Last Thursday two nuns, who were registered nurses and served the local community with free healthcare, were found brutally murdered in their home just outside Jackson Mississippi. They had been stabbed to death and law enforcement found evidence of a break in; their blue Toyota Corolla was missing.

The nuns worked for the Catholic Diocese of Jackson (Mississippi) where they operated a clinic in Lexington, about 13 miles away. Clinic workers called law enforcement when Sister Paula Merrill and Sister Margaret Held did not show up for work. They had quietly served the community in Mississippi for decades.

Yesterday a suspect in their murder was arrested, Rodney Earl Sanders (pictured above). Once again, the media pushing the obtuse line “no known motive” – ie. something’s up:

Via AP Update (9:15pm) […] Willie March, the sheriff of Holmes County where the killings occurred, said Saturday he had been briefed by police from the town where the killings occurred and Mississippi Bureau of Investigation officials who took part in Sanders’ interrogation.

Sanders confessed in the interrogation to the killings and gave no reason for the crimes, March said. (more)

MISSISSIPPI – DURANT, MI(AP) — A man suspected in the slayings of two nuns found dead in their Mississippi home has been arrested and charged with capital murder in the shocking killing that rocked the small town communities where the women served, authorities said.

Rodney Earl Sanders, 46, of Kosciusko, Mississippi, was charged in the deaths of Sister Margaret Held and Sister Paula Merrill, Mississippi Department of Public Safety spokesman Warren Strain said late Friday. Both women were 68. (read more)
