WikiLeaks Releases “Vault7” Details of CIA Data Intrusion, Monitoring, Tracking and Collection…

(Via WikiLeaks) Today, Tuesday 7 March 2017, WikiLeaks begins its new series of leaks on the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency. Code-named “Vault 7” by WikiLeaks, it is the largest ever publication of confidential documents on the agency.

The first full part of the series, “Year Zero”, comprises 8,761 documents and files from an isolated, high-security network situated inside the CIA’s Center for Cyber Intelligence in Langley, Virgina. It follows an introductory disclosure last month of CIA targeting French political parties and candidates in the lead up to the 2012 presidential election.

Recently, the CIA lost control of the majority of its hacking arsenal including malware, viruses, trojans, weaponized “zero day” exploits, malware remote control systems and associated documentation. This extraordinary collection, which amounts to more than several hundred million lines of code, gives its possessor the entire hacking capacity of the CIA. The archive appears to have been circulated among former U.S. government hackers and contractors in an unauthorized manner, one of whom has provided WikiLeaks with portions of the archive.

“Year Zero” introduces the scope and direction of the CIA’s global covert hacking program, its malware arsenal and dozens of “zero day” weaponized exploits against a wide range of U.S. and European company products, include Apple’s iPhone, Google’s Android and Microsoft’s Windows and even Samsung TVs, which are turned into covert microphones.

Since 2001 the CIA has gained political and budgetary preeminence over the U.S. National Security Agency (NSA). The CIA found itself building not just its now infamous drone fleet, but a very different type of covert, globe-spanning force — its own substantial fleet of hackers. The agency’s hacking division freed it from having to disclose its often controversial operations to the NSA (its primary bureaucratic rival) in order to draw on the NSA’s hacking capacities.

By the end of 2016, the CIA’s hacking division, which formally falls under the agency’s Center for Cyber Intelligence (CCI), had over 5000 registered users and had produced more than a thousand hacking systems, trojans, viruses, and other “weaponized” malware. Such is the scale of the CIA’s undertaking that by 2016, its hackers had utilized more code than that used to run Facebook. The CIA had created, in effect, its “own NSA” with even less accountability and without publicly answering the question as to whether such a massive budgetary spend on duplicating the capacities of a rival agency could be justified.

In a statement to WikiLeaks the source details policy questions that they say urgently need to be debated in public, including whether the CIA’s hacking capabilities exceed its mandated powers and the problem of public oversight of the agency. The source wishes to initiate a public debate about the security, creation, use, proliferation and democratic control of cyberweapons.  (continue reading for full details)

I hope all this information is not for naught because you know the MSM is NOT going to pay it any mind. Even Fox News is afraid to delve too much into it. How can we the citizens, the President and the non-corrupted politicians get this into the light and start getting arrests, firing, changes, etc? So many people’s hands are dirty, who knows how far this goes? Just yesterday I believe it was that McCain said that the Senate wasn’t going to investigate anything until Trump had proof. Now someone told me today they believe he and Graham are Democratic plants.
My head is spinning, but it us going to fall off its axis if nothing becomes of all this stuff and it’s politics as usual. Are the Dems just going to go about business as usual just like nothing happened?

I’ve posted extensively about this on the Treehouse. You can google the threads. Also on Twitter, because I was researching Wikileaks at the time.

Basically a theory that “Red Francis” resulted from action by the Podesta Group – a foreign influence lobbying firm headed by John Podesta’s brother Tony.

It starts with this Wikileaked response to a progressive Catholic friend of John Podesta asking for action in “modernizing” the Catholic Church by a kind of “Catholic Spring”, in analogy to the “Arab Spring”. Extremely ironic in retrospect, because the “Arab Spring” is now very visibly a CIA-assisted and directed creation, and not entirely spontaneous.

            https://wikileaks.org/podesta-emails/emailid/6293

You can also google on “catholic spring wikileaks” and get a ton of MSM publications that downplay things back to the email above, and basically say nothing happened in terms of a “Catholic Spring”. And they’re right. Sort of. Very “snopesish”. You’ll see.

In the response, Podesta is very interested (compare the multi-line response to his typical short responses, of which I read hundreds), and mentions contacting two people, one of whom is “Tara”. She would be a big wheel in the Podesta Group, Tony’s outfit, and is basically an international lobbyist and diplomatic influencer.

The request was for a “grassroots” movement to be started, but my immediate observation was that no such thing ever occurred. Certainly nothing appearing in the media or mentioned by the numerous Catholics here in the Treehouse. The term “Catholic Spring” was unheard of until that email emerged (but don’t trust Google not to backdate that check now, with CIA help.)

HOWEVER – this was one year before Benedict resigned under extraordinary circumstances and an Argentine ex-communist took his place. Now if that doesn’t stink bad enough, read up on how things went to Francis, theologically speaking (Popes require certain signs and events). Despite being extremely religious, I am an eternal skeptic and follower of the scientist-educating magician James Randi. I immediately spotted how a good con artist could have tipped this thing to Francis by fakery, with either positive or negative influence of a very small set of core people. You may have to dig for that info now – my guess is they know it’s sensitive and have hidden it online. You may have to look for books to get the fine details. But read, think like a crook, and you’ll see how to pull off the scam.

In other words, it is not out of the realm of possibility that the election of Francis – like so many other elections that caught the eye of Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and the people around them – was influenced. And – oh yeah – who seems to have expertise in that?

NOW – FBI Anon guy is a poster on 4chan who is allegedly (and very likely in reality, IMO) a White Hat FBI young guy who works with intel to/from younger people. He had cautioned that swamp drainage would have HUGE effects. He talked about massive, shocking scandals. Well, this qualifies if true. IF – and I say if – there really was election influence or tampering in the Catholic Church by these people…… THAT is a big deal, just like FBI anon was talking about.

I’m not actually opposed to Francis, and I believe he is there for 100% divine purpose, no matter how this works out. I disagree with him all the time. But if his tainted election helps achieve God’s ends in strange ways – well – we live in strange times. God uses all kinds of strange people in strange ways.

Maybe the church needed “hope and change”, and now it needs some “nationalism” and “populism”, too. Maybe it needs an Obama and then a Trump, just like we got. Who knows? HE knows. And sometimes, HE alone knows.

Anyway, let there be justice. However that works out. Even if the sky falls.

The original intent of the cameras in computers and phones was to catch pedos, those plotting nefarious activities, etc., under the guise of the latest, greatest technology to the gullible public. Unfortunately, those in certain agencies as well as some in positions of power (think FBI files) decided to greatly expand the uses. We all know the outcome when you let kids run riot in the candy store.

No. This vastly overestimates the competence of these gov agencies. Many people choose their phone based on how good the camera is. Gov takes advantage of the technology YOU choose to use. There is lots of tech I avoid like the plague; that would be nice to have but is not an acceptable privacy risk, from Gov or hackers.

Suggestion: put a tiny piece of tape over the front looking camera. Put phone in a case that has tape over the camera hole. Take phone out of case to take picture. Done that for many years.

Mike Zullo testified last fall in the Sheriff Arpaio federal case that the “deeper and darker” evidence he unearthed involved CIA hacking within the USA. He said that many if not all federal judges were monitored. (Think of the many court cases involving Obama’s birth certificate that were ALL dismissed over the years.) He said that at least 2 Supreme Court justices were on the surveillance list- Ruth Bader Ginsberg and Breyer. He said that Donald Trump was being monitored back in 2013. Obama and Brennan could not let anything about the Birth Certificate being forged gain traction.

They’re there. Look. Those who demonstrate journalistic excellence may be considered for early access to future parts.”

It’s not just Samsung, it would be every maker of every kind of device that is able to connect to the internet or to WI-Fi or Buetooth, or has a speaker and microphone (sound waves can be used to hack , this is what they are talking about when they mention “air-gapped”, even devices NOT connected can be hacked, if they are within audio range of the microphone).

Android devices (and likely Apple, and everyone else,) with Wi-FI can be used to monitor all wi-fi data traffic within range. Devices can be made to appear “OFF” when in fact they are still “ON”, and recording audio/visual activity witin range. Any camera or smart TV or laptop or any other device with a camera built in can monitor wnat you are saying, even if it has no microphone, by lip-reading people in front of the camera.

Smart devices of any kind can be used to access (hack into )other devices within Wi-Fi or BLuetooth range, and hack them, so they can be used for surveillance. Malware can be planted that hides in the internal chips of most any device, USB port controllers seem to be a favorite target for that, can’t be detected at all by any normal means……

Etc, etc, etc, there are really no limits to how they can do it.

Sheriff Arpaio & investigator Zullo knew about Obama’s spying re Trump and others years ago:

“.. it was alleged that federal judges, Donald Trump, Zullo, Atty. Larry Klayman and others were victims of data-harvesting by the federal government.

      Zullo:

.. Investigators were aware of the spying on Trump and others back in 2013 as well as possible illegal wiretaps. Sheriff Arpaio and I were aware of this information. The quandary we found ourselves in was that there was nowhere to turn in the normal course of investigative protocol. Concerns were that the DOJ and the FBI were compromised, which necessitated the bringing-forth of Dennis Montgomery, (former NSA/CIA contractor) to a federal judge, which was accomplished.

It’s a good thing that happened just before my birthday. My daughter bought a new computer for me and made me promise to write a letter long hand next time.
For this reason alone I had no doubt obama would do whatever he felt like doing regardless of laws. And there’s little surprise on all the monitoring by all make and manner electronics inside and outside our homes.

There should be an immediate and massive outcry to dismantle this “big brother” surveillance state. Any possible benefit is not worth the risk. Leaving such power in the hands of shadowy government bureaucracies can only in time lead to tyranny. The CIA has only caused mischief since it was created. It should be disbanded as JFK intended to do before he was assassinated. Do we really want this type of power in the hands of some future corrupt president like HRC?

Its sad that Americas’ secrets are made known to the world. The CIA/USA wants to be intimately involved inluencing world affairs and elections going on around the world as in France and probably in Ecuador (of whom the potential presidential winner wants Assange out of its embassy). But what is really the profit of all this? Has anything gotten better? Germany sucks,Sweden sucks,France sucks,Russia sucks, and on and on. The economies of many of the countries in the world are tanking and people are angry and the cultures of these countries are changing and as a result many on the verge of revolution. Is PC (or the decision to say nothing) the plan of the CIA? I don’t think so. (As a side note many of these words will be flagged by NSA<CIA<OBAM etc) The USA is meddling in other countries affairs. What have we accomplished? Is America a Republic or an Empire? Our secrets have been made known to a slew of teenage hacking punks and criminal reprobates who want nothing more than to steal from us all our technology, all our credit card info, retail corporations, banking info, defraud medicare and our medical system. It sure doesn't help when we have so few patriots. What is wrong with America? Liberal dumber than dirt protesters going crazy over things they know nothing about wanting to take down our President who truly wants to set us on a right course. Some say it's great that this info goes out to the world. Unfortunately it ends up in the hands of tin-pot dictators like N Korea, and cyber criminals looking for a fast buck. How does that level any international playing field when they use it to steal our technology. Pat Buchanan wrote that nations like ours die of suicide. He is so spot on in his analysis of the downfall of our nation. I am not so much worried about the CIA or NSA spying on me or trying to hack my web site or hack my email, who has twisted our thinking that the enemy of the people is our own government? The real concern is those who want to do us harm. Lets face it, most of the world doesn't care much about America aka "the great Satan". So I can't really justify any government official giving away our secrets and as I see it right now the person responsible for handing this to WikiLeaks is a traitor.

The Deep State (very much CIA +) is running the Hegemon, a global empire.
We have 700 bases around the globe. Our special forces enter and perform in 130 nations per year. We run the oceans and the choke points of the seas. We have half the nuclear warhead power of the world. America is an Empire to the rest of the world. And it has been this way since the USSR went down.

We gloss over the horrors we inflict by using words like democracy, elections, freedom, alliance, allies, human rights which sugar coat our hegemony.

But as we see, we have no control over the government of the US. It is not our government.

Just look at nearly 50 days of President Trump. He barely has control of 10% of the Executive Branch. When will he have 100%? Don’t bet on him gathering that power in his first term. Not with the neocons, Deep State, RINOS, MSM, Obama’s Shadow Government, and NeverTrumpers. It just won’t happen.

Bull, this has been on my heart for about four hours now. I don’t think most people are really connecting the dots here yet – this is full red pill territory.

I am surprised no one is yet talking about what this will mean for US agencies and personnel on the ground. As people figure out what more and more of this Vault & – and whatever is next – means – we may well see attacks on our military personnel, embassies, consulates, NGOs, big business interests etc and this will be used as justification for it.

And the stock market will be impacted – I’m surprised it has stayed as steady as it has so far today. Shockingly, Samsung ended the day with the EXACT SAME numbers they started the day with. 2010,000.00. How is that possible? Samsung stock should have tumbled today.

I disagree with that assessment. All personnel have been or getting ready to or about to go FULL ALERT STATUS. When something this major can cause irreparable harm to the United States, then everyone hunkers down. Please don’t forget…This has been brewing for a very long time and when this much information is being outed, AND information being analyzed by others, other than OUR intel srvs of course, there will more than likely be silent arrests being made in certain quarters. This is not a spy novel but the United States needs to be internally protected AT ALL TIMES…Just be patient and let everything unfold…Sundance and the rest of this fine bunch will get to the bottom very quickly…Have Faith, and LEAN INTO IT… God Speed to everyone!!!

Look at the list of who was on that plane. All along I thought there was an issue with this, especially given where it went MIA and that it was never found. And it isn’t the only plane that went MIA from that area either.

Now, if you can stand it, think even bigger than MH370. The implication is terrifying.

        MH370 was likely pilot snapping.

No maydays, although comms could be shut down. Then climb until loss of O2 knocks everyone out. Easy enough to disable supplemental O2. From there on fly the plane to the least accessible, least recoverable area within fuel range.

        Why do this?

        1) Extortion – pay us xxx millions or we’ll make another plane disappear

        2) Testing/proof of concept by CIA or parties unknown with access to CIA hijacking software. Pick a 3rd world plane so the outcry would be less (than US or Euro plane)

        3) Warning from China to US: ” we know you can (or have?) do this, we can too”

Still think pilot snapped, but now every significant event in the past 20 years needs reviewed.

Agencies within the Intelligence Community shall use the least intrusive collection techniques feasible within the United States or directed against United States persons abroad. Agencies are not authorized to use such techniques as electronic surveillance, unconsented physical search, mail surveillance, physical surveillance, or monitoring devices unless they are in accordance with procedures established by the head of the agency concerned and approved by the Attorney General. Such procedures shall protect constitutional and other legal rights and limit use of such information to lawful governmental purposes. These procedures shall not authorize:
    (a) The CIA to engage in electronic surveillance within the United States
    except for the purpose of training, testing, or conducting countermeasures to hostile electronic surveillance;

Parts 1.8, 1.12b, and 2.3 are particularly relevant to our topic. Notably: “approved by the Attorney General” appears all over anything targeting US citizens or soil.

My cell and smartphones when at home are off and in a closed utility room to charge, None of my computers have cams or mics in or attached. I don’t have a Smart TV, but if I ever get one, any cams and mics in them will be physically disconnected before it leaves the store or destroyed with a drill and glue from the outside when I get it home.

CIA,NSA intrusions – my thoughts as a long time professional software engineer. I used Unix operating systems for much of my development time. safer.

    1) All Apple operating systems on ALL platforms have Always had NSA, CIA backdoors built into them.
    2) All Microsoft operating systems on ALL platforms have Always had NSA, CIA backdoors built into them. Windows 10 even comes with a built in key logging app (malware) to track your every key and mouse use.
    3) I treat all Apple and Microsoft operating systems as permanent malware. Use with caution. These OS builtin hacks cannot be removed by most security software by agreement ($$$).

    4) China – Apple refused to disclose full specs on their recent iPhone products to China. China said, OK we will phase out use of Apple iPhones for government work.
    5) Russia – they are phasing out the use of any Apple and Microsoft products for government workers.
    6) Both China and Russia stopped buying CISCO USA made large internet switches. NSA was stopping those on the docks and loading NSA sniffers in them.

    7) Russia and China are currently working on enhancing a clean operating system for use on all platforms for their secure use. This has existed for a while and they keep enhancing it. Hack free malware free, USA junk free secure OS by design. Simple bulletproof design.
    8) Some smart tech leaders do not use smart phones for key use or in sensitive areas. They use dumb simple phones. I do not use a smart phone much. If I use a smart phone it is only in the context of my location and information that I assume is OK for all in the world to see and know.
    9) Years ago I stopped allowing any smart phones into any important meetings discussing software design. Phones where left in basket outside and covered, and the door closed.

Am I super paranoid. Not really. Just careful in managing my exposures. For CIA and NSA purposes I am mostly off their easy tracking grid.

If you have nothing to hide, then no worries. But if you are afraid that they may find something to use as blackmail on you, then be careful. They have it.

PS. NSA,CIA knows everything that is posted to FB if they want it. By FB $$$ agreement. Twitter same.

earlier versions of Apple and Microsoft OS had exploits which CIA and NSA could use. Apple and Microsoft knew about them and did nothing to close all of them. Other hackers found them and used them also.

Newer OS are MS and AAPL gave away more entrances known only to CIA and NSA and made them harder for others to find.

So they initially were mostly “incompetent on purpose” and let CIA and NSA and others find the holes and then they did not close them all and later they just became deliberately corrupt.

Same result. They could always spy on you and AAPL and MS knew about it. (1) Guilt by complicity and later (2) guilt by direct support.

Steve Jobs was a visionary but no saint. He was a tough CEO first and foremost. And what do he care about? Money and power. Tim Cook is just pure financial crook type CEO and will easily sell his soul to the devil for a buck.

I put Jobs in the same category as Facebook’s Zuckerberg – power and money hungry visionary.
