When you consider that 2/3rd’s of all House members come from New York, California or Illinois the vote to re-elect Nancy Pelosi (134-to-63) takes appropriate context.
The continued polarization of the electorate is playing out as the Democrat party focus even further on the severe left-wing ideology. In essence, the rabid nature of the minority influence within the party is ensuring their continued irrelevance.
To give you some context for this, consider the make up of the U.S. House of representatives when Pelosi took control in 2006, ultimately culminating in the election of Barack Obama in 2008. This is what the nation looked like when Pelosi took control:

In 2008 the DNC made a specific decision to go all-in with full throated radicalism and left-wing ideological moonbattery. The social justice warriors took over the advocacy reins of the Democrat party. Progressive purity was the litmus test; climate change and social justice was the cause celeb. Senator Obama became their vehicle, and emotion drives the Democrat brand.
In addition to never proposing a budget, two years later, in order to achieve their healthcare takeover, Democrats killed their own “blue dog” coalition (2010), and suffered the largest electoral defeat in the history of their party.
Seemingly undeterred and simultaneously tone-deaf, in 2011 Democrats doubled down in Madison Wisconsin and waged a ground battle; again, they lost. Occupy Wall Street (OWS) began smashing windows in Dem strongholds as a visible protest to their ideological defeat and Nancy Pelosi said: “God Bless These People“.
In 2012 and 2014 the Democrat party loses only amplified across America, and one-by-one state legislative houses collapsed under the weight of continual Democrat social justice radicalism.
Tax-Payer funded birth control was the paramount concern. Rainbow lights adorned the White House, trans-gender bathrooms and various Hollywood limo-liberal interests were openly celebrated as the primary focus and priorities for the Democrat Party.
Despite their diminishing capability to get reelected outside of severe liberal bastions, the party apparatus refused to look at their geography. Social justice warriors tripled down on political correctness; Black Lives Matter continued the anti-police riots (and affiliated nonsense), and George Soros poured hundreds of millions into his attempts to keep the destructive ideology active and alive.
For over eight years the ideologically aligned corporate U.S. media has pretended all of this failure didn’t exist – ultimately culminating in their insufferable reality disconnect leading up to the 2016 presidential election and Donald Trump’s victory.
Today, the Democrat Party reelected Nancy Pelosi as their leader:
California Democratic Rep. Nancy Pelosi on Wednesday was appointed to an eighth term as House minority leader, surviving a challenge from a Midwestern Democrat backed by caucus members frustrated over repeated election loses and an aging leadership team.
Pelosi was challenged by Ohio Rep. Tim Ryan in a secret-ballot vote among House Democrats. She won by a 134-to-63 vote.
Pelosi said afterward that she was “exhilarated” by the strong support and reminded reporters that she had accurately predicted winning two-thirds of the vote.
She has winning brought “a special spring in my step” because it gives her the opportunity to “differentiate between us and the administration coming in January.” (link)
In 2006 the basic makeup of the U.S. was roughly 50/50 with each American voter essentially finding some value, policy or elements within each party they might align with. In 2016, outside of California, New York and Illinois, national Democrats have removed any connection to ordinary, non-hyphenated, American values.
