Wednesday July 26th – Open Thread

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.

For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

Particularly egregious in that actual academic studies have found that higher levels of “diversity” produce LESS social cohesion, trust, and various other healthy societal traits.

Schumer just took the Senate floor a few minutes ago. Called what at least today’s floor action is, a farce. Said that there wasn’t even a bill to look at. Therefore, there would be no further amendments offered by the Demonrats. Then, he left the floor.

    Howdy my fellow Treepers!

More than 40 years ago my husband and I got our first cat. Since that time we have had small furry children continuously, up until 5 years ago when our Maine Coon died at 20 years old. “Harbor” was as good of an old boy as you could ever get. . .

When Harbor died we made the difficult decision to not get another cat until the house we were living in at the time was put on the market and sold, since so many kids these days are allergic to everything — including cats.

The house sold and we moved 2 years ago. After all that time we became set in our ways and stagnant about the possibility of losing our hearts to another animal. We were pet sitting for friends and that seemed good. We did not want to go out and buy a cat, but wanted to wait for God’s timing, since half of the cats we have had over the years came to us due to the impending death of their owners. Sorry if that sounds morbid.

Three days ago a friend called and asked if we wanted two cats. The owner is very ill and no longer able to care for her “kids.” She was very broken up not knowing what would happen to them, and whether they would or could remain together as brother and sister — even though they are not literally brother and sister. She was making herself even more sick worrying about her cats.

So you know the rest of the story — we are now the proud parents of two cats!

We picked our new owners yesterday and as of this morning I am sure we adopted invisible cats. They have been hiding so well that we have to go on major hide and seek detail to find them. Hopefully they will realize soon that we are two laid back old people who want nothing more than to be their staff for the rest of their or our lives and come out of hiding. We don’t want to force them to be with us, so we’ll see how soon they become visible again.

Our two new kitties (although not kittens at all) are both Ragdolls weighing in at approximately 16 pounds each. We think we just adopted Lions and not Cats!

We will keep in touch with their first Mommy and send her photos and letters, hoping she feels better knowing two crazy cat people are taking care of her babies. The only thing we won’t tell her is we are going to change their names. Last night we thought we might change their names to Donald and Melania. Waddaya think?

How good and kind of you. Blessing to your new family, it is a relief to this sick lady and she will be comforted by news and pictures of them. But don’t change their names, the kitties are used to them and as they are older cats not new tiny kittens,it will just make it harder to transition to thier new home and new owners.
I hope you can share a picture of them some day.
As owners of many strays and pound purries over forty years I totally get the decision to get new cats, but it is hard not to have a cat about the home. They make the home nice despite the litter box, claw marks, fuury furniture, they give us such good company.
      Congradulations. 😉

Sorry I’m a bit late reading this. First of all, you did a wonderful thing taking in two kitties who’ve been buddies for a long time. People who say cats don’t relate well to people are dead wrong; cats cam have deep feelings of attachment for their people! That said, getting strange cats adjusted to a strange house can be a real challenge for them. You didn’t mention whether or not your have other cats or dogs in your house. If you do, it’s a really good idea to put your newcomers in a back bedroom or bathroom for a few days to allow then to get used to the other animals smell . . . and vice versa.

Now you’re probably not going to do this but I’ll mention it anyway—whatever you do **do not** let your new cats go outside. They need to be kept inside for an extended time until they are completely socialized into their new household. When people adopt older kitties and then put them outside expecting them to stay around, they more often than not will leave and try to make it back to their old house. This is obviously something that is dangerous and something you don’t want.

Wonderful, Raven, that you were able to keep 2 brethren kitties together as well as alleviate worry for the owner who could no longer keep them. Just such a wonderful outcome, a situation that came your way that was far, far better than simply seeking out a kitty to acquire. God’s hand, I have to believe.

    lilbirdee12’s prayer:

Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.

Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.

Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.

Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.

We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.

In Jesus name, we pray. Amen

        hi companions,
this coming Monday, the 31st, I will be having a procedure to place a stent in one of my subclavian arteries.
I planned to put this on as a prayer request, but there is an outpouring for the friend who lost his baby grandchild, and there was no way I wished to intrude on that wonderful flood of support. so beautiful.
I am asking for prayer that this procedure will be a success, as it is being attempted so as to avoid a complex surgery.
        love you all

Dearest Heavenly Father, God of mercy, God of love,

We come before you tonight and give You thanks for Your great Name. We praise You and are amazed that You, Maker of all things, find anything of worth in our sinful flesh.

Thank You, Abba, for hearing us when we call and for calling us to come to You with all of our needs, no matter how small, no matter how large.

Great Physician, healer of our souls, we humbly ask for Your guidance, Your protection, Your leading in every inch, every moment, every movement, every event surrounding the procedure Piper will have on Monday. Go before every person who will be involved before, during and after the surgery and cause them to be blessings to Piper in ways only You can make possible. Be in the surgeon’s hands, giving them skill beyond their reasoning. Be in the nurse’s care, giving them comfort to share beyond their knowledge. Be in the space where Piper will be and cause it to be clean and free of harmful bacteria. Be in Piper’s artery, in Piper’s body, but most of all be in Piper’s soul — causing peace, sweet peace, to fall over Piper, knowing full well You are in control of everything that happens and will be there, from start to finish, holding Piper close.

Please, Holy Spirit of the One True God, prompt us to remain faithful as the day arrives and beyond to pray without ceasing for Your good will to fall upon Piper in mighty ways.

We pray all this, Almighty God, in the Name of Your precious Son, Jesus, the Christ.

Prayers for your safe procedure piper. I know you’re concerned; but this has become a more “common” procedure, with very few problems nowadays.

Please let us know you’re okay after it’s over.

This is part of a longer speech linked below…excellent as usual from Dinesh D’Souza:

D’Souza shocks audience: Nazis learned eugenics from American progressives

“This week, Dinesh D’Souza addressed a packed crowd at Cornerstone Church in San Antonio to talk about the fight against abortion in America today and what it means to be living under the most most pro-life president of our lifetime.”
