Reports are now surfacing that ISIS has an advantage formerly and exclusively held by Western military – night vision and laser targeting technology. Gee, I wonder where ISIS would have acquired such tactical advantage?
Western media continue to use the term “coalition airstrikes” despite the fact not a single Arab country has assisted an attack against ISIS (in Syria) since September 21st – the first day of airstrikes (political optics).
(Reuters) – Islamic State raised its flag on a building on the outskirts of the Syrian frontier town of Kobani on Monday after an assault of almost three weeks, but the town’s Kurdish defenders said its fighters had not reached the city centre.
A black flag belonging to Islamic State was visible from across the Turkish border atop a four-storey building close to the scene of some of the most intense clashes in recent days.
The radical al Qaeda offshoot has been battling to seize the predominantly Kurdish town after taking over large swathes of territory in northern Syria and Iraq in recent months.
Air strikes by American and Gulf state warplanes have failed to halt its advance on Kobani, which it has besieged from three sides and pounded with heavy artillery.
Local sources inside Kobani confirmed that the group, formerly known as ISIL, had planted its flag, but said Kurdish forces had repelled its advances so far.
“ISIL have only planted a flag on one building,” said Ismail Eskin, a journalist in the town. “That is not inside the city, it’s on the eastern side. They are not inside the city. Intense clashes are continuing. The bodies of 25 (Islamic State) fighters are there.”
Mortars have rained down on residential areas of Kobani, and stray fire has hit Turkish territory in recent days. But Kurdish pleas for more effective military help have so far gone unanswered, despite the presence of Turkish tanks arrayed along the border, within sight of the town. (read more)
The position of Turkey’s Prime Minister is crystal clear, Recep Erdogan supports ISIS.
Erdogan hates Bashir Assad more than he dislikes the methods of the radical Islamists destroying Syria. As a consequence Erdogan is willing to watch the Syrian Kurds lose in the Northern City of Kobane (aka Kobani).
What is lesser known, and factually unchallenged by an insufferable U.S. media, is the position of President Obama.
President Obama has publicly stated the U.S. goals are to defeat ISIS by “airstrikes” and supporting the “moderate Syrian opposition”. If this is true, then why are we not supporting the Kurds in the City of Kobane?
On the ground, the Islamic State (IS) advance on Kobane is clearly visible from Turkish military positions on their side of the border.
All non-combatants, around 90% of the residents, have now fled the predominantly Kurdish city and the villages surrounding it as the YPG Kurdish militia make a last defensive stand.
With Jihadist attacks coming from the west, east and the south, IS are said to be just a kilometre from the outskirts of some parts of Kobane and are firing shells into the city centre.
Some of the latest reports today, Friday afternoon, say that the Jihadists have already entered the city from the south-west and control some of the buildings on the southern approach road.

The Kurdish forces have set up barriers and dug trenches around Kobane but have little heavy weaponry and are no match militarily for the extensively armed Jihadists who are said to have captured 30 tanks alone at the former Assad Brigade 3 base in Raqqah province.

If the Obama administrations’ goal really is to defeat ISIS, and with $500 million provided by congress toward that end, why is the President doing the same thing as Recep Erdogan in standing back and watching the Kurdish resistance to ISIS be destroyed in Kobane?
Within the answer you find the reality, President Obama and Recep Erdogan are doing the exact same thing for the exact same reason.
The “coalition airstrikes” in Syria were/are a total ruse, a fraud.
When was the last time you heard of the UAE bombing in Syria? The answer is the ‘last time‘ was the same as the ‘first time’, the ‘only time’.
The “Arab Coalition” of Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar and UAE was a useful talking point for the first 12 hours. Bahrain, Jordan and Saudi Arabia were moral support; Qatar’s contribution was just to stop arming and financing ISIS – some help; the only country who actually put planes in the sky was UAE, once.
Denis McDonough knew the political winds in the U.S. had shifted, the political decision was to ask the “coalition” to give the appearance of a united effort to assist President Obama.
The White House asked for the Arabs’ help in creating appearances so the Western media could construct a narrative. They did….
That was September 21st.
Since then? Nothing. It was a ruse.
Since September 21st not a single sorte, flight, attack or bomb dropped by anyone except the U.S. But you still keep hearing the words “coalition attack”, so it appears the ruse worked – the “talking point” embedded.
All we ever needed to know about President Obama’s commitment to defeating non-Islamic ISIS we are watching in Kobane.
But it gets worse
Yesterday Kurds from Turkey tried to cross the border to join the fight on behalf of the Syrian Kurds – they wanted to fight for Kobane. What did Erdogan do? He maneuvered his army between them and the border and used tear gas to repel anyone who would attempt to assist the Kurds fighting in Kobane.
Recep Erdogan is willing to let Kobane to fall into the hands of ISIS.
… and so is President Obama.
Think about that for a few minutes. Then ask yourself what will happen if indeed Bashir Assad IS defeated and Syria becomes part of the ISIS geography.
