Sunday Open Thread – December 21st

Tomb of the Unknown ChristmasOur Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.

For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

I’d just like to share the following perspective from my cousin, a dedicated female police officer in Gulfport, MS:

    | “Rioters (I refuse to use the word protesters for the people who continue their destructive and/or violent rants) knocked down this memorial to four men who served their community with honor, respect and dignity. I know I am far from the mean streets of Oakland these days, but by reading the comments of every biased media report on these riots of late, the rioters lost focus early and lost empathy to their cause with it.

Everyday we go out the door, head to the station, suit up and hope to catch a bad guy. We hope to catch someone before they can harm another, before they can kill another and yes, before they can hurt us. That is every Officer’s hope… to catch the bad guy. The bad guy has no race, no socio-economic background, and isn’t even a guy sometimes. They are a bad person doing bad things… plain and simple.

If you want police reform and empathy for your cause, sit down with us and open a dialogue. Go to a Citizen’s Academy. What you hear and see might enlighten you to the harsh reality that there are indeed bad guys out there and a few good guys willing to stand in your defense.” |

  3. Upended world, eh? More people torched, man citing justice for Eric Garner shoots two cops dead, and King Barry is no where to be found on the media.
Mainstream media pushing Jessica under the table, keeping fairly quiet about the NYPD assasinations and darn near nothing about the burnings.
Patriots, stay alert and ready. There is a strange storm brewing.

If you look on the American centric Interweb, it was just a fashion item in the late 50’s-60’s.
However, it’s still used today in other countries as it has been for the last 2000+ years. The Romans had them and we did too, right up until the red paint throwing anti fir coat crowd started destroying peoples property. (Don’t ask about aerosol deodorant and how we’re about the only country who’s population destroys their shirts with the jelly we spread under our arms).

A Country Founded by Geniuses but Run by Idiots
    Jeff Foxworthy:
If plastic water bottles are okay, but plastic bags are banned, β€” you might live in a nation (state) that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots ?

If you can get arrested for hunting or fishing without a license, but not for entering and remaining in the country illegally β€” you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If you have to get your parents’ permission to go on a field trip or to take an aspirin in school, but not to get an abortion β€” you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If you MUST show your identification to board an airplane, cash a check, buy liquor, or check out a library book and rent a video, but not to vote for who runs the government β€” you might live in a
nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If, in the nation’s largest city, you can buy two 16-ounce sodas, but not one 24-ounce soda, because 24-ounces of a sugary drink might make you fat β€” you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If an 80-year-old woman who is confined to a wheelchair or a three-year-old girl can be strip-searched by the TSA at the airport, but a woman in a burka or a hijab is only subject to having her neck and head searched β€” you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If your government believes that the best way to eradicate trillions of dollars of debt is to spend trillions more β€” you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If a seven-year-old boy can be thrown out of school for saying his teacher is β€œcute” but hosting a sexual exploration or diversity class in grade school is perfectly acceptable β€” you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If hard work and success are met with higher taxes and more government regulation and intrusion while not working is rewarded with Food Stamps, WIC checks, Medicaid benefits, subsidized housing, and free cell phones β€” you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If you pay your mortgage faithfully, denying yourself the newest big-screen TV, while your neighbor buys iPhones, time shares, a wall-sized do-it-all plasma screen TV and new cars, and the government forgives his debt when he defaults on his mortgage β€” you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If being stripped of your Constitutional right to defend yourself makes you more β€œsafe” according to the government β€” you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

Interesting comment on how we got here- divided …
(Main article was on shooting death of Florida police officer)

Mich Kern: “Barack says we need to have a conversation about race in America. Fair enough. But this time, it has to be a two-way conversation. White America needs to be heard from, not just lectured to… This time, the Silent Majority needs to have its convictions, grievances and demands heard. And among them are these:

First, America has been the best country on earth for black folks. It was here that 600,000 or 6% slave population where brought to America and were sold by blacks to whites. That 6%grew into a community of 40 million, were introduced to Christian salvation, and reached the greatest levels of freedom and prosperity.
Second, no people anywhere has done more to lift up blacks than white Americans. Untold trillions have been spent since the ‘ 60s on welfare, food stamps, rent supplements, Section 8 housing, Pell grants, student loans, legal services, Medicaid, Earned Income Tax Credits and poverty programs designed to bring the African-American community into the mainstream. Governments, businesses and colleges have engaged in discrimination against white folks — with affirmative action, contract set-asides and quotas — to advance black applicants over white applicants. Churches, foundations, civic groups, schools and individuals all over America have donated their time and money to support soup kitchens, adult education, day care, retirement and nursing homes for blacks.

We hear the grievances. Where is the gratitude??

Barack talks about new ‘ladders of opportunity’ for blacks. Let him go to Altoona? And Johnstown ,and ask the white kids in Catholic schools how many were visited lately by Ivy League recruiters handing out scholarships for ‘deserving’ white kids..? Is white America really responsible for the fact that the crime and incarceration rates for African-Americans are seven times those of white America? Is it really white America’s fault that illegitimacy in the African-American community has hit 70 percent and the black dropout rate from high schools in some cities has reached 50 percent?

Is that the fault of white America or, first and foremost, a failure of the black community itself?

As for racism, its ugliest manifestation is in interracial crime, and especially interracial crimes of violence. Is Barack Obama aware that while white criminals choose black victims 3 percent of the time, black criminals choose white victims 45 percent of the time?

Is Barack aware that black-on-white rapes are 100 times more common than the reverse, that black-on-white robberies were 139 times as common in the first three years of this decade as the reverse?

We have all heard ad nauseam from Al, Sharpton, jessie jackson, Rev. Al. But about the epidemic of black assaults on whites. we hear nothing.

Sorry, Barack, some of us have heard it all before, about 40 years and 40 trillion tax dollars ago. I will be called a racist by liberals for stating this, and that is sad that they can’t defend or refute the facts, because they really don’t know any better and that is what they been taught, when you can’t handle the truth, call them names to shame them Well I won’t be silent any more, the Majority will be heard and urge all who like this to repost it.” |

I’d like to comment on this Cuba thing that Obama has proposed. I will surely rock some boats, but the whole approach since the sixties has been a mistake. I will just say this:

Open a McDonald’s a Subway, and a Lee’s jean outlet in Havana and make it affordable and the revolution is over! Had they done this 30 years ago it would have been over a lot sooner. This is inevitable. The power of free enterprise, black market or out in the open always spells the demise of these regimes.

Sorry, but most politicians and vindictive Cubans don’t get it. The way around a communist regime is to give the people therein a taste of the outside. The rest just takes care of itself.

    Just a heads up:

I’m not one to strongly believe in homeopathic remedies. That said, for years I have been using Zycam (homeopathic) for my daughters and myself for colds. My wife is not a believer. All I can say is that it works. There is a wicked “cough cold” going around my neck of the woods, Some of my friends have had the cough cold last for over a month. My wife recently got it, and on the second week she went to a local clinic, it was that bad. She had developed a fever and a secondary bacterial infection and that was handled with antibiotics.

Even with the strict protocols we have at home I contracted the virus a week ago. That tells me that even though the infected person is on the mend, if they are still coughing they are contagious. Doing some research it seems it’s not a regular cold. The CDC calls it RSV. you can find the info here:

Not knowing that it was not a regular rhinovirus I went on a Zycam regimen immediately. My sickness, though I still have a very light cough, lasted for only six days. that’s in comparison to my wife who is still coughing after 3-weeks.

I strongly recommend Zycam Pre Cold nasal spray. It works! My daughters swear by it and we have been using it for years.

For everyone who supports their local police/sheriff’s departments. When Officer Perry Renn was killed in the line of duty this past July, the city of Indianapolis started the “Go Blue” campaign in support of our IMPD. (Not to be confused with the various blue campaigns to support the Indianapolis Colts.)

Apparently, there is now a movement to spread this across the nation to show support for our law enforcement community. It encourages people to change their clear light bulbs on the front of their homes to blue bulbs to show their support. We have 3 out of our 4 immediate next door neighbors who are law enforcement. We support them just as they look out for all of us in the neighborhood.

Most of the police & fire departments in our country are made up of hard working people dedicated to their community. There are always a few rotten apples who make everyone look bad. And then there are the entire communities/cities/townships/counties that are rotten to the core. But the majority are just like us.

Keep in mind, these will be the people who will support the average person when Obama decided to enact his martial law/dhs goons. It just boggles my mind what is going on in our country. Stay safe all.
