The media is downplaying, and in most cases ignoring, the extreme nature of the crisis currently going on in socialist Venezuela under the Maduro regime. Most of the cries for help are from people begging the international media to cover their plight.
Some of the video and photography are stunning as millions of people take to the streets to protest a collapsing economy and food shortages while being met with tanks, guns and rogue militias hired by the government.
Some of the targeted citizens appear chosen at random. Some of the citizens are also desperate and fighting back. Warning – These images are graphic and the video feeds are also alarming. However, the media are barely reporting on any of this, and unfortunately, it looks like things are getting worse:
CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) — At least 12 people were killed overnight following looting and violence in Venezuela’s capital amid a spiraling political crisis, authorities said Friday. […] Venezuelan social media was ablaze late into the night with grainy cellphone videos of light-armored vehicles plowing down dark streets to control pockets of protesters who set up burning barricades in several neighborhoods.
This woman’s cry for freedom is heartbreaking.
As this lady and her family was filming the armed official shooting in the street, he turned and shot at her in her home.
So much tear gas has been deployed people are fleeing their homes amid the confrontations. The local district medical units appear overwhelmed, and also fearful of being targeted.
This woman was shot in her home by either militia or Venezuelan guards.

Years ago back in the 70’s, I worked on an audit in Venezuela and was left with two lasting impressions. The locals were quite intelligent and resourceful, and there was a limited middle class. I presume the socialists were able to capitalize on that gap in prosperity and come to power. It’s unfortunate and I certainly hope the good people of Venezuela work through this tragedy. As Americans, we were treated extremely well by the those we worked with. The street was not quite the same. I remember our car being pelted with a papaya while riding to work one morning. No big deal, but it made their point. Regardless, we should support the people of Venezuela and not leave them stranded like Obama did regarding Iran’s potential uprising.

Venezuela has a lot of it.
The govt took it over and when the price of oil was at $100/br or higher, there was enough money to make things work.
But when oil prices went down…and stayed down…there wasn’t enough money from oil to keep it all going.

Actually, even when oil was up, it was obvious that Venezuela was on a fast ride down to hell. Even then, there were shortages and lack of infrastructure and services funding, b/c Chavez, then Maduro were raiding the treasury for their own purposes, including making the Venezuelan LEOs and armed forces into their personal forces. In neighboring countries, Chavez was long ago known as “Chavezito” which was translated to me by, e.g., Panamanian locals as a “nasty little prick.” The word became a general purpose insult, like Xerox became a word for copies. It is probably wrong to assert that the Venezuelans repeatedly voted for these goons–that assumes that the elections are not completely manipulated and fraudulent, though I think we can be well assured they are.

But the food producers could not afford to sell at the prices that the govt imposed.
So the grocery shelves gradually went bare.
The govt has seized control of everything…and rations out the food, after the Upper Class is taken care of.
An…’upper class’?
In a Socialist Country?
Yes. Those who work for the govt, those who are loyal to their leader, these people are the upper class.

The food control failure and popular uprising was when “Chilexit” happened in Santiago. Thankfully, their military was warned of a decapitation plot, and struck first. Had that not happened, Chile would have gone down the Castro road.
Allegedly the CIA was behind warning the Chilean military, because of widespread wiretapping. If that’s true, then – in my opinion – they were heroes, and decades of relentless abuse they took from the leftists was still worth it. Had the Marxist takeover of Chile been completed, the abuses of the people would have dwarfed anything Pinochet did, IMO. As it was, Marxist crimes before the coup were severe – you just don’t hear about them, “because Enemedia”.
The commies learned a lot from Chile, and that’s why STARTING their takeover in the Venezuelan military was so ingenious.
We were very fortunate that Trump was able to evict the commies here. I’m still not fully sure how he did it. As Jarrett said, she really didn’t think Trump was going to win. Yeah. I’ll bet. I hope someday she’s “persuaded” into giving up exactly WHY our commies were so confident that Hillary would win. You can bet it’s not something you’ll read about in the failing New York Times.
As I watch this script playing out, once again, in Venezuela, and realize these mindless Marx bots still want to do that here, it just angers me.

I need to dispute your suggestion that Trump has evicted the “commies”. If he had indeed accomplished such a monumental task, the unemployment rate in DC would be about 90% and housing prices would be plummeting. The Communists in DC have all gone to ground and will be hunkered down until the next Marxist wunderkind comes along. The only way Trump will ever make a dent in the Communist occupation of our federal government is to truly return all federal activities back within Constitutional boundaries. I am still waiting for concrete evidence of his intent to do that.

Trump’s biggest job is to start the process and bring recognizable results to the people.

Parts of Europe were darlings of the socialist elite here, but to live up to their “ideals” they were forced to accept waves of immigrants who are destroying them. The bubbles are bursting. Cuba survived with help from Russia, and they didn’t import troublemakers from outside. And extreme poverty is still the rule. It is no coincidence that most of the 100+million murders committed by communists have been by starvation. Communist dysfunction automatically creates famine which the totalitarians always then use as a tool to wipe out those who resist their power.
That is what is happening in Venezuela now and I doubt that there will be any way for the opposition to stop it. Maduro just needs to keep what little food there is for his various armies until everyone else is dead.
How much can the people fight? They are already starving and any bits of food they are able to capture will only delay death for a few people for a little while.
Feeding a nation takes massive decentralized coordination and all of that is long gone. There is nothing left but the dying.

And yet my heart is breaking for Venezuela. All I can do is pray that karma is coming for the people responsible.

My 11 year old daughter came home with a project from her 5th grade class.
Make a presentation of your favorite hero on this list.
A problem arose. 90% of the class chose MLK jr to be their hero.
2/3 of the class are Marine’s kids, with no distinct racial majority.
She told me Trump is a bad man that doesn’t like minority children and he is going to send police to take hispanic kids out of school and send them away.
Because of a divorce, I get my lovely daughter about 2 months a year.
The public schools get her 8 hours a day.
I will not give up.
1966 is when to 2 teacher unions merged to create the union they have today.
Since that day, this union started indoctrinated our children.
Any American 65 and under, who went to American public schools, have subjected to social engineering to be socialists.
An unsustainable form of government that will murder their own to keep it going.

2 words, Public education. That is why we have 33% of our nation stupidly voting for socialism. We need to take education back from the hard core lefties via vouchers for all K-12. Free the kids from indoctrination at the government school monopolies.
Maybe it is just me, but I am having a really hard time feeling too sorry for these people in Venezuela. They VOTED for this. They VOTED to destroy their constitution and give all that power to Chavez and his ilk. If there were any chickens left in that country, they have come home to roost, so to speak.

THIS!, is what BO, bErNiE, Shill, etc, would have Our Society reduced to, if not for the Second Amendment!
Yet most people here do not even Realize it.
I bought my AR, because I truly Believed, that soon after the Election of 2008 America would suffer a similar fate. I also added a Slidefire buttstock, that allows a Firing rate of 50 rds, in Under 4.5 seconds. I knew I could not stop a Rogue, Unconstitutional Government alone.
But I also Believed, in my heart and mind, that at Least 3% of my Compatriots would stand against such a Treasonous Government.
I don’t believe Our Armed Forces and LE would allow it either.
In the late eighties, we decided to take, what turned out to be our only trip out of country.
We narrowed it down to Venezuela or Antiqua.
The Internet wasn’t available, so we relied on our Travel Agency.
They recommended Antigua, because of risk of Crime in Venezuella.
The exchange rate in Venezuella in 1986, was 7to1usd. This was Long before Chavez I think.
Now, it is Ten to One!
A dozen eggs, was 100 V dollars, months ago.
That’s a Thousand Dollar carton of eggs Now!
WE chose Antigua, because it was 8to1usd.
History has Proven, that Socialism does not work.
Thank God, for the Constitution,
and the Bill of Rights!
I Do Pray, and Thank him Every Day, for his Blessing me, with being Born in the USA!
I now also Pray for Venezuela…

Venezuelan Europeans in particular are some of the most racist people on the planet. I visited Venezuela some 40 years ago and the writing was already on the wall. Theirs was a “caste” society at the time and the standards of living between the two classes, the “aristocracy” and the rest was appalling.
Chavez, et al just replaced that failed “aristocracy” with theirs. And so go all the socialists, just another aristocracy with one difference, socialists are more violent, more brutal.

This is how Chavez snuck in, IMO. His military card offsetting suspicions, then acquiescence was powered by racial guilt. If anything, Venezuelans were more suspicious than we were with Obama. People gave Chavez too many chances at too many junctures, hoping for “healing”, but they were far more suspicious than we were of Obama.
And Chavez played the Bolivar card like a champ. Simple and dumb, yet brilliant.
The commies just get sneakier and sneakier. That’s why I keep my eyes out on the Democrats’ next crop of sneaker radicals.

Socialism is wonderful in theory, not so much when applied in reality. There can never be pure equality because someone has to be at the top of the food chain to run things & God didn’t make us all equal ability wise
The concept of socialism/communism has always & will always be fraudulent because you can’t remove nature &, more importantly, human nature from the equation
Humans are flawed by greed & temptation, which always leads to corruption & worse. The law of the jungle has always been in our DNA & the strongest will always prey on the weak
Having one centralized authority over an entire people & system will always result in corruption & extreme thievery at the top, until there’s nothing left to steal & the people are reduced to absolute poverty
You can’t remove that reality. It happens every time. Power corrupts because people hold power
The power elite (globalists) in America understand all this, & use the concept to lull the masses into the “cool revolutionary” mindset against “oppression” & “the man”. Through indoctrination & brainwashing, the masses in America believe our system, which was put in place to actually make things as equal as they can be for all, is the problem
The brainwashing is so deep no amount of history or present day “in your face” facts can sway them
Socialism/communism is simply the way globalists believe they can control the masses & with it, the worlds wealth
The stupidity of the average human being is what feeds it & keeps it going

The difference between this NYT report and Stefan Molyneaux’s report is night and day. The NYT says poor people have to deal with “shortages of food and medicine” . Makes it sound like you may only be able to buy broccoli but no green beans and corn. Or, you can get your insulin but they’re a little short on aspirin. The reality is bare grocery shelves and hospitals with anesthesia or running water. But wait, they did clarify that just seven people died and not eight, as was originally reported, at the end of the article, so it’s all good.
Disgusting reporting.

The time has come to shock the dying MSM into covering these atrocities: add Venezuela to the list of countries in the travel ban EO. Have a special press conference about it. Make it impossible to ignore.
The ties to Hamas and Hezbollah and the prior passport scandal are sufficient reason in the context of a failing government. The fact that Venezuela a majority Catholic country destroys the “Muslim ban” narrative. Indeed, as a minority religion, the Muslims in Venezuela would therefore be given priority refugee status.
Hence consider thoroughly vetting and accepting a few. Watch MSM heads explode everywhere while simultaneously obliterating a major plank on which the EO lawsuits are based.
In case this seems too politically motivated, my wife is from Colombia and we’ve watched this train wreck with sadness and disgust for a long time. The refugee crisis is appalling. The terrorism threat is real. Maybe adding Venezuela to the EO would finally cause the perception to change.

Remember: it was former president Jimmy Carter who validated, over and over again, the fraudulent Venezuelan elections as having been correctly and fairly conducted. Jimmy Carter was a democrat U.S. president. His current “humanitarian” activities are supported by funds from dictatorial muslim countries. As president, Carter denied support to the Shah of Iran and was largely responsible for the installation of the horrific muslim Iranian regime that has committed untold atrocities worldwide and is a main sponsor of international terrorism. That is what democrats have contributed to our nation and the world. Always ready to play for pay: Carter (AKA, Mr. American malaise), Clinton (AKA “I didn’t have sex with that woman” or Chinese money always welcome or my government is for sale), Obama (AKA lying traitor in chief). Need more proof?

From what I’ve read, the larger underclass used Chavez as the tool to rob the middle class.
Look at the situation today. A big problem facing the opposition is the large underclass still mostly supporting socialism, and marching in big counter-demonstrations of their own. From them are the militias being recruited and formed. There are defectors from the underclass joining the opposition, but critical mass evidently hasn’t happened yet. (Just a matter of time, prolly.)
“Michael Shifter, president of Inter-American Dialogue, said the country remained in stalemate, but it would be wrong to assume nothing has changed.

I am going to try and make this succinct and understandable as possible. Yesterday I was in the car and briefly turned on NPR. A young, chipper NPR woman was interviewing a Venezuelan woman who was explaining what was going on. The NPR woman seemed bemused and surprised by the turn of events in Venezuela and chirpily asked the woman what she thought the future held for her country and the woman replied that both short and medium term – nothing good would come of this and long term was something she could not see far enough ahead, but it was bleak. The NPR woman signed off happily. She then introduced a professor from NYU who is the head of Latin American Studies. She asked him very confusedly how things had come to this point in Venezuela; especially since Hugo Chavez had ridden to the rescue all those years ago. Well, the NYU man said, Hugo made a few mistakes, such as when he nationalized everything and just started handing out cash rather than “investing for the future.” (He had no problem with the nationalizing everything part at all.) And then, he continued, oil prices fell and poor old Maduro didn’t have the same amount of cash to throw around and well, that’s how all this happened. Oh, those pesky oil prices. Nothing about dictatorships etc. At this point, the radio station cut away because it is pledge week (naturally) and the new, well-modulated local moderator came on and said – “we just heard nine minutes of information on Venezuela – this is what you can expect to hear when you pledge, quality stories, and I have to say, I learned so much myself today as I was unaware of these problems in Venezuela! “ So there it is. They are clueless.

Not clueless. Their blindness is conditioned by ideology. They choose not to see the failure of their ways. Chavez failed with other people’s money, too. He simply died before it ran out. Lenin, Stalin, Gorby, Putin are all the same, it is other people’s money that sustains them. Pol Pot is where the rubber meets the road, fast forward to the killing fields or you must forcefully derail the crazy train.

This is horrifying to see. I do wonder though, people “voted” for Chavez and Maduro. Even if rigged, I wonder how many of the people protesting now voted or supported them in the early days. A case of, “one man, one vote, one time”? They are now reaping the harvest of their decision(s). The same would happen to the supporters of Bernie and Clinton, but they would have a tin ear until they actually are starving and in the streets and still would have no self reflection. And the folks who probably voted against Chavez/Maduro? They saw the writing on the wall early on and got out of big population centers. Found a place to grow things way out in the boonies and trying to keep their heads down. Myself? I have found about 12 acres, 30 miles from the nearest interstate and 30-40 miles from the nearest town of 30,000. Nearly 2 hours to the nearest “big” town. 1 million, about 3-4 hours away. 2 Ponds, greenhouse, barn, old time windmill, 2 wells, this year starting the garden, looking to get some goats, neighbors who help neighbors, etc.
