Wednesday April 19th – Open Thread

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.

For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

The devil is the ruler of this world,
And the worldly follow his evil ways.
They have his nature, rebel against God,
And work to deceive us every day.

Many evil spirits are in this world,
Trying to snare us with their many lies.
But we can know that they’re not from God,
Though they speak glibly and seem so wise.

If a spirit affirms Christ came in the flesh,
Then we know that spirit is from God.
If a spirit does not acknowledge Jesus,
      It’s a spirit of antichrist – a fraud.

Men of this world follow evil leaders,
Though their many lies and schemes are absurd.
We’ll listen only to our God of Truth,
Finding His will by searching His Word.

The evil spirits will tempt us with bribes,
Power, fame, riches – emeralds and pearls.
But we’ve overcome by our God within us,
Much greater than the one who is in the world.

Dora…when I was a little kid, my Uncle dropped me off at a home-made “mobile porta-potty”, then turned his tractor around to keep plowing his field.
When I re-opened the outhouse door, there was this BIG goose, who never liked me, ’cause I was an interloper, AND the goose would not let me off the platform!
I had to wait for my Uncle to return to my end of the field with only the outhouse door as protection from goose wings.
Ever since, I have had a great deal of respect for these fierce birds. They are afraid of nothing!

Friend of mine maintained a flock of geese because “they”re better than watchdogs”. The males are very protective. It seemed just looking at one of them was an act of agression that made the trip from my car door to my friend’s front door like running a gauntlet challenge. Great way to stay in shape – running from mad geese honking at you and trying to nip you in the buttox.

The rest is history, but history is still being written in real time.

We live in historic times, a time that will be considered a watershed provided only that Trump succeeds against the Opposition.

very detailed, well written and researched article on the war in Syria, mainly where it started from Damascus area and who all the different faction are and their sponsors. Very interesting. (all these m-e wars always seem to originate from the strict form of Islam and the Saudi influence, imho, the article tells the tale). Note it is long and detailed, but well worth reading.

Also on the border, hopefully a little bad publicity will light a fire under DHS Secretary John Kelly:

Officials Defy Trump’s Promises: 40 Miles of Border Ordered Unpatrolled

“Obama holdovers in the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agency are continuing with the same careless disregard in the Trump Administration that they did under former President Obama, according to Border Patrol agents.

“When Breitbart Texas asked multiple Border Patrol agents about motives for the manager leaving such a vast swath of border unpatrolled, the agents felt that it was twofold; they blamed previous Obama-era policies and they also believed that widespread corruption exists within the Havre Sector’s upper-management.

“Agent Judd said there must be accountability from the top down. “I believe Secretary Kelly’s constant praise of former Secretary Jeh Johnson is an endorsement of his open border policies. There are so many good managers in the Border Patrol, but when Secretary Kelly condones his predecessors failures, he opens the door for the bad managers to act like this …”

I came to the “Open Thread” today looking for some insight into the open 40 mile border debacle. Help!

        • nimrodman says:

Yeah, Janie, what ticks me off in this article is “Secretary Kelly’s constant praise of former Secretary Jeh Johnson”

Hey, Kelly – the time for diplomatic niceties about the former administration is DONE

… for example, Pres Trump’s necessary pretense / fiction that Obama politely and cooperatively handed over the reigns. Pres Trump had to mouth those compliments for appearance and the diplomacy our nation expects (and maybe same for lessers such as Kelly, that’s understandable).

But the time for that was JANUARY. For about 1 WEEK
          (factoring cabinet-appointment delays, of course).

After that it’s time to get down to bidness.

It’s now April and Kelly’s greater concerns should be the effectiveness of border-sealing and the morale of his troops (Border Patrol, etc). From this article, it sounds like morale ain’t so hot in this district office, nor is the troops’ assessment of their Secretary’s priorities.

Kelly needs a hotline to get whistle-blower tips up the chain and then send marching orders back down the chain with failure to comply subject to personnel action (findings of insubordination, probationary period applied, eventual path to dismissal or forced transfer to undesirable locales with poor schools, etc).

Time to fish or cut bait.

I take it personally, I got family on Border Patrol.

something amazing is going on and has been on going for a while now!

The chief of a Christian ministry that works underground because of its outreach into Muslim-dominant communities in the Middle East is reporting a startling claim – his rescue from Islamic “militants” by a pride of lions.

Pastor Paul Ciniraj is the director of Bibles for Mideast, which delivers Bibles, preaches the Gospel and plants house churches in the strife-torn region. He says, while Islam remains dominant, “thousands upon thousands of people now secretly believe in Jesus Christ as their Savior.”

yeah this is my Rep….. embarrassing.

A North Carolina representative is under fire after comparing Abraham Lincoln to Adolph Hitler and saying the Civil War was “unnecessary and unconstitutional.”

Rep. Larry Pittman made the controversial comments on Facebook, where he was arguing that North Carolina should ban gay marriage. “Get over it,” one commenter responded, referencing the Supreme Court’s ruling on same-sex marriage.

What’s more my wife was friends with Pittman’s daughter-in-law and we went to their wedding (that was before he was in Congress). He was an ass then and he’s still an ass. He showed up to the Trump rally (post election) that was in my neighborhood park just down the street. It was the same one that Bill Mitchell spoke at. He tried to bum a ride on the train…. no one listened to him. Some even turned their backs while he spoke. While Pittman was speaking I was standing near Bill and yelled “Drain the swamp!” Bill and a few others got a bit of a chuckle out of that….

uh….Lincoln was a constitution breaker and started an illegal war. he is NO hero, despite the years of attempts to put a halo on his head. Hitler…not so much….but 600,000 Americans died for his effort that would have not been necessary as all the rest of the world had stopped slaves, and they were outlawed in the US already as to new ones brought in…

So he single handedly turned 4 million illiterate, unskilled, unsocialized black people OUT INTO THE WORLD with no support for their lives… they were FREE. So how has that worked out for blacks nationwise….not the educated ones…they are a separate group toda.

        1. This makes no sense, unless I assume that “Joshua” is a racist. What does, “so how did that work out” mean – that they should have preferred to remain under slavery?
        2. Freed Blacks did well and have done well in many ways. However, there have been a lost of dastardly things done to the Black populace post-slavery. This includes the sharecropper system that, post-Civil War, kept morphing into greater unfairness.

Aaron Hernandez hangs himself in prison
    By Yaron Steinbuch April 19, 2017 | 6:47am | Updated

Former New England Patriots star Aaron Hernandez killed himself in his prison cell early Wednesday while serving a life sentence for a 2013 murder without the possibility of parole, authorities said.

Corrections officers found him at about 3:05 a.m. hanging by a bed sheet attached to a window at the Souza Baranowski Correctional Center in Shirley, Mass., where he tried to block his door by jamming it with various items, officials said.

do not rejoice over the liberal Murdoch kids forcing B. O’Reilly out of Fox. They are going to destroy the conservative Fox. lilbirdee12’s prayer:

Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.

Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.

Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You. We also pray for the safety of Marine Le Pen and France.

Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.

We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.

In Jesus name, we pray. Amen
