New CNN/ORC Poll: Donald Trump CRUSHES Field In Iowa – 33% and Climbing…

So much for that “Trump Ceiling” the professionally political media pundits keep telling us about, eh?   Not only does Trump lead the field in a large sample CNN/ORC poll (full pdf below), but he’s EXTENDING his lead:

Washington (CNN)Donald Trump’s support continues to grow among those who say they are likely to participate in February’s Iowa presidential caucuses and Ted Cruz is on the rise while Ben Carson loses ground in the state, a new CNN/ORC Poll finds.

Overall, Trump has 33% support among likely GOP caucusgoers, followed by Cruz at 20% with Carson at 16%, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio at 11% and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush at 4%. The new poll shows Trump up 8 points, Cruz up 9, while Carson has faded by 7 points, compared with the last CNN/ORC poll, conducted in late October and early November.

cnn orc poll december 7th

The poll finds a markedly different landscape among potential GOP caucusgoers than another Iowa poll released Monday by Monmouth University. The difference between the two seems to stem primarily from sampling.

The Monmouth poll interviewed a sample drawn from registered voter lists that primarily comprised those who had voted in state-level Republican primary elections in previous election years. Among those voters, Monmouth found Cruz and Rubio ahead of Trump and Carson. Among voters who were not regular GOP primary voters, however, the poll found Trump ahead, similar to the CNN/ORC poll’s finding.

The CNN/ORC Poll drew its sample from Iowa adults, asking those reached about their intention to participate in their caucus, interest in news about the caucuses, and past participation patterns to determine who would be a likely voter.

But still, Trump’s lead holds even among only those voters who express the most interest in attending the caucus or the most regular past participation in presidential caucuses. Among those in the CNN/ORC poll who say they definitely plan to attend the caucuses and are more interested in news about them than any other news story — a group which represents approximately 8% of Iowa adults — Trump’s lead grows to a 42% to 23% advantage over Cruz, with Rubio at 11% and Carson at 9%.

And among those who say they have participated in almost all of the caucuses for which they have been eligible — about 10% of Iowa adults — Trump leads 38% to 21% for Cruz, with Carson at 12% and Rubio at 11%.  (read more)

I wonder how much higher Trump’s numbers will go when people react to his proposal to shut down muslims entering the country? In simple, plain language, he said

The statement added that Trump’s proposal comes in response to the level of hatred among “large segments of the Muslim population” toward Americans.”Until we are able to determine and understand this problem and the dangerous threat it poses, our country cannot be the victims of horrendous attacks by people that believe only in jihad, and have no sense of reason or respect for human life,” Trump said in the statement.

Me too Ted says “this is not my policy”. Finally, Cruz loses the courage to imitate Trump. Bye bye, Teddy!

I may have to tune in to Limbaugh tomorrow to see his spin. According to his transcripts he has Cruz surging and beating Trump in Iowa.

It’s a good move by Trump. FBI indicates a high terror threat level through New Years. Another Islamic terrorist attack or release of San Bernardino terrorist GoPro video will put Trump’s poll numbers through the roof.

All MSM and the pundits are having a collective freak out about Trump’s new comment. They will talk about it non stop for a few days and Trump goes higher in polls. Just love this.

After watching ALL the Trump rallies in the state and seeing no such events happening there in honor of Cruz, that claim was quite difficult to believe.

I wonder how much higher his numbers will go after people react to his simple, common sense statement regarding those that do not like us? From the AP article Drudge posted:

The statement added that Trump’s proposal comes in response to the level of hatred among “large segments of the Muslim population” toward Americans.”Until we are able to determine and understand this problem and the dangerous threat it poses, our country cannot be the victims of horrendous attacks by people that believe only in jihad, and have no sense of reason or respect for human life,” Trump said in the statement.

It’s weird, they always have a nice thing to say about Cruz, but whenever Trump has a really good quote, or sound byte, they gleefully report on it. It’s almost like the reporters themselves want to come out as Trump supporters, but they can’t because of funder pressure.

What are the chances though that even though he’s clearly what the American people want, the GOP still won’t give him the nomination?

Zero. After Christmas you will see establishment types send Trump fruit baskets and asking to come to his campaign headquarters while waving white flags.

  9. starfcker says:

55 days, tick, tock. I talk to people everyday, who have no idea donald trump is about to pull a 50 state sweep in the republican primaries, by double digits. Look at the post debate polling, across the ideological spectrum (newsmax, drudge, cnn, salon), 50%+

  10. Rebel Mope says:

    From the Monmouth Poll:
“Trump will need a huge organizational effort to get independent voters to show up in a contest where they have historically participated in small numbers.”

I think it should read “YUGE”. Other than that I could take a sample of voters like that and make the case for anyone. I just read a story this morning about how the GOPe needed evangelicals to move from Carson to Cruz and low and behold…. amazing. Must be a debate on the horizon and they are setting up the deck chairs.

I stopped by Fox on my way to OAN this afternoon. Chris Stirewalt was hawking some kind of fuzzy math to Gretchen Carlson – I think it was “The 2016 Power Ranking” – which showed Trump in 4th place in Iowa, trailing Cruz, Rubio and someone else. I kept going after about a minute. Evidently they’re inventing news for their own lo-fo viewers, since the smarter ones have abandoned the network. I for one am Megyn Kelly-free for months now. And I don’t miss her in the least.

Stirewalt is so GOPe it is not even funny. He was the same way in 2012 going after every other candidate except Romney. He is getting ridiculous.

    • texasranchqueen says:

Boss, I was a nightly watcher of Megan Kelly. Since that first debate I can’t stand to even look at her, much less listen to her. I still watch Special Report with Bret Briar but take what they say with a grain of salt. It’s sad that we have no news media speaking out for Us. Listening to Tina Turner sing “Simply the Best”, all I could picture was “The Donald.” He is our modern day “knight on a white horse!”

      • The Boss says:

OAN has Graham Ledger up against O’Reilly and Cassie Leufen up against Kelly. That’s two hours of much improved viewing. I hope you have OAN available in your area. As for Bret, I don’t make a special effort any more. You’re right that he needs to be viewed more skeptically. He likes his job and his money, and he’ll be a good soldier.

Seems a little over the top. Trump may be saying he wants to halt all immigration until changes are made to the policy.

Agree. It will get yuge attention which is good but probably get nuanced to limiting immigration from certain countries. Meanwhile the issue will get debated and spotlight will stay on muzzies esp.since O said we will continue our policies and Lynch said “Muslim hate speech will be prosecuted”. This is a necessary and welcome development which won’t hurt Trump I believe

Just a few of the ‘below the headline’ numbers that illustrate why you will be seeing a crushing primary victory for Donald Trump.

    Economy – Trump 52% (lead 42%)
    Illegal immigration – Trump 49% (lead 33%)
    Foreign policy – Trump 30% (lead 9%)
ISIS (bombing the sh*t out of) – Trump 41% (lead 23%)

These kind of dominant numbers also show up in the national polls.

And remember this is all happening during the storm of media and GOPe attacks against Trump.

“Come December 15, Trump will be in decline…” – Jeb! November 16.

Surprising to nobody is that since November 16 Trump has gone up and Bush has gone down.

    “I’m typically not a very good pundit…” – Jeb! November 16.

Hilarious. Someone probably camped on that domain years ago. Jeb probably just went around it, but Trump probably bought it. It’d be funny if Trump told people to go to
