It’s the humanitarian thing to do…. they say.  Think about the poor children… they say.  Sound familiar?  It should; it’s the exact same argument made last year when liberals were demanding the U.S. take in tens of thousands of Central/South American “children” refugees. It’s also complete and utter BS
Remember February: “ISLAMIC STATE THREATENS TO FLOOD EUROPE WITH REFUGEES” – We’re deep in the weeds currently translating Turkish, Greek, Hungarian and Syrian media reports.  What we are finding is a massive disinformation campaign, fraught with jaw dropping falsehood. (more on that tomorrow) In the interim:

martin o malleyWASHINGTON POST – Democratic presidential hopeful Martin O’Malley on Friday called for the United States to welcome at least 65,000 Syrian refugees by the end of next year, saying the country’s actions to date have fallen short of the values of “a generous and compassionate people.”

In arguing that the United States should take in far more than the 5,000 to 8,000 refugees currently planned, O’Malley, the former Maryland governor, pointed to the images this week of 3-year-old Aylan Kurdi, a Syrian refugee who washed up dead on a Turkish beach after a failed attempt to reach Greece. [Via Gates of Vienna]  […] A blogger from the Hungarian Counterjihad site Dzsihádfigyelő sent the following email with some illuminating statistics about Hungarian public opinion on immigration:

The graph shows a Hungarian opinion poll (taken by Republicon Institute) about refugees:

hungarian poll
Red: Refugees pose a danger to Hungary, so we must not allow them in the country.
Blue: Hungary is supposed/bound to accept/take in the refugees.
Fidesz-KDNP is the ruling party, the party of PM Orbán. Jobbik is the far-right party (second biggest party). They both oppose immigration. What is very interesting is that all the left-wing parties (MSZP [third biggest party, 64%! against migrants], DK, Együtt, LMP) fanatically support immigration against the wishes of their voters.
Altogether, 66% of the total population think that the refugees pose a threat to Hungary. (more)

Meanwhile, the story behind this image quoted by Martin O’Malley is totally false – Pure Pallywood:

turkey sympathy
A horrible story, yes.  A tragic story, again YES.  Heartbreaking, beyond YES.  But the family were not refugees, nor was the father with them; nor did they need to flee anything; nor were they desperate, homeless, poor, or other.  The media are selling a completely false narrative in an effort to make this child the face of a “humanitarian crisis”.
More tomorrow…..
