Black male walks up to random couple walking, takes out a shotgun and blasts the female in the back of the head.
The victim has been identified as Carrie Jean Melvin, age 30.
Even though police are desperately asking for help from the public, the article below -and media broadcast- does not give a full description of the suspect. To find that out, yet again, you’d have to scour around:
On July 5, 2015, around 10:12 p.m., Hollywood Area officers responded to a radio call of a shooting in the area of Sunset Boulevard and McCadden Place. Officers found that a female in her 30s had been shot while walking with her companion on McCadden Place toward Sunset Boulevard when an unidentified male Black approached on foot and shot the victim. The suspect left northbound on McCadden Place in a black sedan. (link)

That would involve planning. The difficult job of unraveling the truths in this… this is quite disturbing.
The questions I find myself asking, if this were some “rampage” type thing, why just the one victim? It does send A message, not sure which message gets absorbed.
A shotgun? Not really in line with typical “random” shootings.
The rabbit holes this investigation will have to crawl….

Columbia MD mall went on lockdown last year when a black male, mall rat, brought in a shotgun and killed two young white skateboard store employees, woman and man. Nothing was mentioned about this after the next day despite his diary saying he hated certain groups.

I agree JP !! Unfortunately this the most difficult of crimes to solve unless investigators can find video footage of the crime/perp. Lacking that, police have to pursue the SOPs ( MMO) and trying to find some linkage between the victim, (or her companion or friends) and possible suspects.
OTOH, a ‘random’ homicide of this nature, combined with the dearth of forensic evidence because of the weapon used is going to make finding the perps (somebody had to drive the car) difficult. I don’t believe this attack was “random” but a crime of opportunity where the victim(s) met certain criteria.

While living in san francisco during the course of 15 years my redhead sister was randomly punched in the face and head twice while walking on busy sidewalks in broad daylight downtown shopping. She never saw it coming. Once by a black man. Once by a black woman.
They did not say anything in either case. Just took a swing at a very white girl for no reason other than pure racial hatred. And then just kept walking like nothing happened.

I’ve honestly seen more black racism against whites; in fact I’ve never seen white racism against blacks. One example: I was walking in downtown Seattle during the day, minding my own business, when a black thug yelled at me “What are you looking at bth?”. I just continued walking and didn’t reply to him since I sure wasn’t looking at him. I’m half American Indian and half Scandinavian and look Caucasian. I’ve never been racist.

I live a short distance from Hollyweird and avoid that area like the plague. Every time I’m forced to drive through the area, I get an insatiable urge to get in the bathtub and scrub myself with bleach. I don’t know what people like from this dump that greets you with smells like urine, vomit and feces.

I fully agree, Davis. I was near Mann’s Theatre in the early 90’s, taking a pic of Julie Andrew’s star. Some homeless man ran over, grabbed me, & stuck his filthy tongue down my throat. Not a police officer to be seen. Wasn’t safe then. Sadly, nothing’s changed.
This lovely girl, full of promise. Her life ahead of her. Taken away by some piece of scum. Just shocking. My heart and prayers go out to the family. This world has gone so scary.

A big problem is that no one knows this is happening. I saw the twitter feed last night and knew I had some reading to do this morning but otherwise I would have no knowledge of this senseless crime. My American Flag is flying proudly on the front of my house, in the meantime the country I’m so proud of is a subtle war zone full of hate that I don’t even know about, let alone understand.
Racism and the charges that all white people are racist infuriate me but it is becoming clearer every day that racism is being fostered and cultivated so that the constant unrest brews.
