Among the most accomplished business leaders and international dealmakers in the world, Mr. Tillerson has spent his career protecting the jobs of his employees, who number more than 70,000. Guiding operations around the world that include more than 200 offices, Mr. Tillerson knows how to manage a global organization and successfully navigate the complex architecture of world affairs and diverse foreign leaders.

As Secretary of State, he will be a forceful and clear-eyed advocate for America’s vital national interests, and help reverse years of misguided foreign policies and actions that have weakened America’s security and standing in the world. The American people will once again have a world-class leader working on their behalf, enhancing the prospects for peace and prosperity among nations.

“Rex Tillerson’s career is the embodiment of the American dream. Through hard work, dedication and smart deal making, Rex rose through the ranks to become CEO of ExxonMobil, one of the world’s largest and most respected companies,” said President-elect Donald J. Trump. “His tenacity, broad experience and deep understanding of geopolitics make him an excellent choice for Secretary of State.

He will promote regional stability and focus on the core national security interests of the United States. Rex knows how to manage a global enterprise, which is crucial to running a successful State Department, and his relationships with leaders all over the world are second to none. I can think of no one more prepared, and no one more dedicated, to serve as Secretary of State at this critical time in our history.”

“I am honored by President-elect Trump’s nomination and share his vision for restoring the credibility of the United States’ foreign relations and advancing our country’s national security.”  “We must focus on strengthening our alliances, pursuing shared national interests and enhancing the strength, security and sovereignty of the United States.”

[…] Mr. Tillerson is not only a stalwart in his professional life, but also in the community. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and a trustee of the Center for Strategic and International Studies. He is the vice chairman of the Ford’s Theatre Society and a recipient of the Lincoln Medal; immediate past national president of the Boy Scouts of America, a Distinguished Eagle Scout, and a former director of the United Negro College Fund. He was recognized as a distinguished alumnus of the University of Texas at Austin in 2006, and in 2013, was elected to the National Academy of Engineering.  (link)

I just watched the 2012 presentation Tillerson made to the Council of Foreign Relations. Wow!!! He’s a fantastic choice for Secretary of State! Much superior to Bill Clinton’s wife and the Heinz heiress’s husband.

Apparently only politicians know how to negotiate.
Maybe they should read “The Art of the Deal” from a business man. Or try running one themselves.

Oh they can run things—into the ground!

Pols are fond of saying gummint is different than bidnez–not really. The goal in bidnez is to make a profit and grow, if that’s consistent with serving your market, which leads to more profits. The only proper goal of gummint is to ensure the basic framework of safety and infrastructure to allow its people to profit. Profit remains the goal. Once pols lose sight of these fundamentals, they’re instantly and usually irretrievably in the weeds. In bidnez, they get fired. Just as the profit goal is the same, getting fired should be the same for pols who cause their gummint and people to lose, instead of profit.

We asked for an OUTSIDER, so we hired Donald Trump. Trump is filling his Cabinet with OUTSIDERS, very intelligent, accomplished and successful folks, including our Generals. It might help to remember that whatever we “didn’t like about that person as CEO” doesn’t necessary translate into advocacy in the Cabinet. Very different from a career politician with a lifetime agenda (like Ryan with AMNESTY).

No, these CEO’s come from a world where they learn to thrive within the rules of the game SET UP BY POLITICIANS. They are beholden to their employees, their vendors, their stockholders. I would bet that more than one of them are now licking their chops in anticipation of CHANGING THE RULES OF THE RIGGED GAME to better foster FREEDOM and FREE MARKET CAPITALISM. I would bet they have been furious at some of the rules they have had to operate within, such as perpetrated by the richly funded Gay Activist Left; or affirmative action; or minimum wage.

ANY opposition against Tillerson for making agreements with Russia is hypocritical and discriminatory. The Oh? & Team made deals with, and paid ransom to a country that before, during and after he made the deal, proclaimed “Death To America”.

There are MANY Russian/American business owners in the USA that employ millions across the USA. It is time for them to stand up and say, Enough with all the Russian b.s.!

IF we can’t talk truthfully about Muslims, or any other race, how is it that it’s OK to brand ALL Russians with a bad rep?

Maybe the people making the accusations should be reminded of all the deals other people make with China, Iran.
Having someone who knows how to work with Russia will be a good thing, seeing as how relations between the two countries are so low now, and due to Russia’s strategic location.(I also notice neither Trump nor Tillerson play the “we’re BFF” game in foreign policy — finally we don’t have that sort of ridiculousness going on).
      This was a good pick.

Of course, it’s also making people’s heads explode, which is a plus.

Never sell them short. If it were not for smart oilies who developed fracking, downhole completion methods and horizontal drilling, Obama would have made us slaves to the Saudi’s. US oil patch enginuity still sets the model for international oil development.

God Bless the USA. God Bless Texas and the oil patch.
