EPIC – Debbie Wasserman-Schultz Can’t Define Difference Between Socialist and Democrat….

The reason the head of the DNC cannot tell the difference is because in 2015 the Democrat party has moved so far to the left, they are now fully immersed socialists.

Remember the “blue dog democrats”? It might seem like a lifetime ago, but the “blue dogs” were the democrat candidates who won election victory in 2006 and tipped the scales of power to Nancy Pelosi.

Less than four years later (two House election cycles), and due entirely to the socialist policies enacted by Nancy Pelosi and company, the “blue dog dems” were totally wiped out in 2010.

Dumb as a post. She doesn’t know the difference OR isn’t smart enough to try and create the appearance of a difference. She did kinda out Progressives as being Socialists, which is accidentally honest.

She is a perfect example of the mindless robots that make up the democrat party. She can’t tell the difference between a democrat and a socialist because there is no difference. Good grief! Is there something in the environment we’re exposed to that is causing everyone to lose their minds??? Honestly folks. The country is over! If this is the best we can send to Washington to represent us, stick a fork in us. We’re done!

Harry Truman once said that when he was sworn in as a U.S. Senator in January of 1935 he said to himself, “I can’t believe I got here”. He said after six months, he said to himself, “I can’t believe they got here”. With some qualifications, I think the quality of human being we generate in this country had declined considerably since 1935. However, the stupefying qualities of Congress (whatever the context) remain a constant.

Oh I’m sure DWS knows the traditional difference, just as she knows there’s presently no definable difference between socialists and their party radicals and that’s a topic the DNC doesn’t want to rear with its conservative base ! As others have noted the radicalization of the Democratic Party threatens to cost them a large segment of their traditional base. Another reason why a Trump candidacy scares the h*ll out of them, much as it does the RNC and GOP managers.

I agree in the sense that DWS may known the theoretical difference between a democrat and a socialist, but certainly she or no one else in leadership in the Democratic Party can tell you any difference between what the party stands for and most accepted definitions or democratic socialism or social democracy (because for the most part, there isn’t any difference).

There might have been a difference 40 years ago. However, I think European socialists have lost interest in state-owned industry if not public housing and residual state industrial portfolios are legacy portfolios. Also,I think national elected officials in Europe tended to be conversant with main currents in social theory and would declare allegiance to one or the other, whereas American officials tended to get their politics from family and friends; contemporary and living figures like Milton Friedman or John Rawls would matter a great deal more than Marx or Burke (to the extent anyone mattered).

I don’t think he thought he was going after her. He said he thinks there is a huge difference between Democrats and socialists. He may have thought he was giving her a softball question so she could explain how Republicans are “stupid” for saying there’s no difference. The problem for her is that there really isn’t a difference any more, and she apparently knows it.

It’s all about money. It’s all about power. Democrat vs. Republican, two sides of the same coin. The same wealthy donors support both fake parties so that they win no matter what. Don’t believe me? Take a look at the Republican majority. What have they done with their full power to reverse anything the Democrats advanced? NOTHING. If anything, they just add to the Democrats.

Her non-answer, pay no attention to the what the right hand is doing sort of dodging is precisely why Trump is kicking it in the polls.

Pay attention. THIS whether you vote D or R, is precisely what you’re voting for.

Matthews was trying to draw DWS out to make his interview with her be worth watching. She was being evasive for the reason cited: effectively there’s no difference between Democrats and socialists. The Democratic Party is a huge umbrella party for everyone who is left of center politically. The umbrella covers socialists of every stripe including communists.

Members of the Communist Party, USA, for example, function under the Democratic Party umbrella. Communists in this country haven’t disappeared; they’re working within the Democratic Party to attain their ends. When Barack Obama lived and worked in Illinois he reportedly was a member of the New Party, which was (is?) a socialist party. Naturally, anyone from a Marxist/communist background will be a member of the Democratic Party.

The difference between Democrats and socialists is that Democrats endorse a class of rulers and sycophants siphoning the cream off the top of the communal milk can before distributing the milk to the populace. That happens in socialism also, but it is generally regarded as corruption. Hillary Clinton is a Democrat, Bernie Sanders is a socialist. Hillary’s usual bribe for making a single speech is more than Bernie’s entire net worth.

Michael, the membership of the Communist Party went from 100,000 in 1947 to about 16,000 in 1972 to a three-digit number in 1992. They were never consequential after about 1949.

Norman Mattoon Thomas, six-time Socialist Party presidential candidate, famously said, “The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism; but, under the name of liberalism, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program until, one day, America will be a socialist nation without ever knowing how it happened.” He also said, “I no longer need to run as a presidential candidate for the Socialist Party. The Democrat Party has adopted our platform.” These quotes are both from 1948, indicating the probable cause of the numbers you have cited.

        • Yup. The socialists dropped their uniforms just like Saddam’s army did when we liberated Iraq. But that didn’t mean they weren’t still there, or stopped fighting. Ditto for the reds who have infiltrated every aspect of our society.

The only difference now is that they have adopted the chic moniker “Progressives”. The under 30 crowd finds that name much more appealing, and their parents don’t freak out at Thanksgiving dinner when the kids tell them what “party” they belong to.

“Communist Party …never consequential after about 1949.”

Seems to me they have been plenty consequential; they (Communists/Marxists/Socialists) are firmly entrenched in our government, our schools, and our unions. They just don’t wave around their little red books or their membership cards; why advertise what you really are, when you’re a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

As a party they declined in numbers, but it was pointless to try to maintain a large Communist Party membership when their goals, objectives and programs were being realized within the Democratic Party. You are right: “Seems to me they have been plenty consequential; they (Communists/Marxists/Socialists) are firmly entrenched in our government, our schools, and our unions.”

She’s a pure career politician. She even has a post-baccalaureate certificate in ‘political campaigning’. She’s held public office since the age of 26. It’s a reasonable wager she has very deficient liberal education, no practical education to speak of, and is simply an aggressive subcultural warrior who subscribes to the day’s talking points and to the credo of her tribe. In many respects, she’s the echt partisan Democrat.

Oh, and before she was elected to public office, she was a legislative aid. Essentially, she’s been drawing a salary from political activity since she was 22 years old and never studied anything else or did anything bar some temporary and seasonal wage work.

“For the first time in my life I am proud of” Chrissy Matthews here. One almost gets the idea he is a “bit” concerned that his party looks like Socialists. I said almost. Justice_099 is probably more correct – “I would suggest that he is just a Hillary supporter and just taking a pot-shot at Bernie here. In that, he inadvertently let some truth slip.”
