tomb of the unknown - memorial dayOur Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.

For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen โ€

Generally speaking, not really. You have to run into these ‘people’ on the street and work with them to see where this goes. Crack and heroin abusers will sell themselves and their children, literally, for a fix. Those top-end drugs become THE focal points in their lives and even years after kicking them, the few heavy users that do, they still run the risk of going back to using. I had a few heavy users around two major avenues in NOLA that would buy drugs rather than eat, wasn’t unusual for EMTs to be called out to snatch up users who were on death’s door due to malnutrition – they’d rather starve than forgo that fix.
The public seems to feel that all we need to do is take them in, give them a warm, clean bed and some hugs and they’ll all be better,. T’aint so, the heavier users will frequently go right back to heroin abuse even though it may a take a while. Even when ‘clean’ and given a choice far too many decide that the drug, rather than a straight life, is the better choice.

I was of the mind, along with a lot of others, that the penalty for selling heroin should be summary execution or at least a trial immediately followed by execution. Then again I was too close to the issue to see the greater truth.

And y’all remember a bit back I posted on how the WHO, State and DEA all know that a newer and mo’ potent bio-engineered Afghan opium crop will be in the market this year. Strange how the major organizations that are charged with protecting s from the tsunami of drugs KNOW that a larger crop of more potent heroin will be flooding the international market, know exactly where these poppies are being grown, yet will allow the crops to grow undisturbed, their profits go to various criminal and terrorist organizations yet do NOTHING until it comes toi expanding (fruitlessly) huge sums to try and interdict at the street levels. Hmmmmmm…..sure be con-fuusin to a po’ guy like me…

When you work in the area you have no doubt that BIG people are facilitating (and profiting) from the trade. Most recent example is early on in our Afghanistan invasion where, right behind US armor as the Taliban was driven back, the Afghans were replanting their opium crops. The US commander there was sorely pissed that the poppies were going in and ordered herbicides and spray equipment for the Blackhawks, he was going to whack the crops. State stopped him as they thought that the Afghan farmers would starve as they had no other crops to plant – howzat? Every year since then the drones have photographed and measured the steadily increasing opium crops and nothing’s been done to stop them.
I can go back to the huge opium crops during Vietnam that we knew about and didn’t do **** about, the chance one Asian drug lord gave up to buy his entire huge opium crop and stop it from coming into the US and Europe as heroin – we refused, the blatant connection between Cuba and the US drug trade, how teh Russians bought and processed opium into heroin to infect Europe, TONS of stuff yet what are you going to do? War on Drugs is some 45 years old now and billions have been spent to support it yet, as you’ll see on the DEA website, the price of a kilo of cocaine (even adjusted for inflation) has dropped has dropped over that period.

The IRS scandal just wonโ€™t go away — kind of like Watergate. The media knew about Watergate for many months, wrote about it, it simmered, it boiled, then it turned into a bigger-than-life scandal that destroyed Nixonโ€™s presidency. Could that be a repeat of how the Obama IRS scandal is playing out?

    Wow.

What if President Obama secretly agreed with others in the government in 2011 to provide arms to rebels in Libya and Syria? What if the scheme called for American arms merchants to sell serious American military hardware to the government of Qatar, which would and did transfer it to rebel groups? What if the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of the Treasury approved those sales?

What if the approvals were kept secret because some of those rebel groups were characterized by the same Departments of State and Treasury as terrorist organizations? What if the ultimate recipients of those arms were the militants and monsters in al Qaeda and ISIS who have slain and tortured innocents?

What if this scheme is defined in federal law as providing material assistance to terrorist organizations? What if thatโ€™s a felony? What if thatโ€™s the same felony for which the U.S. Department of Justice has prosecuted dozens of persons merely for attempting? What if this scheme was not a mere attempt, but an actual arming of terrorists?

What if this scheme was approved not only by the president, but also by Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton? What if the idea of doing this was hers? What if congressional leaders in both houses of Congress and from both parties signed off on this? What if the remaining members of Congress and the American people were kept in the dark about this scheme? What if those who agreed to permit this scheme knew that the arms were destined for terrorist organizations and they were flirting with a criminal conspiracy to violate federal law?

It just keeps getting better from there.
