Now:  NILES, Mi. (WJBK) – Police in southwestern Michigan confirm that multiple people have been stabbed on board an Amtrak train that was heading for Port Huron.
The attack occurred at about 7 p.m., while the train, No. 364, was parked at a station located at N 6th Street and Pokagon.

Niles police say that a suspect was arrested and is in custody.  Chris Maynard was heading home from Chicago to see his family in Grosse Pointe Park.

“Crazy world we live in,” he said. “Some man just stabbed four people one car away from me on the train,” Maynard said in a phone interview with FOX 2. “One (person) looked horrible.”

Maynard, 23, has a sister in Kalamazoo who he said he was staying with for the night.
Several metro Detroit residents were on board. No word yet on who was injured or their status.
Amtrak released the following statement:

“Amtrak is aware of an incident that took place today on Train 364. At the time of the incident, the train was at the Niles (Michigan) train station. The Niles City Police Department has a person in custody and the investigation into the incident is ongoing. The Amtrak Police Department is assisting in the investigation.
Train 364 is the Blue Water service that travels daily between Chicago and Port Huron. The train was heading to Port Huron at time of incident. Amtrak is working to arrange alternate transportation for 172 passengers.”  (link)
