It’s Official: Martha McSally Wins Arizona Congressional Seat…

Martha McSally is a combat tested A-10 Warthog fighter pilot.  After a closely contested Arizona race it is now official – McSally has won the former Gabby Giffords’ seat.

1st Air Force female pilot in combat reflects on career(Reuters) – U.S. Representative Ron Barber, an Arizona Democrat and former aide to Gabrielle Giffords, has officially lost his re-election bid to the Republican challenger in November’s congressional elections, a judge certified on Wednesday.

A superior court judge declared Martha McSally, a retired Air Force colonel and a pioneer of women’s combat aviation in the 1990s, the winner after a state-mandated recount showed she won by 167 votes in the Nov. 4 election.

“There’s no getting around that this was an incredibly close and hard-fought race. After what’s been a long campaign season, it’s time to come together and heal our community,” McSally said in a statement. (read more)

These Republican military women are amazing. I hope someone does a commercial or short video about them all. Entitle it: “War on Democrats,” by women who want to defeat them at every turn.

Good for her and us. Maybe real women like this can displace the likes of Pelosi, Feinstein, and Warren eventually. I can’t take much more of these crazy lunatic leftie commies.

In two years McSally can run for McCain’s seat if he decides to retire. She was an advisor to Kyl. She’ll get his support as well as McCain’s (if McCain decides to retire).

McSally has a remarkable history of accomplishments and seems to be a solid conservative.

Add another chit to the already historical number of Republicans elected to the House this year. Now it’s 247R and 188D; the Ds lost a total of 13 seats.

It’s too bad Boehner is squandering it.

Another good sign that some voters are waking up !

Perhaps, but there’s a long row to hoe. Decades of dumbing down and entitlements have yielded Obama, Holder, Reid, Jarrett, and the rest of them as tyrannical elitists robbing us of our wealth, our heritage and our freedom with every breath they draw during every moment they hold office.

YaY Martha!!!! Now let’s undo all the damage lame brain 0bama has instilled on us all.

Ya got to love a feel good story like this one. She has a lot more fight in her than most of the men in Congress. I wish her the best. Don’t let us down, colonel.

Slightly off-topic BUT: speaking of the A-10 (and we were) it looks as if the A-10, our premier and ONLY dedicated ground-attack fighter, is funded to live for one more fiscal year. The AF wants the plan dead and buried, it wants more hi-speed zoomie machines, screw the Army/Marines who actually don’t live in hotel-like facilities in the combat zone, they can get mediocre close-air-support (CAS) from hi-tech fighter zommie machines as an ‘add on’ utility (yeah! we gotta ap for that!). The Army loves it, it provides devastating CAS with a relatively long time-on-target and more versatile weapons load than can jets initially and primarily designed for hi-speed, hi-altitude combat. The A-10 was designed to be used low-and-slow killing Russian tanks on the northern European plains so it uses fuel more efficiently than an F-16 or its ilk. The AF ‘compensates’ for the zoomie’s shortcomings by a special targeting pod that somewhat makes up for the plane’s shortcoming but bottom line is it’s like using a Porsche Cayman to take the kids to school.
The AF tried to dump the A-10 in the 90s a couple of tomes, it’s so loved that the Army even volunteered to take them over and fly them on its own budget with its own pilots, The AF, waving the dust covered 1947 Army/Air Force divorce agreement pointed out that the AF was supposed to provide all CAS and that the Army was prohibited from having its own combat fixed-wing aircraft. Never mind that the AF was going to basically can CAS and the Army soldiers, unlike the Marines, would be without dedicated CAS. Good old AF, just can’t understand or accept the needs of any warrior who can’t be back from battle in time for happy hour a the Officer’s Club.
The Army convinced the funders that the lives of soldiers weren’t worth the ego needs of the AF’s ‘pilot hierarchy’ and the AF got saddled with them for another couple of years and then – poof – comes Afghanistan and Iraq where soldiers prayed to the gods Fairchild and Republic for bringing them a CAS machine that sent jihadis screaming in fear or directly to 72-Virgins-R-Us. Now the same AF pilot-bureaucrat-generals and the Army staff-level ‘tacticians’ (none of who will ever gret close enough to combat to smell the gunpowder) are looking to mothball the A-10 once again. Instead of a low, slow, accurate and heavily armed just-short-of $12-million dollar airplane the is serviced in much the same manner as a VW bug and is very difficult to shoot down the troops will have to call on a bare-bones-cost F-35 at $85-million that needs specialized maintenance, can’t fly as slow or effectively as an as an A-10 in CAS without falling out of teh air. Let’s not forget that the A-10’s armored to survive attack from ground small arms and many AA systems while the AF fighters are – to be kind – not.
So let’s see what the next year budget battles do as the AF tries to rids itself of a smelly and, to the AF, unglamorous job while increasing the ranks of its demigod fighterjocks.

You have to see one ‘jinking’ and dodging around – they were built to not only withstand hits from 23mm AA fire (standard Soviet field AA) but almost dance in the air to prevent being a sitting duck target. A skilled Hog pilot is truly a sight to see – the AF unit I was attached to had them and it was never boring them fly. Don’t know if the fancy video game stuff they have in their cockpits has been declassed but it’s enough to make you WOW! all on its own – what they can do is amazing.

Congrats to McSally! I used to love watchin’ the A-10s dancing around in the valley below us. Good ol’ Fort WeGotcha. Higher than the clouds (some days) but still grounded enough to have horse cavalry. Makes me sad to hear the A-10 may no longer grace the skies around Selfridge. I heard the Canadians might want the old birds. Canada is only a stone skip away.

This is great news. She will do a great job in D.C. I hope this is a beginning stepping stone for her climb in her political career. McCain does need to be replaced when he comes up for re-election.
