Friday June 23rd – Open Thread

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.

For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

A perfect storm: Incredible time lapse video captures a lightning storm at precisely the same time the Milky Way is briefly and perfectly illuminated
    22 June 2017

Videographer Martien Janssen captures millions of stars moving above storm

Rare sight was filmed in Siargo, the Philippines, where conditions were just right

There is minimal light pollution in the area and so the Milky Way can be shot best

Astounding footage has captured a dramatic lightening storm as it thundered beneath a starry Milky Way.

Through this incredible time-lapse footage, a talented videographer was able to document the lightning storm frantically dancing beneath the Milky Way galaxy.

In Martien Janssen’s aptly-titled video, ‘The Perfect Storm,’ millions of stars can be seen moving across the sky while the lightning on the horizon illuminates the lower half of the frame.

The extremely rare footage was shot in Siargo, the Philippines, and in order to capture the phenomenon in such clarity, Martien, from Utrecht, the Netherlands, had to be present during the perfect conditions.

‘Pizzagate’ shooter sentenced: What to know about the Comet Ping Pong conspiracies
    June 22, 2017

The man who walked into Comet Ping Pong, a Washington, D.C., pizza shop, armed with an AR-15 assault weapon and a revolver to investigate internet rumors was sentenced to four years in prison Thursday.

Edgar Maddison Welch’s sentence is less than the 4 1/2 years prosecutors had requested, but much more than the 1 1/2 years Welch’s lawyers had pushed for.

Here’s a look at what led Welch to travel to the pizzeria and discharge his weapon.

My question to this FL Maquis guy is – Does this container ship just happen upon the US Fitzgerald with the equipment and expertise to hack/jam/disable a USN warship’s sophisticated electronics and engines?

Does the USN not have any back-up communication method to call and report this?

Of course, if hacking a USN ship is that easy, the USN certainly won’t reveal it.

But if it did happen, other evildoers already know.

    • georgiafl says:

Experienced guys, Matthew Martin, Bill McCandless and Ian Moone rejected and refuted FL Maquis theories in the comments.

    • Lucille says:

Undoubtedly this “accident” is suspicious sounding. The supposed disablement of the Fitzgerald via a device which takes out ship communications is dubious, in my non-U.S. Navy opinion, but perhaps not impossible.

Questions. If an unknown state actor has such a device/technology which can take out entire electronic systems on an advanced destroyer, why was the crew not roused into emergency mode via non-electronic communication at the point when the system was disabled? Instead it appears that everyone sleeping stayed in his bunk–including the CO–until the commercial ship made it back to attempt finishing her off via ramming an hour later. Wouldn’t even a partial communications disablement have put everyone on an emergency stance?

Also, if you have spent considerable time on a ship, wouldn’t you know when the ship has come to a halt? If a ship is dead in the water, a naval crewman’s mind/body would immediately be on the alert as he has become used to sleeping with motors, lights, etc. in full use. Even as an amateur and not a professional seaman in the years when I was on a sail boat quite a lot, I could feel when we were at anchor rather than sailing or using the motor.

And…assuming, as apparently this unknown “investigator” does, that the aircraft systems were not affected by the power outage, why did not the pilots notify the Navy via aircraft communications that the ship was “dead in the water”? Doesn’t make sense.

Though terrorism has not been ruled out by the Navy, the further question is…what is going to be done about it? If there is technology which can completely disable a ship, why are we not at war this moment with such a state actor using it on every U.S. ship around the world? Surely there wasn’t just the one experimental method which cannot be immediately reproduced.

“When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.”

I would like to thank all of the Treepers for their support and kindness and all of the songs that were shared to help me for Ponytail Kim’s funeral. I’ve been running in circles it seems trying to get everything done for tomorrow and all of the phone calls. I made 23 different calls to friends yesterday alone, and I didn’t even have half of the list. Sure, not all answered, but the ones that did wanted to share a story. I had learned quite a bit and know I will learn far more tomorrow.

Some of the ladies booted me out the way and demanded I go home and sleep. They’ve got it covered they said, and so I did. They’re amazing. Kim’s ladies friends are first class with big, beautiful hearts.

    An update:
We will not be having a funeral or a viewing. He will be cremated as his wishes. I had the absolute worse experience in the funeral home than I ever had or thought could ever happen. I did not have my hand shook upon meeting the man who was to do the paperwork, not once throughout did he offer his condolences and he couldn’t get me out fast enough. (There is a lot more to it and I will share another day or make a wordpress thingamajigger for all to read if interested.). I literally went to the bathroom to see if my hair was sticking up or if something was on my face or clothes even though I had checked a mirror before I went in to see if my hair was alright etc. I even dressed appropriately. Black slacks on a hot day was not comfortable at all.

So, that helped with the decision. A lot of Kim’s friends expressed to me that Kim would not want a funeral much less a viewing. I had a lot of please don’t do this.

I know Kim didn’t go to funerals and I knew who much he didn’t like them. My husband told me why should everyone get all dressed up on a hot day to sit in a hot building with no air conditioning and be all sad and solemn when we can all gather and celebrate his life. Kim would not want it and would be just as miserable.

So, we are having a Celebration of Life on his birthday, Friday, June 23rd. He was born in 1950. Too young to die, but old enough to be my Dad. My Dad and him actually got along real well too. All fishing and hunting stories.

Through word of mouth with cab drivers and so many others passing the word of the party. It is going to be YUUGE! I bet more than a 100 people easy.

I’ve got music lined up so we can play all of the music that was offered here. I even have a mic so everyone can hear the stories we are going to pass around.

We have so much food and alcohol. I bought $200 and saved a $100 on coupons and sales. We told everyone to bring their own. The last count was at least two cab drivers offering their services with discounts.

I don’t really drink but a glass of wine here and there, but I did buy a bottle for me. I don’t even know if I will open it, but it will be there if I change my mind. At least I know I will have a cab, or my husband will pick me up after work if it’s not too late. The party starts at two pm, and we have no idea when it will end.

I would’ve liked fireworks, but it doesn’t get dark where we live in the Interior of Alaska. I do know we have a traditional blow out party for our dear Friend. He is very well known and respected in our town and surrounding areas. He’s touched a great deal of lives. He’s lived here since ’82/83.

Thank you for all of your support and help. Your kind words have carried me through these past days, they really have. In a couple of days when things have calmed down I would like to thank each one individually.
Please be well, and know all of you have made a world of difference in my life.

This sounds like a wonderful thing to do. I am sure it will turn out the way you want it to. My brother also didn’t want a funeral. So, everything was done exactly the way he wanted. He was cremated… his favorite Hawaiian shirt, shorts and sandals. There was a memorial service on a beach in a covered picnic area. We all wore our brightest Florida/Hawaiian clothes and after a very short statement by a pastor who was a friend of his, each person who wanted to stood up and said whatever they wanted to. It was very uplifting to hear all the people say such nice things about my brother who was a very sweet, caring man. Afterwards, the family and a few very close friends went out on a boat and put his ashes in the Gulf. It was perfect.

About the artist and his home.

    The Poetry of Giverny

With a painter’s eye, French impressionist painter Claude Monet often combined flowers of like colors and allowed them to grow without constraint across the sprawling grounds of his home in Giverny, France.

As much a gardener as he was an artist, Monet landscaped the elaborate vignettes of flowers, water, and trees surrounding his iconic Normandy farmhouse, pictured above, with the passionate intent of capturing them on canvas.

My work has been posting these to all employees, and I thought I would share. It does show how to disable this for different browsers.

In order to protect yourself from such websites collecting your data without your consent, you should consider disabling auto-fill form feature, which is turned on by default, in your browser, password manager or extension settings.

At the beginning this year, we also warned you about the Auto-fill feature, which automatically fills out web form based on data you have previously entered in similar fields but can be misused by attackers hiding fields (out of sight) in the web form and stealing your personal information without your knowledge.

You know, I think after this first term for Trump with his base and the so called “monster vote” behind him, in 2020, I think with a weak Libertarian candidate and a split Democratic Party, I think a lot of those who voted for Gary Johnson… looking at the numbers of total votes per state… I really think a very large percentage of the Johnson vote will vote for Trump in 2020. Which will flip a few more blue states red. Having 4 years to button down a lot of the voting fraud that took place in the 2016 election and tightening down there of illegals voting, and 4 years of the media revealing their one sided bias (which didn’t catch on to some of the baby boomers who don’t get much news from social media and only network TV), Trump should carry an extra 5-6 more states than he did in 2016.

Throughout most of my adult life, I believed J&J represented the gold standard for OTC meds and their other products…. well – this dispels that notion for me. From Natural News:

Johnson & Johnson caught in another scandal, forced to pay $33 million settlement over recalled nonprescription meds
    Thursday, June 22, 2017

(Natural News) Johnson & Johnson is set to dole out up to $33 million in settlement with 42 states over allegations that a subsidiary of the pharmaceutical drug giant sold nonprescription medicines that did not pass federal quality standards. The settlement agreement required the company to pay the amount, which would then be distributed to the District of Columbia and the 42 states that filed the case. The states that that did not participate in the case include Alabama, Georgia, Iowa, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Oregon, Utah, and Wyoming.

The agreement has also required Johnson & Johnson’s McNeil Consumer Healthcare unit to follow appropriate procedures in addressing any manufacturing issues with its nonprescription drugs. The company was also barred from advertising on its website any products that were recalled within the past year. However, the company took the deal in a more positive light, stating that it was pleased to have finally reached a settlement with the states. The company has also stressed that the recalls were precautionary in measure. As part of the agreement, McNeil-PPC did not admit to any wrongdoing.

Does anyone remember a post with a link to a very long article about Comey? This is the way it started ….. If anyone knows where this originated, I’d appreciate link. Thanks.
    Better than most mystery novels!!!

    YOU WILL NOT BELIEVE THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don’t know who wrote this but it was obviously someone on the inside who knows everything and how the system works. It explains what has been happening in Washington. It is a long but fascinating read. With Comey it gives a perspective on who he is and where he is coming from.

There are very few crime/mystery novels that approach this true story for compelling drama, intrigue and brinkmanship (with the nation in the balance).

Don’t believe the fake-media story that Trump made a mistake or huge gaffe by firing Comey.

Don’t believe the media narrative from the left that it was an attempt to silence Comey from some investigation into Trump.

Don’t believe the RINO narrative that Comey is a good guy just trying to do his job in terrible circumstances and the timing was bad.

Don’t believe the lie that Comey was admired and respected by career FBI investigators and agents.

Don’t believe the lie that Trump’s “tweets” are not professional and have no strategic purpose. His tweets are weaponized and deadly.

James Comey is a poisonous snake of the highest order… a deep-water Swamp Denizen who has been highly paid to deliberately provide cover for high-level corruption by the Clintons and Obama. He is has been central to trying to destroy the Trump campaign and then the Trump administration from the start. He is as dirty as they come in DC. He had highest-level cover (the FBI no less) and was deep into an effort to eliminate Trump. Trump had to move hard, fast, and at exactly the right time to cut the head off the snake without getting bitten by the snake or being finished by the other swamp denizens.

Begin by noticing how the President fired Comey when Comey was 3,000 miles away from his office, that Comey had no inkling he was being cut, that all his files, computers, and everything in his office were seized by his boss Sessions and the justice department. This was not a violation of protocol, it was tactical. Notice how Prez Trump compartmentalized the strike and did not inform any of his White House “staff” to prevent leaks. Notice how he emasculated Comey and the swamp denizens by letting them know in a tweet that the Attorney General got information (surveillance “tapes” from the seizure of Comey’s office) to let Comey and his handlers know that Trump’s DOJ has the goods on them. This was a brilliant, strategic and totally imperative move at exactly the right time against horrible, evil and corrupt powers infesting our government.
