Open Discussion Thread for anything related to BREXIT

Today is the big day for Britain’s vote to remain in the European Union or to declare its independence and take control of its own destiny.    Voting began at 7:00am in Britain (2:00am U.S. EDT) and will continue throughout the day until 10:00pm local (5:00pm U.S. EDT):
update-1Update 6:30pm EDT:  With polls closed the totals are beginning to come in.  UK Telegraph has a Live Stream and Live Feed – AVAILABLE HERE
Brexit 3 June 23
There is a great deal of media information and misinformation coming out in the early results depending on the political leanings of the reporting media.  At 6:43pm EDT it’s still too uncertain.

♦ Island of Gibraltar (borders with Spain) has come in solidly for REMAIN but that was to be expected. Remain 19,322. Leave 823

Due to the extreme sensitivity of the election, there are strict rules on polling location reporting.  Exit polling is banned and the media’s ability to report on events is being strictly monitored.  As a consequence results will most likely not be known until Friday.  Here’s the anticipated time frame for results (all times adjusted to U.S. EDT):

  • 5:00pm Polls Close
  • 6:00pm – 7:00pm Anticipated results from: Gibraltar, Isles of Scilly, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne and Sunderland.
  • 8:00pm anticipated results from: Hartlepool
  • 9:00pm – 10:00pm Most results anticipated (291 of 382 counting areas)
  • 2:00am (Friday) Most results should be declared

*Note* Historically in Britain, much like the U.S., the media customarily get predictions and polling wrong because they over estimate the liberal/progressive narrative.
