Sunday Open Thread – October 4th

tomb of the unknown - memorial dayOur Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.

For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

Not sure if anyone else visits Legal Insurrection (which made the Trayvon Martin case understandable from a legal perspective during trial), but lately the site has become very anti-Trump, pro GOPe to the point of being obnoxious, in my opinion. Am I missing something?

Use to check the right scoop a few times a week for news started noticing they were going anti trump that would not have been such a issue but saw mods taking trump statements out of context making a enquirer type lurid headline to trash trump. Appreciate reading here.

Truly. If the cases covering the tax code and medical malpractice were to disappear from their dockets, they’d be working at Walmart. Trump has said he will take on taxes and, if he’s serious about streamlining healthcare costs, the trial attorneys will take a big hit.

I love Prof. Jacobsen. He’s like many that have worked long and tirelessly to provide a forum for conservative opinions, and are now horrified that Trump has taken over the field from more attractive conservative candidates. They still believe Trump is part of the Kardashian culture, and think that Carson or Cruz or Carly can get the nomination.

I still enjoy College Insurrection and A.F. Branco’s cartoons, and we will need Andrew Branca’s legal advice as our guns get confiscated in 2017 by the new Secretary of the UN….

When democrats lose power they become angry temper tantrum throwing children, when republicans lose power they become petulant whinny children.

We are getting a taste of what will happen if they lose power at the same time, the angry temper tantrums are real as is the petulant whininess but both children know that they have just lost power to a sibling and that they are still part of the family.

Right now we have someone who is no blood relation to either party taking home all the prizes so all bets are off on what kind of hysterical behavior may ensue.

lovely, what a good assessment. So, any of you who are parents, uncle, aunts, etc, or have/had any contact with 3 yr old children, may 2yr olds growing into to 3yrs; start preparing for how you will handle the situation. It’s the same thing with animals. It’s the old “alpha” thing, who is the pack leader.

It is way past time we re-assert who is really in charge.

Thanks BigMamaTEA, my 3 year old niece told her mom that she didn’t want to go to tumbling, her mom took her anyway, the niece stood there with here arms crossed and eyes closed and whenever someone tried to engage her she said, “I am not here.”

I imagine when the republicans look at the polls they do much the same as my niece did.

Someone should tell the Reince that every time he crosses his arms and blinks his eyes Trumps goes up a point in the polls 🙂

We are getting Obamacare Media. There are only 6 viable Heath Insurance companies left too. There are six of these biggest health insurance companies: WellPoint, CIGNA, Aetna, Humana, United Healthcare and BlueCross BlueShield, although the latter works on a state-by-state basis. All of these mega public-private partnerships will now begin the process of merging over the next few years. Eventually we will end up with one media and one health insurance. I just hope people understand what is coming and why we have only one political party. The Uniparty.

Yeah, been watching the smaller companies drop out by the wayside. Obamacare has put handcuffs on physician-owned hospital groups – though they’ve found a way to prosper despite that, enjoying profit margins over three to five times that of community-based hospitals.
The question of physician-owned health insurance companies (doctor-owned HMOs) is another issue. Physician groups that own practices, insurance companies and hospitals (I use one of those) enjoy even greater returns though if patients suffer from these ‘all in one’ services is still up in the air.
The second-stringers who wrote Obamacare tried to put reins and a bit on US doctors only to find out that (duh) the dox are more smarterer than the DC drones. Then again, if the Dc drones were that smart they’d gotten the big bux to find these workarounds for the doctor guys.

My hospital group’s HUGE and (cough, cough) non-profit. They are also an ‘all in one’ and are competing with the state – Louisiana’s gone into the medical business. All considered I prefer mine to the states – actually I’d prefer a drunken Brujería to the state system.

Thanks. It’s been a few years, just letting people know you CAN die in 6 inches of water. Because I know I always would have driven through it before that happened. You can’t see if the road is washed away under dirty water.

They found the truck several miles downstream. 4WD can’t always save you. Better to go to a friend’s house and live to see another day.

I’m wondering if Donald Trump is running just to harvest support for Cruz? They’ve been really chummy since January 2014 when Trump donated 5k to Cruz’s PAC. Plus, neither one has yet to make one negative comment about the other (that I’ve heard) or really battled much against each other for votes since the campaign started. I truly hope this is not the case. I’ve been just sitting here in deep thought. Maybe it’s nothing?

It’s probably a gross violation of our shared trust but ever since an unfortunate but enjoyable stop at a country tavern while out buying gas I’ve had this David Allen Coe earworm just astuck in there for three days. I’m told the only way to get rid of it is to share it. Don’t click on it unless you’re willing to get shared but in all, you could become Coe-dependent. Y’all in the Utah NSA site will enjoy this:

  7. Last week I was critical of a good ad for Donald Trump because they chose to show Malania in a very low cut dress.
I said it was not wise to portray her as a sex symbol because the news media would use it against her and dredge up her past photos.
Well well, that didn’t take long!
I will say she looks beautiful, wholesome and first ladylike on the cover of People mag. Go Melania!

A man was walking along a California beach and stumbled upon an old lamp. He picked it up and rubbed it and out popped a genie.

The genie said “OK. OK. You released me from the lamp, blah, blah, blah. This is the 4th time this month and I’m getting a little sick of these wishes so you can forget about three. You only get one wish!

The man sat and thought about it for a while and said, “I’ve always wanted to go to Hawaii, but I’m scared to fly and I get very seasick. Could you build me a bridge to Hawaii so I can drive over there to visit?”

The genie laughed and said, “That’s impossible! Think of the logistics of that! How would the supports ever reach the bottom of the Pacific? Think of how much concrete . . how much steel!! No, think of another wish!”

The man said OK and tried to think of a really good wish. Finally, he said, “I’ve been married and divorced four times. My wives always said that I don’t care and that I’m insensitive. So, I wish that I could understand women . . . know how they feel inside and what they’re thinking when they give me the silent treatment . . .know why they’re crying, know what they really want when they say, ‘nothing’ . . . know how to make them truly happy . . .”

The genie said, “You want that bridge with two lanes or four?”

Some people understand things better in a video format, some by reading, some by art work, etc. But youtube, twitter, FB. Someday, might be an interesting sociology study.

Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your love and salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil. Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.

Help us to know whom You would have to be the leader of our Nation.

Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.

Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.

We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.

In Jesus name, we pray. Amen

I just watched the John Stossel show. Usually I don’t bother, but it just happened to be on and I started paying attention. The woman who was speaking was a young black woman and when I turned the sound on, I (bigotedly) expected to hear some of the BGI carp. But, nooooo. This is one says blacks need to quit being victims and live up to their potential. Next was a young North Korean girl who had ended up in sex slavery when she escaped N. Korea. I thought she was fascinating. I am going to try to remember to find a link to the show when it is available tomorrow.
Here is what Stossel wrote a few days ago on the subject of victimhood.
