I make no attempt to hide my hopeful view of Egyptian President and Muslim leader Fattah el-Sisi.  I had given up believing in a modern secular Muslim leader, until we discovered el-Sisi

Having watched and researched the entirety of the mid-East Islamist Spring from well before it even appeared on the horizon of Western interest, there was an overwhelming sense of dismay -albeit within a small circle- at a very predictable chain of events. 

As a direct consequence of President Obama’s 2009 efforts – by the end of 2011 things actually seemed hopeless.  Syria began their civil war; Bahrain was trying to stop one from starting; Iran had killed/jailed the freedom alliance (Green Movement); Tunis was in a state of turmoil; U.S. policy was destroying stability in Libya; Yemen was in crisis mode;  Saudi Arabia was pumping money into their citizenry to stop anxiety; and Egypt was being leveraged to the Muslim Brotherhood.

When you look at those events from the perspective of the average person, the family trying to do their best to give their kids a better life, things were beyond grim…. it wasn’t an “Arab Spring”, it was an Islamist Spring – and the dark forces of hate, pride, envy and anger all seemed to be relishing in the bloodshed…

When you consider the humanity being destoryed, it genuinely seemed overwhelming and potentially hopeless.   Obama’s support for President Morsi in Egypt only made matters worse.  Christians were being crucified to trees on the street in front of Morsi’s state residence.  Horrific. 

Into this madness came Egyptian General Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, who saw the majority in tears, heard the voice of the people and actually -at great risk to himself- put his own life on the line to lead a change in government. 

Few in the West even knew who he was.  Most of the media got him completely wrong.  He is by no means perfect, but what makes el-Sisi different is his servant mind, his humility to lead – his commitment to the minority, the legal and peaceful minority. 

Tentatively hope found a way to resurface.  Slowly, hour-by-hour, then day-by-day, then week by week.  Eventually, stability was restored.

While things are still tenuous, and there are rabidly evil forces who would love to see Sisi destroyed, many more people in the Western world are beginning to take notice.

(Via Truth Revolt) Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, courageously leading the way to combat Islamic extremism, said on a national broadcast Sunday that Arab countries should create a joint military force to fight terrorist groups. El-Sisi said, “The need for a unified Arab force is growing and becoming more pressing every day.”  After 21 Egyptian Coptic Christians were beheaded, the Egyptian air force started bombing targets believed to be held by terrorists in the northeast Libyan city of Derna.

Rumors of a joint Arab military force comprised of Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait came to light recently, but Sisi’s statement was the first time the subject had been broached publicly. He said Egypt had received offers of support from Jordan and the UAE.

Also on Sunday, el-Sisi was joined in his perspective by Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayeb, the grand imam of Cairo’s al-Azhar University, Egypt’s most important Islamic institution, who said in Mecca that terrorists and extremists based their views on “misguided” forms of Islam.

The Gatestone Institute pointed out why el-Sisi’s relations with the Obama Administration have been poor: “The treachery of the U.S. Administration is the reason why Egypt’s faith in the United States, which is supposed to defend the Arabs against a nuclear Iran, has effectively evaporated … The Muslim Brotherhood knows that behind the scenes, U.S. President Obama supports the movement, especially the branch in Egypt seeking to overthrow President Sisi. This approval from the U.S. encourages the Muslim Brotherhood to be even more determined to subvert and undermine Egypt’s stability, sabotage its economic rehabilitation and destroy the el-Sisi regime.”

Gatestone continued, “It is possible, in fact, that U.S. policy is to weaken the Sunni world that is seeking to unite under el-Sisi’s flag of modernity. With European complicity, the U.S. Administration is trying to defraud the Arabs and turn the Israeli-Palestinian conflict into a center of Middle Eastern chaos, in order to hide the nuclear deal they are concocting with Iran.”  (read more)
