Bumper Sticker Of The Day…

About Patriot Dreamer

“When you see that trading is done, not by consent, but by compulsion – when you see that in order to produce, you need to obtain permission from men who produce nothing – when you see that money is flowing to those who deal, not in goods, but in favors – when you see that men get richer by graft and by pull than by work, and your laws don’t protect you against them, but protect them against you – when you see corruption being rewarded and honesty becoming a self-sacrifice – you may know that your society is doomed.” ~Ayn Rand *************************************************** In the battle between good intentions vs. unintended consequences….UC always win. ~Sharon

I heard on the radio that one of the founders of the ACLU, Roger Baldwin, had been a Christian until he read Neitzsche’s, “On the Genealogy of Morality”.

So of course I had to read it, since I need to be reasoned out of this Christian nonsense because just telling me it’s nonsense doesn’t work.

Sadly, Neitzsche was not up to the task. He started with dubious premises and wandered off into the weeds, all the while muttering how superior he was.

So how did it make Baldwin lose his faith? He was a Unitarian Universalist; maybe that’s part of it.

I remain a fool for Christ.

God is just trying to hold to “the prime directive.” It is a hard row to hoe.

      Friedrich Nietzsche:
Certain aspects of Nietzsche’s work were used by the Nazi Party of the 1930s–’40s as justification for its activities.
In the last decade of his life he suffered from insanity. God’s payback?

Alright. Back story. Back in the late 1960’s I was attending grammar school in New Orleans and would walk or ride my bike down Calhoun Street every morning to get to there. Immediately adjacent to the school I attended were two schools of “higher learning”, Tulane and Loyola – lots of young, budding intellectuals. One morning I noted a bumper sticker on a car that read, “God is dead, Nietzsche”. Being very young, innocent, and Catholic I was quite upset and insulted. Who was this fool? Some time later I was taking my familiar route to school and noticed a car parked right behind the offensive Nietzsche bumper sticker sporting an answering bumper sticker, “Nietzsche is DEFINITELY dead, God” I have shared that story for many years on the web and without the “DEFINITELY” it just doesn’t have the right impact.
