National Archives and Records Administration: “We live in constant fear of upsetting the WH (White House).”

Obama Angry Rally(Via Washington Free Beacon) The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) tried to hide an email about its fear of upsetting the White House from Freedom of Information Act requests by the Associated Press, the AP reported Friday.

Associated Press president Gary Pruitt reported in an op-ed on government transparency that, during the course of an AP investigation into Michelle Obama’s dresses, NARA used a privacy exemption to redact a line in an email that was actually about the agency’s fear of the White House:

As the president said, the United States should not withhold or censor government files merely because they might be embarrassing.

But it happens anyway.

In government emails that AP obtained in reporting about who pays for Michelle Obama’s expensive dresses, the National Archives and Records Administration blacked out one sentence repeatedly, citing a part of the law intended to shield personal information such as Social Security numbers or home addresses.

The blacked-out sentence? The government slipped and let it through on one page of the redacted documents: “We live in constant fear of upsetting the WH (White House).”

Upon taking office, President Obama pledged to run the “most transparent administration in history.” (read more)

In a healthy and free REPUBLIC where there is sunshine on government and accountability for wayward bureaucrats the white house and all other bureaucrats are the ones that would have a constant fear about upsetting THE PEOPLE. For it to be so much the other way around tells something very negative about the true “state of the union”.

If you elect a communist revolutionary president this is SOP. Then when he is exposed they panic. It can not possibly end well. It is a complete failure of the highest magnitude.

“Hell no, we won’t go!” “Sex, drugs and rock ‘n roll!” “Make love, not war!”

A generation of narcissists now run the show…what else should one or could one expect from such a mindset?

Throw the bums out! Including those old bulls within Congress…perhaps especially those old bulls (like Hatch…who intends to vote for Lynch as Attorney General)!

For a government agency to admit their people “live in constant fear” of a sitting US President and his minions should alarm every American. The clear inference is that they fear retaliation from TYRANTS.

Which begs the question, if Valerie Jarrett and Michelle Obama decide they don’t want to go who is going to make them?

Boner and Senator Turtle called – they said they’d like to help, but that this wasn’t the hill to die on. However, they said that they’d really get it done next time…

A big chunk of the ‘classification’ system is to withhold official attribution to facts already out there in the wind. The facts are out there in print, ink or pixels, but we tend to not believe it until someone in an ‘official’ position in empowered government says so – even though we generally don’t trust the government. If the NARA, or any other section of the government, redacts, withholds, diddles with – however you want to put it – how are we to know? If we don’t know and ask the Feds to provide the information we don’t know that what they are providing is the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the CYA it may be.
If these upper and mid-level bureaucrats fully comply with a law like the FOIA and end up POing some bigger fish they may just find their desks out in the hallway morning next. They may have some fuzzy and bendable instructions as to their public responsibilities but responsibility #1 is to anyone in their uphill fecal chain that might roll downhill and over them. They review those requested files for classified information, personally identifying information and information that may prove embarrassing to people with a long reach. Withholding info is a bureaucratic tactic that stretches out the acquisition time – you have to know what’s missing and not only ask for it but justify why you need it and practically walk them by the hand to where it’s at. Obfuscation and delay are primary tools in the government black bag.
I find it amazing that you can have such difficulty in prying a simple set of emails out of some blustering GS-7 file puke while thieves can wholesale steal armloads of national treasurers from the Federal depositories charged with protecting them.

  15. Who cares about Michelle Obama’s dresses??? You can’t dress up a worthless human being. We already know she spends millions in tax dollars every year on personal enjoyment. This is more of the same. I don’t care how much whoever (probably us) pays for her clothing spends, she’s ugly on the inside, the outside doesn’t matter.

  16. BTW, we all live in fear of this regime.

Photos with HATE on their faces are so numerous it’s hard for them to lie if Americans are watching body language but most aren’t. They possess hate too and identify readily. We all get angry but the frequency is what belies the constancy of their emotion.

A motley board of their happy faces grinning or smiling would not be much better because their expressions would belie evil and duplicitous self serving expressions.
