Donald Trump and Ted Cruz To Hold Joint Anti-Iran Deal Rally in Washington DC…

trump cruz 2WASHINGTON DC – Donald Trump and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) will jointly host a rally at the Capitol in the coming weeks to protest the nuclear deal with Iran, Cruz’s campaign said on Thursday.

A date for the presidential candidates’ event has yet to be announced, but its planning underscores the strengthening ties between the two Republicans.

Trump, the clear front-runner in the GOP primary, has refrained from launching his harshest barbs at Cruz, and the Texas senator has likewise declined to join in the attacks against Trump that have become common among many of their Republican rivals. Instead, Cruz has said he is “grateful” for Trump’s focus on immigration despite the controversial nature of his comments.

Like many Republicans, both candidates have blasted the Obama administration over the nuclear deal with Iran, which would set limits on the country’s ability to build a nuclear weapon in exchange for lifting sanctions on its oil and financial sectors.

Iran will become “so rich and powerful” once the deal goes into effect, Trump said in July.

“Ultimately, they’re going to have nukes all over the place,” he added.

Cruz, meanwhile, has called the deal “catastrophic” and “disastrous.”

Their rally will likely occur ahead of a congressional vote on the deal in mid-September, after two frenzied months of lobbying over the agreement.  (read more)

I am expecting at a near future point that Trump is going to offer a direct challenge to Iran to release the US prisoners before he becomes president. This may be the spot where he unleashes the challenge. I also bet that Trump is going to meet with Putin as well prior to that announcement.

This makes me really queasy. I confess that I don’t like or trust Ted Cruz, not only in my gut, but for a multitude (now) of duplicitous votes & positions he holds. Mr Trump, I hope, will proceed with caution.

IA with the queasy part, but for a different reason. I really don’t know enough about Cruz to know how I feel about him, my unease stems from of how many potential supporters trump could lose with a Cruz alliance. Particularly if he were to choose him as his running mate. I think if he does he will turn off many sitting on the fence, most importantly independents and crossover democrats. I have several democratic friends who always claimed they would have voted for McCain if he hadn’t picked Palin as a running mate.

I hope Trump gets the nomination and picks Susana Martinez. She may not be a purely orthodox conservative (I honestly don’t know), but she’s a two-fer-one demographically and a twice-elected Republican governor.

I call BS on this. No way, no how anyone who liked McCain would have voted Obama/Biden because of Palin. They are liberals therefore they are lying.

My top 2 from the gop field are Trump and Cruz. Under no circumstances will I vote for Bush – Rubio – Kasich. I lean negative on Rand and Fiorina. My preference is to see Cruz as AG with him turned loose with a flame thrower. A Trump Cruz ticket is a lot of red bloody meat to be sure.

“Particularly if he were to choose him as his running mate.” Cruz is ineligible, a foreign citizen until recently, with a foreign father at time of birth. He’s supposed to be a Constitutional expert, so deeply disingenuous.

Also, he stayed out of the fight when Republicans went after conservative primary challengers.

Not to mention his desire to quintuple tech visas. Or his wife’s work on integrating North America.

Not what he purports to be.

Correct. Especially concerned with Cruz’s wife, Heidi, who is a major player on Cruz campaign. Mrs Cruz is a CFR member (group in anti American), was management at Goldman Sachs (bailout recipient/Wall Street), and worked on North American Union. That is not Conservative nor American

I am concerned myself. Cruz may just be trying to get himself some
national recognition by attaching himself to Trump’s coattails. I like
Trump better as a solo act. However, Trump thus far has shown he
      knows what he is doing.

Cruz was my second choice until his recent interview with Megyn Kelly.

    • Two months ago I would have begged Trump to select Cruz as his running mate. Today I would beg him not to. Problem is, I don’t have anyone that I want to see on Trump’s ticket. How about you?

But, as far as my vote would go… I would vote for Trump, even if he had John Boehner on the ticket. But I would also advise the Donald to hire a few “Food Tasters”.

I have a sneaking suspicion he might tap Carson. Trump hasn’t really addressed any Black issues as yet, while Carson sort of took the high road with a downplay (sort of anyway) of the BLM while still showing some unity with theBlack community.

Pulling Carson in might garner needed Black votes without Trump having to address them or attempt to appease them, (the issues that is). He can leave that to Carson….

JMHO but it would be a stepping stone away from Obama & his policies while still having a Black voice in office. Seems to me to be a logical move.

Hey, but what do I know…..LOL

Cruz is of Cuban extraction. I think Mexican-Americans may hold little particular affinity for Cubans. I think Susana Martinez has alluded to her grandparents having been illegal immigrants. Picking her could alleviate some fears of Trump wanting to rescind or redefine citizenship retroactively.

Ideally, Trump picks Cruz as VP, then nominates him to first open SCOTUS position in his administration. Once Cruz confirmed (he also has the tie-breaking vote in Senate), Trump pulls an outsider – ball-busting Conservative as VP to completely bypass the political machines and groom for 2020 (if he chooses not to run) or 2024 POTUS.

In any case it looks like they formed an alliance and it has been in effect even before the first Republican debate on Fox.

Problem for me is this is just a “show” event. Corker made sure the Iran Deal will be passed. Cruz knows it, Trump knows it and WE know Israel will be sold down the river.

NO ONE has done a thing to stop it. In fact, Corker made d@mn sure Iran would get nukes by changing the rules requiring the POS to get 67% approval for the deal.

Through the use of tortured language, much like that in Obamacare, the bill needs only a third of the Senate to pass.

I like this 🙂 I like that they’re friends. I don’t really want Cruz to be VP, but I hope he can be Attorney Gen or Majority Leader of the Senate (with a President Trump, Trump will work around Mitch if he’s still Leader and Cruz could be his go-to guy making him a Shadow Leader).

As for VP, I hope Trump picks someone in his inner circle, someone JUST LIKE HIM. See, I’m already thinking eight years from now: after Trump, who do we get as good as him? His inner circle has a lot of people like him. Roger Stone, or someone we don’t even know the name of yet. I don’t want Trump to pick someone based on ID politics: I don’t want a woman just to get a woman, I don’t want a Latino/a just to get a Latino/a.

    OR

I watched two videos of Ann Coulter on youtube last night — her interview on CSPAN with Ben Shapiro and her interview with Larry Elder — she said Trump got an advanced copy of her Adios America and said he loved it. Listening to her (I haven’t gotten the book yet) you can HEAR Trump in what she says. He really read that book! He echoes so much.

So… you know who I’m thinking of for Veep? ANN COULTER.

I actually have a ton of faith in him and why I don’t clutch my pearls when it seems like he’s made a mistake. I’m perfectly happy letting him choose, I’m just saying that I’m no longer on the bandwagon of Cruz as VP (and Trump certainly hasn’t said he wants Cruz yet), that I’d be happy if Trump chooses someone completely unknown to us, or someone completely outside-the-box like Ann. I’m just daydreaming out loud.

Trump has THE biggest platform in the world right now. He may as well go on the record of being stridently against the deal with Iran.

Also, I’ve noticed that he seems to infuse people with a backbone: Cruz & Hannity for example. I’m thinking maybe he’s hoping to give some Congress-critters ammo to vote against this deal.

Trump is displaying what Trump does best by joining with Cruz against a deal with Iran…by “any means necessary” to do what is good for America. Trump might not agree with Cruz on many different issues but they can come together for a greater purpose. In fact, we just might see some Democrats join them at the demonstration.

Cpl of problems with Cruz for me. His wife job (I believe she is actually a VP) and most recently the Corker Bill. NO EXCUSE acceptable for that!
When Cruz threw in his hat for prez it made no sense. HE KNOWS he is not eligible.
My thinking – his plan was to go a long way into the process then do the honorable thing and say I’m not qualified – please take your votes to (a good conservative).
Obviously Trump messed that plan up if it ever was one!

What I LIKE about this anti-iran rally – several things –
I believe Senate is still a few votes away from it being a done deal.
If the rally is big enough (which you can bet it will be) there might be a couple of the still undecideds (read that as the bribes haven’t been big enough yet) who will not vote for it.
Possibly even a few who have already committed to a yes vote who would change their minds.

Most what I like about it is that while Trump has said a lot of things that have pleased conservatives, talk is cheap!
Sixteen months of just hearing him talk/make promises changes nothing, meantime our country continues to be destroyed!
    Actions count!
His trip to the border was a yawner.
This is true ACTION on an issue that Americans are very, very concerned about! The turnout is going to rival that first tea party in DC.
It is brilliant and the man just went way up in my eyes.
