I think Kasich will hit back, and it won’t be pretty. A lot is made of Cruz’ debate skills, but he argues like a lawyer and a lot of it is misdirection, obfuscation and talking points. He’s better at delivering those than Rubio, who can give a pretty speech. But Kasich is a wonk and a bastard. Just because he hugs people and talks like a Democrat… The guy had a more powerful position than Cruz in the Bush administration and has $20 million after a career in public service. Cruz might take a shot at his record, but he’ll leave himself open to his own record. Kasich was in Congress AND a lobbyist, too. He could flay Cruz on trade, as well as Rubio did on immigration.

If Trump does a complete sweep and wins Florida, Ohio, Missouri, and Illinois next Tuesday that’s 286 Delegates right there which would bring him to 747 delegates, little over 60% of the way there.

Honestly, Trump just needs to win all of the states on Tuesday. He does, this race is over no matter how much Cruz can go and say “I’m the best candidate to beat Trump.”

Trump now has 7 states he has won the 50% + 1%:
              1) SC (50 out of 50)
              2) TN (33 out of 58)
              3) GA (43 out of 76)
              4) AL (36 out of 50)
              5) MA (22 out of 42)
              6) Mississippi (25 out of 49)
              7) Hawaii (10 out of 19)

NOTE: (In NH he missed by 1, NV missed by 2)

Cruz will win Missouri, known for its dirty politics of which his campaign manager Jeff Roe is an expert. But I think Trump can take the entire East Coast except for maybe Maryland, where the Beltway types who like Cruz live. Based on the Michigan primary, Trump can take the Rust Belt. The Northeast and the West Coast are a better fit for him. That leaves the Midwest. If you gave Cruz all of flyover land, Trump would win the 1237 and then some.

Yes, mine too. I put together a spreadsheet with the numbers projected by
        http://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/election-2016/delegate-targets/
which enables me to play around with scenarios. It would seem that the smoke will have largely cleared by March 15, then we should see if Trump has to negotiate with GOPe.

The ‘Island of Snakes’ meeting going on right now may determine if GOPe throws in their towel and cuts an early deal of if they go for bust. Rove is there and seems to be an idiot with a terrible track record, so someone else may emerge and change their current direction especially after their scorched earth plan failed.

Reminds me of Yeltsin standing on the Kremlin steps with the snipers pointing their rifles at his head. The communist bosses said ‘shoot’, the general said ‘Nyet’.

        We’ll shortly see.

By my count, Trump now has seven of the eight required wins with 50%+1 of the delegates. That’s the current threshold to have your name put in nomination. By comparison, Ted only has four of the eight needed.

      • Make America Mexico Again says:

Ted should get to eight barring a massive campaign collapse. Considering past results with geography and demographics, he should win Nebraska, South Dakota, Utah and Montana (not to mention North Dakota and Colorado have the party choose their delegations.)

The thing is that Trump has such formidable momentum that I actually doubt somewhat Cruz’s ability to get a majority delegate in any state going forward, especially under the scenario that Trump wins Florida, Illinois, North Carolina and Ohio.

A contested convention is fantasy unless they change the rules the day before the convention (which they’re allowed to do). There may not be any other candidate that meets the 8-state criteria.

      • My records show Ted has only 3: Please check against my records and correct me if this is wrong:

Cruz has 3 states which he got 51% of the DELEGATES:
        1) TX (104 out of 155)
        2) Kansas (24 out of 40),
        3) Idaho (20 out of 42)

NOTE: Cruz missed Maine (12 out of 23); and Alaska (12 out of 28)

        • Mudpie says:

I agree he did get 12 of 23 in Maine. I guess it’s all in how you take 50% of an odd number of delegates. I looked at it that Cruz and Kasich collectively got 11, and 12 was more than 11, but I see now if you multiply 23 by 50%, and round up, 12 is not 50%+1 of 23. Maybe he only has three. I like the sound of that better.

“Columnist at @bloombergview, former White House correspondent for TIME, TIME’s first woman columnist, and a panelist on CNN’s Capital Gang for 15 years.”

For misquoting a beloved Italian motto of the unknown soldier for attributing it to Mussolini. I blame some of these “journalist” lies and misinformation on the American educational system, which per Trump is now 35th in the world, even below some third world countries.

Perhaps it’s laziness, perhaps it’s putting more confidence in the internet searches they check their “facts” against, in this case Margaret Carlson just assumed “because it was on the internet makes it true.” Even the originator of the joke, his source was also a misquote from the internet. Another reason is their arrogance to not even research their “facts” before they malign a foreign country’s history. Passing on lies is the same as telling lies, at best is just plain GOSSIP! http://www.hannity.com/articles/election-493995/factcheck-is-the-quote-trump-retweeted-14432142#ixzz41kf04vM8

His job is to convince Americans that “issues” like transferring jobs and manufacturing, , the debt , open borders, are all minor happenstance instead of fundamental strategies to grind American down into little more than a UN nation -state.

The media is the lowest form of life in the cesspool – they hold a position of trust yet use it to advance lies – lies so sinister that they will tear away the most essential liberties and all that made the country great.

The First Amendment was to insulate and protect the press from control by central government. Now the media industry is indistinguishable from the government agendas..Voluntarily. What should that tell us?

A simple positive response to any of the threats which Cokie espoused is “we are legal citizen / residents!”… those that adhere to the Law have no fear of the Law.

      • Yeah, what the heck was THAT all about Cokie? She seems dangerous. Blaming things kids learn from their parents or adults on Trump? Then she blames it on “the white skinned” people? Kids say things in the reverse as well, there are black children that repeat things their parents or adults say.

Cokie is self-projecting her own myopic “snobby white world” onto Americans, Trump supporters, who are of all skin colors and races. I think she’s really sick. She’s really focused on skin color. And I believe those skin color fetishes were started by the lying media in the first place, which gave the narrative to other sick people who focus on skin color. Never once has Trump ever made any of this about skin color.

Cokie needs to come to Trump rallies and see all the different types of Americans support Trump. If she even wants, she can measure and grade each person’s skin color for her “records” she obviously keeps in her Mitt Romney myopic stiff mind!

          You got it, Monique.

I’ve noticed that the people who are herd followers, who try really really hard to fit in, can get into real binds when fashions change.

Where it might have been fashionable in their family decades ago to be prejudiced against darker-skinned people, those people have struggled extra-extra-hard to be prejudiced against lighter-skinned people now. That often appears ludicrous when these “new racists” are lighter-skinned themselves and simply missed the underlying principle. It isn’t that hard: judge people by their character and principles, not by their physical characteristics.

But the Cokies can’t grasp that; they don’t understand principles, only physical characteristics and money. So they swing around wildly trying to be correct in whatever racism they perceive as most currently fashionable. Boo! Hiss!

Since the US REQUIRES they have a right to trial for coming here illegally Trump can announce we are picking up illegals now and they will await trial at GITMO. Upon that announcement by our idiot press they will leave on their own accord to avoid GITMO. Sound simple enough? The educated idiots cannot understand how a country losing over 700 billion in trade EVERY YEAR is NOT good for our country. They THINK when Trump says NO MORE WE CANNOT AFFORD IT, we are re-negotiating our trade deals it will start a war. WRONG! He is preparing China, Japan, Mexico. Vietnam and India NOW for what is to come. Once it is done everybody will still be happy and making money with trade. The CAREER Politicians do not know how to negotiate a deal of any kind period. I understand that Trump feels the need to speak to the media, but I wish he would limit it somewhat until he at least after March 15. The media are out to trip him up (remember Tapper’s earpiece flap) and then they will go full throttle on the so-called flap of Trump’s and that will take him off of his message. The media are not his friends – he has done more than his share of interviews. The press forums that he has after he wins are the better route to go, IMHO. Don’t give the media any opportunity to twist what he says or edit what he says etc. In the pressers, Trump has the full command.

I posted on an earlier thread that all the GOPe and MSM have left, prior to Florida/Ohio primaries, is an “orchestrated malicious manufactured bombshell” with respect to the “race card” since Trump has done so well in States with high African-American populations. Florida/Ohio have higher percentages of such demographics than most of the States left. I expect this “manufactured bombshell” the 13th or 14th of March, which does not allow Trump the time to push back before the crucial primaries.

Another topic in these interviews is Rubio should drop out. Although one should never rule out stupidity, it would seem Rubio would greatly suffer if he doesn’t drop out and loses Florida (which he will lose if he stays in). The reason is reputation damage and loss of donor money.

Further, I can’t see Rubio being a lobbyist as that job requires someone to be a sharp hustler, not just someone with contacts. He just doesn’t come across as someone with that much energy.

And Kasich, another topic discussed in the interviews, did so poorly in Michigan that Ohio prospects don’t look promising. There is another that would best be served to not lose his state and instead hope for a VP pick by Trump.

It would be interesting to see if these clowns have any sense of self preservation going forward.

The look on her face was priceless. She tried the dreary old “for the children” ploy and she fell flat into her Gerber’s mashed peas. Trump left her sputtering with those evil eyes of hers.

There are a lot of candidates for Church Lady of the Year in “shaming” and tut-tutting the Vulgar Trump, but Cokie might have just blown away the competition.

A little perspective…I have a friend living in China, and when his absentee ballot arrived, his Chinese roommate asked if he could see it.

The roommate looked it over and KISSED the ballot.

So after all is said and done, and the nasty commercials, and the flotsam and jetsam of the political class and their toddler temper tantrums…it’s all pretty amazing.

But right now with the PC program we are very fast falling into totalitarianism…We already lost many aspects of our freedom of speech. If someone works in teaching position, they need to be very careful what they are saying to their students and truth is not important, what is important is PC.

My wife and her family came over from Russia several decades ago. We spent some time on vacation recently and my brother-in-law (a very smart, practical person who loves Trump) told me how freedom of speech was an important factor in coming to America, the idea that you could think and express your own thoughts.

But (he said) he has seen that all erode steadily to the point where America has become a silly place where silly things are more important than free speech and free thought. He was very clear that BO acts like a soviet communist and that “there is more to the story” about BO’s actual thoughts and agenda.

Interesting how many older Russian immigrants have a consistent attitude: what was the point in our coming here if the reasons are all being destroyed? They realize it is more complicated than that, but it is a notable if not bitter irony to them.

      • I adopted two children from foster care. They were 8 and 13. There sister who was also put in foster care was 5 years old and was already placed when I applied. By the time the state went through their process the parents had another baby that they were allowed to keep because they weren’t part of the original complaint.

My kids could never understand why they were taken and the baby wasn’t. They were so conflicted worrying about the baby on one side and thinking that maybe their parents didn’t do anything wrong or worse their parents didn’t love them or want them.

My youngest is 20 now and has been to 8 rehabs. Clean and sober for 2 years now but has severe anxiety issues, PTSD, obssessive compulsive disorder and many other diagnosis.

I blame the drugs. Their parents were addicts. Build that wall and save our children!

Today I had to pass through a medical waiting area and it was interesting, the public TV there was on a hunting program with scenes from Montana (usually it’s news, or soaps, etc.) Some guy was clacking deer antlers together to draw the deer bucks to the sound, and making deer noises. I thought about how very little I know about hunting (and Montana!) and how interesting it all looks. Your point is excellent — adaptation and skill are very different from being wishy-washy or bought

Any kid that says nasty things to other kids, no matter what, no matter how, no matter in what context is not OK, but we the ADULTS (´parents) have to take responsibility here, if our son or daughter behave like that journalist describe, it has to be corrected immediately, we can not blame Mr Trump´s message for it. Make it clear, it is nothing against immigrants, it is about ILLEGAL Immigration. We know we have to be careful how we talk and we express ourselves in front of children and that includes politics!!

First of all, Cokie Roberts is obnoxious!

Now that I got that off my chest, they’re all obnoxious!
Giggling and whispering while Trump was talking, interrupting, challenging….

I caught a few minutes of MJ this morning (missed the interview), and they were saying how Trump wouldn’t or couldn’t or didn’t answer Woodward’s question about Mexico paying for the wall.

Now that I heard the interview, I’m thinking Waltz Tango Foxtrot!

Trump kept trying to answer, started by saying there were five ways that Mexico would pay, and Woodward kept interrupting and not LETTING him answer, only to repeat his rhetorical vacuous question as a setup to later say that Trump couldn’t answer the question.

Well duh! How can he answer the question when you and your big mouthed colleagues are all flapping their jaws pretending to be so smart, the whole while sarcastically mocking Trump as he’s trying to answer seriously and directly??

Maybe we can just send all the illegals to Canada, since they are so much more enlightened than us. Oh, that’s right, Canada doesn’t allow immigrants unless they show they can support themselves.
