The local and state media in/around Burns Oregon have been putting fear into the hearts of many Harney county residents by claiming various bands of “armed militia” have been stalking residents of the community.  A typical example is HERE.

Amid these concerns and the promotion of community fear, the 67-year-old County Fire Chief, Chris Briels (on the job for three decades) responded to a call of “some militia guys poking around the local armory”.   However, what he discovered was far more troubling.

Chief Briels observed two men in the armory; he followed them and decided to pull them over and ask questions.  The men were very evasive and Briels became concerned about their intents and purpose – so he took a picture of the vehicle and tag.

Briels called in the tag number to the county LEO dispatch who ran a check of the plates and informed him the vehicle belonged to two undercover FBI agents.  Briels then went to the county judge, Steven Grasty.

Judge Grasty, also a county commissioner, along with Sheriff Dave Ward, are the county officials who have been promoting the community fear and telling the community about the dangerous militia.

When Chief Briels told Judge Grasty about the undercover FBI agents posing as militia, the fire chief was told to shut up and back off.  Fire Chief Briels told Judge Grasty he would not keep quiet and he was going to tell the public what was happening.

Briels then turned in his resignation, held a press conference (below) and informed the media around the Aamon Bundy group at the Malheur Wildlife Refuge (occupiers & their supporters) what was going on:

(Via Pete Santilli) […]  For many days now, we have seen the FBI covert deploy many resources upon the community such as human operatives, electronic surveillance & harassment, media propaganda and psychological warfare. It was not until today that a prominent community leader has presented indisputable testimony that FBI has been caught potentially staging a false flag event involving the local armory.

Former Fire Chief and Committee of Safety member gives a detailed account whereby he was informed that “militia were buzzing around the armory…” and he decided to investigate. As the Chief describers, when he ran the license plates of the subjects vehicles, it was confirmed that the suspicious subjects were undercover FBI. (link)

In addition to Chief Briels, the school superintendent has resigned along with the High School and Middle School principals (LINK).

Local Media Report:

[…]  Briels accused the Bureau of Land Management of land grabbing and supports the effort to hand over the land to ranchers, but he also feels betrayed by Grasty and other members of the county government, a first sign of fracture among local leaders.

Briels said Grasty confronted him when he questioned why some undercover FBI agents were at the county armory. He said Grasty told him to back off.

Briels is a member of the Community Committee for Public Safety, which is a local group that’s expressed interest in taking over for the Bundy protesters to work to reclaim local rancher’s land rights when and if they leave.

Briels, who has lived in Harney County since 1978, said his heart is hurt.  (read more)
