Pennsylvania: Every Voice Matters – Every Vote Matters – Your Vote Matters…

Don’t WAIT – Monday March 28th is the deadline for eligible Pennsylvania residents to change their political party affiliation or register to vote in the primary election April 26.

Pennsylvania has a closed primary, meaning voters must register as a Democrat or Republican to cast a vote in the presidential primary contest, an election that typically increases voter turnout.  If you are an independent in Pennsylvania, and you wish to vote in the republican presidential primary, you must change your party affiliation BEFORE MONDAY.

trump winning 2

Independents and other non-partisan registered voters will only be able to vote for or against two proposed amendments to the state constitution. One amendment seeks to extend the mandatory retirement age for judges from 70 to 75; the other would abolish the Philadelphia Traffic Court.

To register to vote or to change party affiliation or update a home address or name, visit: www.register.votesPA.com.  Voters can also register and make changes by mail or by visiting an election office in person.  A full list of election office locations and phone numbers is available HERE.

There is little reason to believe that candidate Donald Trump will not be able to reach the needed 1,237 delegates needed to clinch the republican nomination.  By most objective measures Trump is well on his way to achieve the needed threshold.  However, the conversation about the possibility of an “open convention” is even more of a reason to get out and vote.

In the final analysis, any possible open convention will be an argument of who holds the majority voice.  Therefore the aggregate vote accumulated by each candidate will be a substantive part of the argument within the GOP convention debate.

This past week in Arizona tens of thousands of voters stood for hours in line to cast their votes.  Unfortunately many independent voters found themselves blocked out of the presidential primary because only registered Democrats and Republicans were eligible to vote.

By all measures the larger Arizona polling locations were overwhelmed with the turnout, which has been blowing away all former predictive models.

It is even more critical now to engage in the political election process and allow your voice to be counted.  Even if you live in an area or region where your political views might be considered in the minority, this year your voice counts more than ever before.

Every single vote matters.

Ted Cruz is in third in the polling in Pennsylvania. More proof this guy is not a viable national candidate and would get crushed in November. All these polls that show Cruz leading Hillary never do an electoral map breakdown. My guess it would be nearly all blue. Cruz would even lose some southern states too.

My name is Ann and I am a political junkie. Until 2007 I was a low information voter. If a candidate was cute, he got my vote. Like most lo-info voters I believed the gov’t was there to help me, and would never let me down. Candidate Obama reminded me mightily of a number of students I had taught over the years. Sort of the Eddie Haskel syndrome. Gave meaning to the expression “sugar wouldn’t melt in his mouth”. The “teacher’s instinct”, combined with years of experience working with middle school students , gave me a wonderful (though totally politically incorrect) profile of the character that is Obama. Such strong red flags went up that I began reading – a lot. I read civics books, books on the economy, and stacks of books on socialism, communism, Alinsky. I was a regular vacuum cleaner for political information. All that research and reading gave me a good background for understanding what was going on, but did not school me in sensing the “whys”. In hindsight I could see perfectly, but not so much looking ahead. This article may be the first of a fledgling sense of “political motive”. **Cruz was not at the top of the list for the 2016 election. Jebbie was to be the Republican candidate. All the plans were made for any possibility, and then Jebbie dropped the ball. Well, he never even caught the ball. New #1 choices began to be propped up, but one by one they fell off line. Trump was taking over! The emphasis turned to “get rid of Trump”, and cruz slipped in. Now the GOPe has to remove cruz so there is room for a nomination of their choice from the convention floor. How am I doing so far? My theory is that the publicity of cruz’ “flings” will destroy cruz’s chance to gain the nomination, leaving the convention door open for the Jeb replacement against Hillary. Thoughts?

There are 54 delegates elected in 18 congressional districts ( 3 delegates per district) are, legally, uncommitted but most are saying they will commit to the candidate getting majority or plurality in the district. There are 14 committed to the candidate getting majority or plurality statewide. 3 are reserved for state chairman Rob Gleason and national committee people Bob Asher and Christine Toretti. They are backing John Kasich and, in any event, are not to be trusted and have been losing statewide races for years.

Trump needs to make many appearances and work on his ground game, if he does that, he will win by a comfortable margin.

Pennsylvania voter poll: Kasich climbs into dead heat with Trump
    http://triblive.com/news/allegheny/10189902-74/kasich-trump-poll

From the Article: The Franklin & Marshall College poll said Trump is supported by 33 percent of Pennsylvania’s registered Republicans, followed by Kasich at 30 percent and U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz at 20 percent. The poll’s margin of error for Republican voters is plus or minus 5.4 percentage points, making the April 26 primary race too close to predict.

Franklin and Marshal’s Terry Madonna’s poll is not reliable in my opinion. He is the voice of the Pennsylvania Establishment: Rob Gleason, Bob Asher , Christine Toretti, and their network of Political Profiteers. I have reliable source that tells me that Bob Asher was paid $2.2 million in 2012 by American Rambler, a Romney SuperPAC.

The Pennsylvania Establishment is fundraising for John Kasich now that Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio are out. John Kasich and Ted Cruz will be at the Pennsylvania Leadership Conference on April 1-2. It is a venue of Pennsylvania’s conservative grassroots and where quasi-Democrats like John Kasich and RINOs present to convince principled grassroots voters that they are sincere. Sometimes they fool the voters. Pat Toomey was supported by this base and this year he has abandoned the base and will be a no show.

This just doesn’t make since, logic would tell you Trump being ahead for this long would naturally start to get people to join the front runner that don’t want an ugly convention and for Cruz to naturally lose some. There can’t be this many insane people that don’t see a convention would only hurt the party. This looks strangely similar to going into Ohio and look how that turned out. It does seem that Trump has slowed down his rallying quite a bit – at what I see as a critical point in the process, where a regular schedule of strong appearances could likely help the cause.

I’m wondering if mobilized agitators, threats, and/or the associated potential for negative optics have caused the Secret Service and/or the campaign to reevaluate the number, size, and venues for any future appearances.

I’d hate to think that this is actually the case, but it does seem at least ‘unusual’ compared to what we’ve seen from Trump over the past few months.

As always, I trust in letting Trump be Trump. Just wondering, though.

The headline “46,000 Democrats switch registration”; the truth but not the whole truth. Nate Benefield, as you will read, is not a fan of Donald Trump which may be the motivation for this research but, facts are facts and Nate is too intellectually honest to provide a tendentious, cherry picked analysis.

In fact, government voting statistics show that 49,000 Democrats switched, not 49,000 and. in the same time period, that 25,000 Republicans switched registration to Democrat and that in 2016, the Republicans have had a net gain of 17,760, impressive but not as dramatic as the dishonest media stated.

    http://nathanbenefield.blogspot.com/2016/03/breaking-down-pennsylvanias-voter.html

A number of news stories have focused on the fact that “46,000” (it’s actually more than 49,000, as of March 7) Pennsylvania Democrats switched their voter registration to Republican, and speculated that’s a “Trump effect.”

Now 49,000 switches is a huge number, larger than past years, and that may be the “Trump effect”—though if it is, that runs against the narrative of “racist Republicans” supporting Trump, when it’s Democrats who like Trump’s big government, xenophobic policies.

But it may also be the “Wolf effect,” or the “Obama effect,” or simply presidential election enthusiasm. It could also be folks switching to oppose Trump.

Most likely (this is my hypothesis), it’s the fact this will likely be the first time in decades Pennsylvania’s primary will help determine the GOP nominee.

But the fact is this number doesn’t represent some mass movement or a resurgence of the Republican party in Pennsylvania.

    1) Conversions from Republican to Democrat are also up. More than 25,000 Republicans and almost 32,000 “other” switch their registration to Democrat.

The 25,000 Republicans who switched in the first 3 months are also higher than the total in 2013, 2014, or 2015. Moreover, Republicans usually have an advantage in party shifts, though Democrats have outpaced Republicans in getting independent voters to switch their party registration.

    2) This doesn’t approach the wave of 2008. In the year before the 2008 primary (with the Obama wave and the close Obama-Clinton primary race), Democrats gained 328,000 registered voters, while Republicans lost 73,000—a net swing of 401,000.

Over the past 10 months, Republicans have gained ground on Democrats, but only by 34,000 on Democrats.

    3) Democrats continue to lead in new party registration. Democrats have had 6,000 more newly registered voters than Republicans, an have out-gained Republicans in new registration every year. While the first three months of 2016 are an exception, new voter registrations matters more than party-to-party shifts. Since 2008, Republicans are a +63,000 in party shifts, but Democrats are a +219,000 in new voter registration.

I think Donald will have a hard time winning either WI or PA because of the flap over the wives. Andrea Mcwilliams was all over the place bringing the photos up at that time. Now they tell him to release the photos in Utah. They want to further the splitter strategy. They know that people are turned off by this kind of attack. If they are turned off by both Cruz and Trump, well — that’s why Kasich is still in the race.

The link below is to my website that was created for the sole purpose of maintaining my Republican Primary Delegate Forecast. The forecast is currently for the remaining 17 states and presents my WORST CASE scenario where Donald Trump exceeds the 1237 delegates necessary to win the nomination. My current forecast has Trump winning 1245 delegates.

    https://thomasberwick.wordpress.com/2016/03/10/republican-delegate-count-2/

There are 5 key “Winner Takes Most” states that allocate delegates by congressional district and give the winner “at large and bonus” delegates. I have listed these states below with my current Trump congressional districts forecast verses total congressional districts:

    Wisconsin ——– 5 of 8
    Maryland ——– 5 of 8
    Pennsylvania — 10 of 18
    Indiana ———- 5 of 9
    California —— 26 of 53

This current Trump congressional districts forecast was used to determine the Trump delegate count in the link above. This forecast assumes that Trump will get 80 of 95 delegates from New York and NOT get the 27 “Winner Take All” delegates of Montana’s open primary. Note, however, that Trump is currently leading in the Montana poll.

If Trump wins Montana, his total delegate jumps to 1272 and if he wins all of the New York congressional districts, his total jumps to 1287. Finally, for each congressional district that Trump wins beyond my current forecast, you can add 3 delegates. For example, if Trump wins 5 additional congressional districts, his BEST CASE total could reach 1302.

I hope this will “arm” you to know when the pundits and talking heads from the “establishment” are putting out BS. Except for Bill O’Reilly, Eric Boling and Jesse Watters, most of the Fox News folks are against Trump, especially Dana PeRINO, “Smeagol” Kelly and her “political mentor”, Chris StirCRAP.

I am making a website that aggregates the preferences of the unbound delegates on the Republican ballot from all the sources that have reported on it. It is at http://pennsylvaniarepublicandelegates2016.blogspot.com

Doug McLinko, Republican commissioner in Bradford County, northeast Pennsylvania makes the case for Donald Trump. Bradford County is a major area of Marcellus Shale energy development in Pennsylvania. http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/elections/2016/03/28/donald-trump-republican-establishment-northeast-pennsylvania/82337778/
