Sunday Talks – Kellyanne Conway Fox News Sunday…

The ever insufferable progressive Chris Wallace exhibits his customary passive aggressive interview technique during an interview with Kellyanne Conway on Fox News Sunday.

Note the conflation during the segment on Carrier, between crony tax expenditures (ie. Solyndra) and allowing a company to keep more of their own revenue (ie. lower tax burden Carrier).  As previously mentioned it is going to take some time before the majority of American’s can once again make this distinction.

We can anticipate this intentional economic cognitive dissonance from all financially dependent Wall Street sycophants (Rupert Murdoch, Wall Street Journal, Fox News et al), and all like-minded globalist left-wing ideologues, as they attempt to fight back against -and undermine- Trump’s America-First economic proposals.

Since Trump plans to let all companies keep more of their revenue, and this was just a special case because of time, it’s hardly crony. However, I expect nothing less from left-wing media.

  5. What frosted my mini-wheats was the ensuing “panel” discussion, during which one of the panelists – Kimberly Strassel – insisted that the free market and not the government ought to decide on matters of businesses remaining in the USA. Completely ignored was the fact that it is government REGULATIONS that have strangled our businesses, along with the high cost of “Obamacare” and TAXATION. Not one MENTION of that. Chris Wallace then left it there and went on to Monica Crowley with a different topic, thus preventing any debate or opposing position of view that might have pointed that out.

    (from the transcript:)

“We just had a president who for eight years decided they were going to politically allocate capital in the country, pick winners and losers. We were very critical of him for doing that, Solyndra et al.

This is a similar version of this. These companies are not leaving the United States because they’re anti-American or want to stick it to Indiana. They’re following the laws of economics. It’s too expensive to do business here.

So, Mr. Trump has a choice. He can go from company to company, thousands of them, and sort of beat all of them into submission and threaten them with tariffs, or focus — and I think this is what he’s going to do — on macroeconomic policy, like cutting tax and cutting back regulation. ”

BEAT THEM INTO SUBMISSION? WTF? Strassel just contradicted herself in one sentence. Cutting tax and cutting back regulations is “beating them into submission?”

OMFW! This is what I detest about Fox News. Lies by OMISSION. By what they DON’T tell the viewer. It’s biased, constant and unrelenting. Trump speaks the truth when he says the media is corrupt. This is just ONE example of that.

(And another thing – does anyone really care about what Juan Williams has to say about anything? REALLY?)

Mr. Trump used an ‘All of the Above’ approach – promises to make things better with regulations and corporate taxes, working out a near term incentive to stay (tax break, public relations) and reminding them of future tariffs on products coming back into the USA.

Nicely said georgiafl, Trump and Pence teamed with Carrier’s owner United Technologies to find what Carrier needed to stay in business in the US.

Ultimately, companies have to have a competitive business environment to run a competitive business in the US and the only way to have good jobs is to have competitive businesses. Obama and Dhimmocrats have caused companies to flee the US.

And as many have pointed out. Trump has not been sworn in yet. But he knows manufacturing jobs are fleeing the US. Time is wasting if he waits for January 20, 2017.

Kimberly Strassel doesn’t know what she doesn’t know. Does she think that our foreign competitors adhere to her purist view of free trade? I’ll give her a hint: they don’t. Japan makes it virtually impossible for foreign autos to be sold there. Only 4% of all vehicles sold in Japan come from outside of Japan. Germany subsidizes the training for manufacturing workers. Countries like China, Vietnam and Mexico have lax worker safety and pollution standards, yet Strassel acts like world trade runs like what she read in a first semester class on Adam Smith.

      • This phony free trade dogma didn’t even work when it was a widely held ideology of the ruling classes – 19th century England. Real conservatives, like Disraeli, saw right through it.

And most don’t realize that the United States was largely protectionist for the first 150 years or so. It was the policy of Washington, Hamilton, Jackson, Clay, and many others in the formative years of the republic and in fact the policy of every prominent Republican from Lincoln until Eisenhower. Tariffs were one of the most contentious issues between North and South leading up to the Civi War (or the War between the States, if one prefers).

And without those protectionist policies, we would have been recolonized by Britain or France as an infant country, and we would not have built the industrial might necessary to win WWII.

          How soon we forget.

Be honest here. Why are the companies leaving??? Excessive regulations, first, and second, taxes (but that is not all, Government caused uncertainty is the stealth killer). Trump’s threat of tariffs is a stop gap and he knows it. Why else is he up front addressing those two issues for business.

But let’s not stop there. For American workers to be competitive, healthcare costs, taxes, education, and quality and other costs must be competitive with those costs for workers elsewhere. You see, it is not just business that has to be competitive worldwide.

It is a total package, soup to nuts. The whole picture needs fixing, and therefore anyone that microscopes in on only one part will ultimately fail. Trump is not doing that.

One more thing that I have to reverse myself on (not the first, not the last). Kelly Anne is a real sweetheart. Her cutlery set is used only on media vermin, and her physician skill with the scalpel is only a reflection of what is needed in dealing with media demons (like Wallace).

      • Whatever. Misuse of commas and apostrophes drives me nuts. Plurals RARELY require apostrophes. Current usage for numbers also omits them, as in 1970s. The argument which sold that punctuation convention was that these numbers were not possessives.

Relax more. Many times it’s a simple typo or an overly-sensitive “auto-correct” that did it – and the poster does know correct usage, but either just didn’t catch it or just didn’t bother to correct it after-the-fact (which is perhaps a hassle to do on the device they are using – who knows…?).

Don’t ass-u-me that each time you see a misspelled word or misused punctuation that there is some ignorant keyboard warrior on the far end of it. Go with the flow…

I can understand your beef to some extent. Were this an engineering drawing or document stating requirements, typically I will comb, then re-comb the document. Just as words matter, punctuation does too: Bill, Todd, and Mary is quite different from Bill, Todd and Mary. That is the million dollar comma.

I think the designation Alt-Left is incorrect, since they are not alternative leftists, but mainstream leftists. Someone suggested Ctrl-Left, which does seem to be a better fit. The Alt-Right are not mainstream conservatives, but alternative conservatives who accept many conservative ideas, but not all of them (for example the traditional Republican opposition to gay marriage). I also note that “Sundance” has started using Ctrl-Left. If enough do it, perhaps the crazies on the other side will stop throwing Alt-Right around so much. They don’t even know it means.

An article in the paper the other day, by the AP I think, were raving about how all Trump’s Cabinet picks were going to save an un-Godly amount on their taxes this year as a result of BEING FORCED TO LIQUIDATE THEIR HOLDINGS.

Okay. They are in tbe market, making money, paying wages, and such. Joining the government, they have to leave all this money making behind. But what an outrage it is that they will pay less tax this year as a consequence of selling all to serve!

So they lose their stakes, and their places at the table, willingly, to serve their country. But their lower tax bills, as a consequence of not making money anymore, are the very epitome of crony…what…non-Capitalism?
