with any 25th Amendment scheme. (The 25th Amendment requires the vice president and a majority of the cabinet to determine that President Donald J. Trump is “unable to discharge the powers and duties” of his office,)

By what power does the DOJ and the FBI refuse to comply with POTUS? None. Art. II, §3 of the Constitution states: “he, shall take Care that the Laws be faithfullly executed….” Noncompliance would immediately devolve to individuals who will have to be named and exposed for insubordination. Martial law is the imposition of direct military control of normal civilian functions of government. Without question, we would have historic fireworks if President Donald J. Trump placed the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation under martial law, but the military courts system is instantly available to carry out the laws of the United States in agencies of the United States which refuse to cooperate with the Constitution and the established rule of law. (The Posse Comitatus Act of 1878 would be excluded by definition within the act: “Enforcement of federal law at the discretion of the President of the Untied States.)

This is not arm chair drool cup prognosticating. The Constitution accounts for insubordination. Naturally, mature statesmen would prefer to “straighten things out” without nuking important executive agencies with the Constitution. Before anything approaching martial law were to take place a “Come to POTUS” meeting would find the wherewithal to produce the documents.

“Our safety, our liberty, depends upon preserving the Constitution of the United States as our fathers made it inviolate. The people of the United States are the rightful masters of both Congress and the courts, not to overthrow the Constitution, but to overthrow the men who pervert the Constitution.” — Abraham Lincoln

      The article’s comments are interesting. Frequent dismay is given for this exposure of Rod’s seditious remarks because they;
      – are alleged from un-named sources (so unusual for NYT)
      – give justification to Trump to fire RR, thereby leaving Mueller defenceless (lord have mercy)
      – are simply the reasonable sorts of blurtings any sensible human might express in poor Roddy’s position
But … there are also those who are describing, however tentatively, the early stages of the outrage most readers of this site now have on steady slow boil. Some confess to not sleeping. No doubt a few are sh#^ting their pants. They just don’t understand yet that those are the adorable first steps of waking the hell up.

@Liam Song: There are two other individuals who called our president begging him not to declassify – Dearlove/UK and Downer/AU. These are the two the president mentioned and of course the BBC and Guardian mentioned in their articles.

Don’t believe that these memos are not in the OIG’s hands. Admiral (ret) Rogers and other white hats that includes our 470-strong Military Intelligence.

Also remember that Jeff Sessions also operates under the FISA and aided by Watnik.

I think it is right about the additional leverage. As I stated yesterday, I think there was a counter investigation into the “small group” that began right after Trump took office. This wasn’t just the spying on American citizens, it was a coup attempt of a sitting president with the involvement of foreign powers. When looked at in that light, all the perplexing things Trump did make sense. They kept their enemies close and had them lead them to where all the documents and bodies are buried. All of those executive orders set up how they were going to make this thing go down. Now it’s just drip, drip, drip before the election to get out the vote and to educate the American people about this attempted overthrow of the United States Government.

Interesting about Mueller. I had a similar thought about Mueller early on because everything he’s doing seems like fruit of the poison tree, in which case all the evidence he collects on Trump family and friends’ taxes or bad business dealings becomes tainted, no?
But the consensus seemed to be he is a dirty cop. So I have no idea.

At this point, I’m not really sure it matters, because I’m convinced they (not sure which branch of govt, “they” is) began a counter-investigation into illegal spying on American citizens and a conspiracy to unseat a duly elected president.

If that is the case, then I think they have been spying on those who did the spying and they are going to take them down when they are ready.

They have also been careful about not just cleaning house, throwing all the details to the public at one time and causing panic or even civil unrest. If we consider the sizeable number of “retirements” in Congress and corporate America, that’s where you’ll see the AG’S work. They don’t discuss their investigations. It might explain why RR looks like a scared rabbit most of the time. Also, there have been a LOT of smuggling rings broken up (AG’s work he doesn’t discuss). He’s also just told the Immig.judges they can’t deny deportation based on their own “feelings” – only on the law. He’s crackin’ heads. Our President has very specific goals, he promised us ~ one is removing illegals. It’s a big, Damn job. Breaking up the human trafficking rings is huge for him (especially child trafficking). There was an investigative journalist working on an expose of BIG NAME abusers who had a survivor willing to come forward ~ but, she was murdered, of course. Most Americans don’t know (and don’t want to know) about the trafficking of children globally to pedophiles in positions of power. Some of which is also connected to satanic, ritual murder ~ the pedovores. The msm sneers at the tinfoil hat conspiracy, but the truth will come out ~ just like the truth of a coup attempt is coming out now. The members of the Gang of 8 who plotted with the FBI/DOJ in this attempt will be brought to justice. But the proof must be plain to see by every American, or questions will undermine our purpose. Americans must turn off their indoctrination/programming devices (fake news on TV and internet (except Fox in the evening), and follow our President’s Twitter and alternative news sites that support him. May God bless America, our President, and every patriot who STANDS to MAGA.

Question – did Strzok etc move all incriminating FBI documents to Mueller team so that FBI could truthfully state they have turned over everything they have?

  11. Amy2 says:

Who can make sense of RR?
    1. Rosenstein says don’t believe everything you read (about him).
    2. Rosenstein’s signature is on the last FISA
    3. Rosenstein says his dealings with the president no basis to invoke the 25th
    4. Rosenstein roadblocks Congressional requests for docs
    5. Rosenstein gives Mueller full reign in scope of SC
    6. Rosenstein is arrogant in Congressional hearings and “will not be extorted.”

Personally, I think he is trying to cover for EVERYONE and protect a DOJ (that he is hoping to run one day with the title) that no longer should be saved. He needs to go so the rest of the weasels have no protection.

    • Liam Song says:

This highly unusual piece was the NYT trying to goad Trump into firing RR to justify dragging out and trying to add lustre to the tarnished obstruction narrative. This given that the collusion fairy-tale is now not more than a bad smell, and the release of the FISA docs et al would otherwise be the only thing on. Clear desperation as the merry band of thieves and liars jostles to avoid being this cycle’s sacrificial lamb.
Trump is not biting, but has instead seemed to delay the FISA release with feigned concern, but while actually throwing a spotlight on Rosey’s claim that the release might hurt the Russia probe (oh the horror), and as cali pointed out to also highlight that somehow this business of releasing high level American intelligence tom foolery, has UK and Ozzie officials all aflutter. (Now what in the world could that possibly mean? Wink wink).
All this serves to point these elements of corruption out to the public just now starting to put the pieces together. Just wait until James Baker and Loretta Lynch get in on the mud slinging. What a show, All those with front row seats should be advised to slip on your slickers.
