Democrats To Republicans: ‘Give Obama His $3.7 Billion, Or We Won’t Deport Illegals’ – Democrats Refuse To Change 2008 Trafficking Law Unless GOP Give Obama $3.7 Billion…

It’s just how they roll.   The Democrats in DC will not allow changes to the 2008 law they claim is the source of the problem for unaccompanied minors, ie. “the border crisis”, unless the GOP cough up the $3.7 billion that Obama claims is needed because the law has not been changed…..

…. Nonsensical, yeah, we know, but that’s the Democrats’ position and they’re sticking to it.

WASHINGTON DC – Republicans and Democrats in the House are clashing over whether changes to a 2008 human trafficking law should be included in emergency legislation for the border.

Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) on Tuesday morning said he would seek to link changes to the trafficking law to the emergency funding, with Republicans making a final decision on their strategy by the end of the week.

Republicans have blamed the influx of children at the border on the 2008 law, which they say has served as an incentive for people to enter the United States. The law allows minors entering the country from Central America, but not Mexico, to request asylum hearings.

House Democrats are balking at the push, arguing the debate over the trafficking law should be kept separate.

“The first priority we have is to meeting the challenge that confronts us today,” Rep. Steny Hoyer (Md.), the second-ranking House Democrat, told reporters. “And that is ensuring the fact that [federal agencies] … have the resources necessary to ensure the humane and appropriate handling of the children that they have responsibility for.”

Nancy-Pelosi-wants-a-pool-table-550x363Hoyer said the legal rights afforded to the Central American children align with “America’s humanitarian instincts,” and said changes to the rules should not be rushed through Congress.

“Hearings need to be held on that, debate needs to be held on that in committee, and we need to consider that, and not consider it in the timeframe that is necessary to deal with this humanitarian crisis that we have now,” Hoyer said.

The child trafficking law has emerged as a flashpoint in the debate over immigration. Critics say the law is contributing to the border surge that has overwhelmed officials in the Southwest, but supporters of the policy say it is needed to help children whose lives are at risk.

The White House tried to stay out of the fray on Tuesday, saying the policy changes in the bill would be up to Congress to decide.

“In terms of the legislative machinations of all this, we’re going to rely on Congress to do its business in the way they think is most appropriate,” White House press secretary Josh Earnest said. “What we would like to see is prompt action.”

But Earnest said the White House does “believe that individuals from Central America who are apprehended along the southwest border are entitled to due process.”

“That is a principle that this administration continues to support,” Earnest said  (read more)

Republicans need to stand firm on this but I suspect they will cave. Obama will get what he wants. It will be no time and he will be back asking for even more money.

Another instance of not being willing to negotiate on anything. I know the repubs are nothing to write home about, but the democrats are like spoiled rotten kids. “If I can’t get my way, I won’t play!” And that picture of Barry/Nancy makes me sick to my stomach. Disgusting.

But…but… but… I thought Obama had “a pen and a phone” and wasn’t afraid to use them?

LOL What a hypocrite. But since he is always willing to resort to “Executive Orders” and “selective enforcement” when it suits his purpose, it’s pretty telling that he is now refusing to do anything without action from Congress. THAT is what he’s after…. ACTION from Congress. And you can darn well bet that there will be more than one “turd in the punch bowl” of any legislation or policy change that is proposed in regards to this issue. Sure,Obama wants the $3.7 Billion, but I’m betting he wants something else. Something that will amount to another one of his “Fundamental Change” programs in America.

I intend to take a close look at any legislation or policy changes that are proposed by EITHER party here. I smell a rat.

Yes there will be much more hidden inside this bill. They better read it line for line instead of passing it to see what’s in it. I am sure it will be a real thick bill discouraging the lazy to not bother reading the whole thing. Stupid, stupid, the whole bunch of them.

I believe they only have 2 or 3 weeks before they go on vacation. They are going to wait till the last day and pass a bill that no one has read and we the people don’t want. This is how they operate.

At $500 per brat you can put them on planes and ship them back … Most of these ILLEGALS are not children even in our country. In Central America most of the 12 year old and up are near adulthood. I’m sorry if in their country they don’t have the same opportunities as here in the USA. If they don’t like it, it is up to them to change their HOME country. This is NOT OUR PROBLEM IN ANY WAY.

This IS his pen and phone and, once again, the Republicans and press are falling for the false narrative.

(I also love how we have 17 Trillion in debt yet Bathhouse Barry just wants to spend another 4 Billion on this and the another $300 BILLION for infrastructure. There is a term an old jewish mentor of mine told me once about people who borrow and borrow themselves to oblivion http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=Jo6v2CbEb34)

Here is an idea. Give the 60k to each brat, BUT, in an escrow account in there home country, where they will need to show up in person. Then they will go back and hopefully invest in their home country.

Before you give me flak, you know the RINOs are in on this. It is a done deal so the money will be spent, so use it to have them self deport.

imo, so many American’s are upset about our open borders & the dumping of illegals, you can read the comments on abc/cbs/nbc. Very litttle support Nationally for Obama’s border crisis. Homeland Land Security Chief/Obama/Biden/Josh Earnest can all repeatedly say, “our borders are NOT open,” but their action tells a completely different story in the media when picking up the illegals to be processed, & the dumping/relocation away from the border when dumping these illegal immigrants..

Gallop released a poll just yesterday that stated that 30% of voters that voted for Obama in the past election, WON’T support any Democrat that supports Obama’s vision of the border crisis. That includes black voters that usually vote Democratic or Independents.

imo, if the Republican Congressman don’t man up immediately & release reasonable demands attached to the 3.9 billion dollars, the country’s screwed, but this time, we’re screwed by our own party!

The republicans should just defund these agencies, bit by bit. That way, they can’t be accused of shutting down the government by the media. Just keep slashing their budgets, IRS, VA (give vouchers to vets, shut down all the rest), State Department (what good are they), ICE, ATF, et al.

This is BLACKMAIL and extortion. It’s unConstitutional — the government is supposed to secure the border, no strings attached.

Dems play offense. GOP should say, “You want $3.7 Billion? Deport first, then we’ll talk” But they’re always on the ropes playing defense and catch-up.

“Democrats Refuse To Change 2008 Trafficking Law Unless GOP Give Obama $3.7 Billion”

That so called Bush lw expired in 2012 and was not renewed:

The Victims of Trafficking and Violence Protection Act (TVPA) is a federal statute passed into law in 2000 by the U.S. Congress and signed by President Clinton. The law was later reauthorized by Presidents Bush and Obama. It offers protections for persons in the country illegally who may be victims of human trafficking. The Victims of Trafficking and Violence Protection Act was subsequently renewed in 2003, 2006, 2008 (when it was renamed the William Wilberforce Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2008). The law lapsed in 2011. In 2013 the entirety of the Victims of Trafficking and Violence Protection Act was attached as an amendment to the Violence Against Women Act and passed.[1] There are two stipulations an applicant has to meet in order to receive the benefits of the T-Visa. First, a trafficked victim must prove/admit to being trafficked and second must submit to prosecution of his or her trafficker. Because of this the law does not apply to immigrants seeking admission to the United States for other immigration purposes.
