Tuesday May 16th – Open Thread

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.

For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

On our very first wedding anniversary — having agreed ahead of time to not spend a lot on gifts because we were saving for a house — DH bought me one long-stem red rose. And every year since, the number of roses he gives me on our anniversary equals the number of years we’ve been married. Yep, he’s a sweetie!

Earlier in life, DH would arrange for the roses to be delivered to our house (while I was still home with the children) or to wherever I was working (after the kids were grown). But once he retired, he started picking them up at the shoppe himself.

This year, there was a somewhat younger man parked in a space not far from the shoppe, just sitting quietly and minding his own business. But when he saw DH carrying 46 roses, the man jumped out of his car and shouted:

WHAT. THE. HELL. DID. YOU. DO. ???

it’s ironic obama administration mirror itself in the movie 2012, they hoard taxes to save only themselves and their chosen ones. those that were insiders that develop guilty feelings or outsiders close to the truth of impending disaster were mysteriously killed or blackmailed. just replace impending disaster with uni party shady dealings!

WHAT???? How in the world is this guy out and about, in a car with ammunition capable of making bombs?

      Snip from the article:
Bomb squad personnel called to the scene noted that the large amount of ammunition and electronic devices could be used for bomb-making, the complaint said.

Abdullah N. Alrifahe, 27, of Minneapolis, was charged with a gross misdemeanor for carrying a pistol in public without a permit. In December, he was convicted of the same offense….

I don’t agree with her on some things but I love Ms Paglia’s intellectual honesty. This article covers several topics including Hillary Clinton.

FTA: Misogyny played no significant role whatever in Hillary Clinton’s two defeats as a presidential candidate. This claim is such a crock! What a gross exploitation of feminism—in the service of an unaccomplished woman whose entire career was spent attached to her husband’s coat tails. Hillary was handed job after job but produced no tangible results in any of them—except of course for her destabilization of North Africa during her rocky tenure as secretary of state. And for all her lip service to women and children, what program serving their needs did Hillary ever conceive and promote? She routinely signed on to other people’s programs or legislative bills but spent the bulk of her time in fundraising and networking for her own personal ambitions. Beyond that, I fail to see how authentic feminism can ever be ascribed to a woman who turned a blind eye to the victims of her husband’s serial abuse and workplace seductions.

Very interesting Q&A, I found myself agreeing with many of her views,,, one I liked very much concerned Megyn Kelly.

The nation’s selection of presidential candidates should be treated as serious business—not as a platform for adolescent exhibitionism by the TV hosts. Hence when the very first question to Donald Trump, as posed by Kelly, was “You’ve called women you don’t like ‘fat pigs, dogs, slobs, and disgusting animals,” I thought it was grounds for Kelly’s instant termination from her job. The tenor of the entire national campaign, from that moment forward, was lowered by Kelly’s sloppy ad hominem crudity.

      Intellectual honest, exactly. Ty

Totally agree, getfit! Heard an interview or two lately with her. Camille Paglia, essentially is what was probably the original feminist movement before it radicalized.

Helping out at the polls today – It’s primary day, so if you missed it, hope you will take a moment and go vote.
While taking a break, here are some observations from the day:
    1. I love our older generation. Not only do they show up to vote, they come prepared.
    2. Those USMC, Army, Navy and other service caps were well-earned. When I could ask about their service, I learned so much. Amazing vets.
    3. Watch your local RNC committee. Sadly, I saw some nasty backstabbing, replicating what we see in Congress. There are RINOs in all the wrong places.
    4. More Rs than Ds showed up so far today. Just one example of many: It is remarkable to hear an 83 year old tell you about Seth Rich, about Hillary’s horrible health and crooked deeds, and about how great our President Trump is. Many of these folks may not be online, but THEY KNOW. And they tell their kids (the 50 and 60 year olds!).

May God bless this country. And our President Trump!

Oroville 15 May Update – Recovery

Maybe the superbly intelligent Maxine Waters can blame the Russians for the near disaster of dam failure…after all, the Russian River is only about 160 miles away from Oroville Dam. I bet if they dug deep enough they’d find President Trump’s transfer of all that classified material had something to do with the dam. Oroville is part of the system bringing water to Congresswoman Waters’ district. And her surname is…well, Waters….

    • andi lee says:

Lucille, l❤ve your sense of humor! 😁

I was really surprised to learn: 15 years appropriations for Oroville Dam maintenence was being funneled into assorted projects unrelated to the Oroville Dam or its maintenance.

With the wide-spread corruption in Fed gov, no surprise – it must also flow into some States.

A California Super-Rail project? A passenger train system that will never be built? Cannot recall the project that is the “Ca. money pit”.
Kind of like our TxDot super highway projects that dead-ends into a T. 🙂

    lilbirdee12’s prayer:

Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.

Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.

Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.

Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu. We pray for France, and for the safety of Marine Le Pen.

We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.

In Jesus name, we pray. Amen
