700,000+ Rally Support Against Terrorists In France…

Paris (AFP) – More than 700,000 people on Saturday took to streets across France in tribute to the 17 people killed in three days of violence by Islamist extremists, the interior minister said.

From Nice and Marseilles in the south to Besancon in the east and Lille in the north, people poured onto the streets to express their solidarity following Wednesday’s attack on the satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo that left 12 dead. The massacre was followed by the fatal shooting of a police officer on Thursday and the murder of four hostages during a siege at a Jewish supermarket on Friday.

“700,000 people have marched” in cities around France, Bernard Cazeneuve told reporters on the eve of a huge Paris rally planned due to be attended by a string of world leaders. (read more)

The French know how to gather in protest. Wish we had that tradition. If we could just get a couple of million people to march up the Rotunda steps, I think we could effect real change in D.C.

    700,000 “Rally Support Against Terrorists”

Big deal. People gathered. People marched. People waved signs, But what did they actually DO that will have ANY effect on terrorism? NOTHING

Soon their “indignation” will seem like too big of a burden, and they will cast it aside in favor of rhetoric that demands “Unity” with, and “Equality” for the very same people who want to paint the towns with the blood of the European French. Stupid liberals.

Wake me up if they finally decide to FIGHT for their country, instead of just hoping this will all go away.

I must defend the supporters who exited their hamster wheels and made an effort to march in solidarity. They walked away from their computers & actually smelled oxygen. The ones that I refuse to defend are the HASHTAG fanatics, who believe they are making huge contribution to the “cause”.

Liberals will never admit that the social experiment they have so long heralded is unworkable. They would rather die on principle than admit they have a problem.

    • I hate my knee jerk reaction to things sometimes….but round up all the Muslims and put them somewhere. They obviously don’t like where they are because they keep terrorizing everyone….

Agree. Ineffective, Western symbolism. Protests may send a message to politicians, and can work when cultural “shaming” can influence actions. I imagine a Jihadist looks at this like a fisherman looks at a “bait ball” of schooling fish.

The mass peaceful protests do not mean a hill of beans to the politicos or the terrorists. Peaceful assembly does not translate into electoral anything, as there is no cohesive ideology behind these massings. Anti terrorism? Pro Charlie Hebdo? Cause of the day?

Bottom line is that the powers that be (TPTB) have funded, encouraged and nurtured the elements from within and without to act as the hammer on their anvil against the people. It is no great mystery that the Oval Orifice has supported ISIS, MB and many others. The Pretendident just saved the life of the Murdering Major Hassan, sends untold cash to the Palestinian Authority, and many more for sake of brevity I’ll leave to you to sort out.

It is no different in France. Lead the opposition to run the table on the dupes, saps and sheep at the table.

I think the marches are important, because the far Left lives and breathes by enforcing group think. They thrive by peeling off people and making them feel that they are in the minority when in fact, it is the Left that is the minority. Marches like this are important for morale, just as well for the opposition to understand that they won’t be allowed to continue to nudge, nudge, nudge public perception into capitulation.

Wake ME up when large swaths of people decide to FIGHT for THEIR country here, too. How many people openly advocate and fight against the incursion of leftist ideology in our schools, our workplaces, even what is presented on the packaging at the supermarket for crying out loud. WE here are in NO POSITION to excoriate the people of France for the situation they find themselves in. WE ARE FRANCE, only about 5 – 10 years behind them. The enemy is cozy here too. Dearbornistan? anyone? Tell me why key passages of the 9-11 report that implicated the Saudis was not only redacted, but kept from the American public. Why does CAIR have so much influence to threaten and intimidate? Why is it okay that an Islamic terrorist was not only pampered in the US Navy, but his vicious attacks were deemed WORKPLACE violence.

“WE” are the last people to be throwing stones when it comes to this issue. How many here have stood up to and defied the BGI? I know our family has – my husband sacrificied his career for his beliefs in true equity. I know others here have as well, including SD who has paid a huge personal price for pushing back against the BGI and those who work in the shadows to support tyranny. Most of people I know, however, are ALL TALK, especially when it threatens to impact their pocketbooks. Tough talk, until they try to extort you. Then most fold like $2.00 accordians.

      Spare. Me.

  4. 700,000 gather in protest.
Big deal, won’t change a thing. Tomorrow everything remains the same.
Petition your leaders for open carry for any citizen of more than 15 years, that would impress.

It is hard to fathom just how awful our President really is. Worse than terrible. Worse than disgusting.

  6. KCKid says:

I don’t see any candles in the picture. They are very effective in the inner cities after a youth is murdered.

  7. whodoneit says:

All the rallies, protests, signs and gatherings are just so much worthless crap. It solves nothing. Until leaders and the people who elect them wake from their PC fantasyland and learn to call a spade a spade – zip will be accomplished and innocent lives will continue to be lost.

  8. zephyrbreeze says:

It may be even worse because they HAVE rallied, they FEEL as if they’ve DONE something. It’s not true, but it keeps them in the leftist trance-like state that they are still good people, although they have voted for weak leaders, and have allowed hostile forces to overtake their country.

Notice: No one is demanding to know which judge cut the sentence for one of the terrorists. Why aren’t the people demanding harsher sentences for terrorism, instead of this 18 month cr@p? Le Pen wants to bring back the death penalty for terrorists and (I say) all their hanger-on-ers, and enablers.

    • ytz4mee says:

“Notice: No one is demanding to know which judge cut the sentence for one of the terrorists.”

Really? And your source of information for this is WHAT, exactly? Or are you relying on what the corporate fabian apologist media here chooses to present to you?

  9. ZurichMike says:

I side with those thinking this protest is useless. Similar protests were held in Spain after Muslim terrorists blew up a Spanish train in 2004, killing about 200 people. Nothing much changed — except perhaps more accommodation of the Muslims, including allowing them to build a mosque in southern Spain.

Agreed. It’s like being told to write a letter to one’s Congressional representative…

    • ytz4mee says:

Yes. This is a huge problem. The terrorists use it to bump the Overton window in their favor and demand MORE appeasement and capitulation.

Much like here in the US with the tactics of the BGI. The “Black Caucus” is now demanding that Scalise “prove” he’s not a racist, by voting for black privilege legislation that grows their power and influence.

I hope that the French citizens will push back and not be cowed into further dhimmitude. We shall have to see.

How many of ’em had the cojones to publish the cartoons on their social media, before or after this demonstration?

  11. LetJusticePrevail" says:

Muslims have figured out how to wage an “asymmetric war” without building so much as a single aircraft carrier, tank or long range bomber.

All they have to do is create enough strife inside their own countries to provide adequate motivation for millions of other Muslims to migrate to Europe, set up their own “enclaves” and (eventually) take over the governments at their destinations. And, in their naivete, the liberals in Europe have welcomed the instruments of their own destruction.

World leaders have either joined the march, or started their own. The obvious one missing is our own (NOT) beloved Faux Pres Obozo. Obozo sent his cohort in crime, Holder. I saw Netanyahu in the front with what I am sure are body guards (I hope) because they looked very concerned and had their hands on him. I didn’t see Sisi, but maybe I just didn’t recognize him.

  13. LetJusticePrevail" says:

Another thing that bothers me about the reporting on these terror attacks. It seems that the media, and the French authorities are lobbying VERY HARD to make it seem like these guys were “highly trained”and acted with some sort of “Military Precision”.

How much training foes it take to pull out a gun, round up a group of unarmed citizens, and summarily execute a number of them before “committing suicide by cop”? How much training does it take to funnel some gasoline into a bottle and shove a rag down the neck? How many “military advisers” are required to teach a 26 year old woman how to hold and pull the trigger on a puny crossbow?

This is an obfuscation. A ruse. A diversion. And it’s only purpose is to perpetuate the myth that “the average Muslim” poses no threat to the general population. What they WANT the world to believe is that this was a threat from outside France. The threat didn’t come from without, it lives within France, just like it now lives within America.

When will people WAKE UP and recognize that at any time, any person could do these things, but it’s some of the Islamic Imams within our own countries who are encouraging these types of attacks?
