A new Rasmussen Poll (Data Link Here) of 1,000 national “likely voters” shows candidate Donald Trump with a 5 point lead over Hillary Clinton, 42 / 37.

This poll is significant when combined with the recent NBC/Survey Monkey and Fox News polls.  Rasmussen is a very reliable polling outfit, and you’ll note they use the most accurate methodology for a national general electorate sample via “Likely Voters”.   Likely voters are more apt to catch the Monster Vote.
Unlike the NBC poll which is insufferably prone to ideological manipulation (evidenced by the history of pollster Mark Murray), and unlike Fox News poll samples of “Registered Voters” from PR firm data lists, the Rasmussen poll samples are “clean data origins”.
Unfortunately, the Rasmussen type of polling is very expensive, and that’s why Rasmussen charges considerably high rates ($199/yr subscription) to even look at their crosstab data.  However, we can see general contrasts that deserve notation.
The Fox News National Poll had Hillary Clinton leading with those over the age of 50.  This was odd considering the commanding poll and voter responses to Donald Trump in all other state-by-state polls.  The Rasmussen poll has a more accurate result:

[…] “Those under 40 favor Clinton, while older voters prefer Trump by double-digit margins”. –link

While they don’t give the actual result (unless you pay to see), that summary is more in line with all regional and state polling, as well as election outcomes.

While there is much talk of a gender gap in this race, Clinton appears to have a bigger problem with men than Trump does with women. Trump leads by 22 points among men, compared to Clinton’s 11-point advantage among women. –link
[…] Clinton is well ahead of Trump among black voters but loses the white vote to her GOP opponent. Other minority voters are closely divided.  –link
